I cannot blame anyone for wanting to be in the same squad as their mates.

But I do think it is disgusting when a player exploits a game mechanism to gain unfair advantage.

Tungstene would never have dared fire in Firefrost if he had not planned his "escape route" in advance. Power up, fire, then delete your account before you get what's coming to you. Then get 5 new moves to start your new life.

No doubt he thinks he's very clever. I think he's a ..........

Not only has he deleted his account, he changed from MAAS to NAVY.

Oddly enough, the Navy now knows who our FC is. If it wasn't him, then my disgust is pointed at the wrong player, for that. But nonetheless, to delete your account and choose which side you are on is a low down cheat. Plain and simple.

B***h, B***h, B***h! So far, Boris, all I see you do is complain. I thought you were not going to play, because you were getting disgusted. So leave already! It will be one less MCA Monkey to shoot at. Maybe Tungstene left because he did not want to hear you b***hing all day. It gets tiring.

As for the Navy knowing who the MAAS FC is, please tell me. I am in the Navy and I do not know who it is. It might be helpful. I am serious, I do not know, and I really would like to know.

Oh, by the way, the black sheep squadron lives again, and I feel like a coyote in sheeps clothing.

Hang on there a minute. Would you rather see cheats than someone complaining about cheats? There is nothing wrong with complaining about cheats. Demanding that Boris leaves doesn't help the game or the community, if it really annoys you that much then why don't you leave?

I was not demanding that Boris quit. Personally I like that he is here. I want to kill him, and if I make him mad enough maybe he will want to kill me. Right now I am right under his feet and he is acting like I do not exist. Making him angry might make this game fun.

I also do not think that somebody quitting a faction to join another one is necessarily "cheating," unless they do it to provide secret information. I know that nobody will believe me, but I can assure you that no one has provided any classified information. These people only moved because they did not like who they were playing with, and thought that they would enjoy themselves better elsewhere. I do not see any harm in that.

It just seems that Boris continues to have heartache over a lot of things he cannot control. He needs valium, but he is not bothering me whatsoever. I hope I am bothering him.:p

Yup, had to take a demotion until I learned how to sail these space boats. I don't know if you remember how well I used to navigate them 3 Way Ships. I always kept going the 4th way. I am having to develop my sea legs, and it is harder when you have four of them. Also they keep trying to feed me limes! :bigeye: Yuck! I liked the food better with TTW (big fat tasty Oman burgers!)

I am of the belief that once one gets assigned to a faction, one ought to stick with it until that faction is dead.

I am decidedly against quitting and re-signing up. However, if one MUST do it, I'd prefer one do it openly and not pick a new name. It disrupts continuity and I rather like having stable identities.

I particularly find reprehensible the idea of signing up one persona in all factions and deciding which faction has the best chance of winning, and deleting all the undesirable ones. This to me is the second worst kind of cheating.

Just under them on the list of dishonorable behavior are those who think it's cute or helpful or fun or even RIGHT to deliberately gain information about other factions to share with rival factions. Those people get the ninth circle of hell with Dante's traitors. Yes, we have spies in modern warfare. Yes, they are important in Real Life combat. What people are forgetting is that this is a game and in some sense the concept of "game" makes certain forms of rule-following necessary or else the whole simulation/fantasy totally fails. Nothing is more dismal than having the Monopoly game no longer palatable to play because someone's bought another stack of $500 bills and is keeping them up his sleeve.

Sorry to turn this into a rant against spies. But I really do hope that someday there will be a way to minimize this disheartening conduct. And I also hope there's a way to encourage people to let the chips fall where they may in the places where chance is SUPPOSED to simulate actual laws of probability.

Yeah, sometimes life isn't fair, but I do not think the guys that Boris is talking about are doing anything extremely bad. No matter how we would ideally like to play the game, the fact is: some people like playing with their friends - and that is it. They did not change their names. They still have the same names. I am also not sure that the Navy has any better chance of winning than any one else. I was with the Third Way last time and believe me I never would have thought they were going to win, and some would argue that they did not.

Ultimately the idea of playing games is to have fun. The people Boris is complaining about are doing just that - they are having fun, and I do not believe that it is really at anyones expense. They are not cheaters. They want to win honourably. There are much bigger problems out there. Tungstene and friends are not the big problems.

fired in fire frost at bobo ,
meaning bobo had to jump out with out fireing at any one ,
so a wasted 3 moves which would make any one mad,

Monopoly has different currency and different streets and cities depending on which country. In the old belgian version (before the euros) Brussels was the most expensive city and it was played with franks. Now it's euro's. So in the UK, it's probably London and pounds.

To me, and it often seems to me i'm in a real minority,

Honour in this game is abiding by the rules and allowing the random system to work, not picking your Faction, and staying in the Faction you're placed in. Playing the game as it was designed to be played, with no other emotion than Fun in your heart. Ive said before I understand people wanting to play with their friends, but why cant fighting your friends and competing with them be just as much fun? We'll also all end up joined together in 2 Factions by the end, so whats the hurry?.

I landed in Navy this round, with none of my old friends, and only a few old comrades i'd fought with before. After my disagreements with Navy last round does anybody think that it never crossed my mind to delete or pick my Faction and join my friends in other Factions instead?

Of course it did, but I believe the random system is essential to making this game fair and fun, and i'll fight my hardest to the death with whatever Faction I end up in, destroying my friends in enemy Factions with Fun in my heart (and its a sign you know how much of a threat and a good player they are).

and if youve *never* shot a friend out of the sky, believe me youre missing something. =)

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. However you have to admit that part of the reason for playing games is that it forces you to interact with people. The fact of the matter is: some people have their quirks. Some just like playing with their friends, and not against them., and unless it becomes against the rules there is nothing wrong with that.

At first i think it's better to stick in the faction you were thrown, but i think there are some reasons to change:

i changed in game 2 factions (no i didn't join them, i just wait and hit the reload button of "your faction") at start, because some old omans has talked about joining the old faction again, or join a named other faction. i've been thrown in both faction at start and finally ended up with MCA and was happy.

game 3 i didn't know most of our faction members, but this has changed in past days, i really like some of them, and also i start to hate some others ;)

i can think of many reason to leave a faction, if you are not happy with the people (and the people with you), you can change and stay honourable... no need to frustrate the others or getting frustrated... after all this is just a game. if someone serious wants to cheat, there are so many ways, that i can't blame people who simple changed their faction because of personal reasons.

Btw. i really want to destroy some HQs in this game, just to meet some old friends ;)

BFalcon

I, personally, think that everyone should stay in the faction they were put in, unless they are really unhappy with their team-mates.

I am now in the Oman with some of the Bloody Angels... who I have coem to know and respect. I can honestly say that I would put my ship on the line to help bring them home, not just because they are my team-mates, but because they have my trust, admiration and respect.

I have only met a couple of the DS(I think) - Bad Barbie and a couple of others who I was impressed with last game, although having pilots leave the fight for whatever reason is annoying, but still. ;)

People should think long and hard before deciding whether or not to leave a faction - certainly not because of a faction name or because they want to be with such-and-such... people I thought I'd never get on with, I have found to be excellent wingmen... heck, I even got on with Infinite last round (and anyone who was here in round one will remember the "Infinite Baiting" the MCA used to indulge in... ;)).

It's my fault for this reasons :

The Black Sheep is essencially composed to French people.

All, we're reading and speaking english but not always easy.

I'm am the lesser in english langage, sorry...

So, we play together in Black Sheep Squad at all wars...

Not for choice who win. We're good pilots but not the gods for choice because we are in a faction, he win ! i have big Ego, yes... But not totally crazy !

And at the last war (eoc2) i say if i die after the hq destroy, i come to the Maas for test the ship... in others message follow : But if in the next war, i choice the Navy !

After, comms out, all black sheep have not read the second message i think.

Now, for the shoot on Boris. Considere you have pay your big fault to volontary die as Fc in Eoc 2. For our honnor, i believe i don't fire on you this turn... But i admid, i'm not sure ;)

I don't like the idea of changing factions... in fact every time i log in i notice the active pilots number jump up or down usally by one. In Tungseten and Ilkie(sp) cases, being french I believe, he never really unders stood things (english comms) and saw his complaint leter he left to everyone befor he deleted his account.. Most of which i can't understand. but said something like I don't like whats going on i'm out of here

and yes information was leaked to the Navy FC, not everyon but him...since this is an ongoing game... i won't release the details now..

The other arguement, is you want to have an enjoyable gamming experance... I would have preferd he had done it befor turn 1 was over..

Wendy, if you have any idea who passed the info on, we'd appreciate any ideas... feel free to pm me if you'd prefer.

This is pretty important (non-in-game) information, so would be greatly appreciated and would not (IMHO) come under the external comms rule... :)

INCOMING MESSAGE

So, this thread is for me. :madred:
Let me explain my decision.
First, i've chose to stay in MAAS because i don't like the idea that some pilots delete their account and create a new one in another faction. After many days of work (about 40 turns), i've meet my friends in a cyber-coffee. During the first hours with them, i've seen that it's a difficult situation because we must go away do avoid "fast look" on the others' screen. I'M FAIR PLAY BORIS and that's the first reason why i've change my faction.
The second is because i don't like the MAAS' players. Some of them (i'll not give you their names, unuseful) upset me and don't let me explain my idea or my opinion. I was too much annoyed by this faction and want to feel again the real power of a coordinate squad: The Black Sheep ! So, i've send a mail to the Council of War in the MAAS, explain that i want to delete my acount and change. No answer, so, i did it.
Finally, i think that's mostly fair-play to change faction before a real war was engaged. And remember that, i've NEVER give some informations about the MAAS plan or MAAS FC to my new faction. Ask everybody if you want.

For the 4 shoots on Boris, i've no excuse, just fun !
I've been persuaded that Boris doesn't appriecied it and i'm proud to have right. Thank again Boris for this stupid Thread. Boris and me can't support each other, i don't like him, he don't like me, and that since the beginning of round 2. I've hated his action during round 2, let other faction kill him because he only want to change faction faster, and, in that way, destroy OMAN's long scans... I hate his answer in the Butcher List, when he want to be in with his 10 kills but not record because he's deleted his account.
I hope he'll put some water in his wine, becoming more calm, fun, fair-play and friendly. A dream? I hope not. For the moment, i've NEVER shoot on him just for my personnal vendetta because i've got no one.

I only want to play, for fun, with my friends, for more fun. So, let me play and don't send another Thread like that !!!!!!

Okay, I don't want to make a big thing about it. I was just really annoyed at the time because it meant I had to jump back before the fun had started, but didn't even have the chance of revenge on my tormentor.

Still think it was a bad form, though. The only times I've deleted an a/c was immediately after the system had signed me up for an unsuitable faction. I've had the wild urge to use my moves first, but didn't coz I thought it would be...

Also, T. is dead now, so can start afresh in the normal manner...

The only times I've made that judgement were -

1) Start of g2 the system signed me up for the League. Checked the comms list & only saw guys who shoot me on sight. Thought it was some sort of Wingee joke so tried again & got Oman.

2) g2 after getting killed by Navy. If I'd known the system would sign me up for our nemesis without choice, I never would've let them kill me. Had decided 24 hours beforehand that the thing to do was join Maas if our base was destroyed & Boris can be very single-minded.
