Title says it all...

Definite no!
This power is far too strong, a FC could boot out this way concurrents... also a bad FC (perhaps voted in by his own multis) could use this to easily kill his own faction.
Solution:
Let the FC ban them temporary (every turn he can choose amount of players he want's do "do nothing", and if a revote starts, this power will be disabled)
or (better)
Let the FC start's a vote, if some percent of active pilots are voting yes, he will be banned from this faction.
Both solutions offer at least only small help against such players, but every three (incl. yours WP) give the FC more power than he should have. I think you can't stop them in game ways. If someone permanently violates the rules, just let him kicked (and prob. his IP/Email locked) from wingee.
HardEyes
yeah, you can't have the FC able to abuse that power...
there was a better solution mentioned before -
let ships fire on their own Faction (maybe a reduced amount), or even Repair Ships able to damage own Faction - since Repair Ships are generally trustworthy Faction Pilots by nature...
I don't normally bother with "improvements/suggestions" threads anymore, no one with the power appears to take any notice imo... :/
NO, we do not need something like that! That would be too much power for a FC.
What we REALLY need is a PIRAT's faction. Equal to the Rouge-faction in TVS.

If the FC had the ability to stop people playing, would the waffles ever get to play?

Definately not.
The FC should have the ability to start a vote, but in the vote the FC and the person voted out cannot vote...

That sounds like a compromise.

Not really, but if the person who was voted out could vote, that could influence events.
One more thing: It should not be as with FC-confidence, where everyone starts at yes, but where everyone starts abstaining... that is neutral.
there should be a new faction called the rebel.
They are enemies whith everyone.
fc should have the power to transform anyone in his team into a rebel

That might be a "little" too much. Just one click and FC can get rid of anybody.. ..not so fun.
How about if "sure things" (pilots who had done nothing in one week or so, pilots who shoots more then 10 000 poits damage / one shot and peoles who really are multis [how to prove it??]) just reported to administrator of this game and he kick/ban them. Much more fun like that.. ..when you do not have to afreid terrible flame wars or at FC just got drank and *uups* deleted you or banished you at Rebel team :D
But it might be fun if there be a rebel team, which everybody can join if so desired.. ..not at the start of the game but then his faction HQ destroyed or something like that happens??

There's an option to go rogue in TVS. All you have to do is make the decision and press the AWOL button. Having played TVS before this I was surprised to find that there wasn't the option o go AWOL.

What is tvs?
TVS is another browser game like this one, created by Wingee but to be honest I prefer EOCO

i noticed that too, but i can only think of two ways to change it. first way would make EOCO somewhat commercial, e.g. through a membershipaccount(2-5$per month?) providing features like wap-access, better list, userdefined email list (for use for multiple squadrons) and so on. features only helping, but not making the game really easier then playing it "normal" for free.
second way i can think of is to make this game free, that means build your own EOC-similiar under GPL, distinguish between the hard coded features (like DB, security logon and so on) and the programmable features (like having gunstars, or 7 factions or a different map). This one could be improved by members by themselves, e.g. new pictures of ships, new maps, or new ideas could be implemented. also security and safety from hackers could be increased that way. the question is, in this way, if there are enough people enjoying EOCO so much, they want to help the game improving.

Don't be silly man, TVS si much better! The reason is that it's Wingee's own game so he can change what he wants etc. It's a smaller version of this and to be honest it is friendlier community. Especially when you go into Tara's the bar(the chat room), youcan just meet loads of other players. I'm in there everynight.

Every night?
lol, you are a sad, sad man. :D
The best way to do this would probably be a majority vote within the faction, as suggested by Hard Eyes.
A full two thirds majority would see the player either kicked out of the game or into a random faction. At Level 1, of course.
Of course, it's possible you'd get FC's who abuse this, or get a bit trigger happy with it and start votes on absolutly anyone who disgrees with them.
But it's always worked fine in Planetarion.
Now he has gone completely crazy ;)
He's just editing the original message! "Normal" users like I am QUOTE these things...
Even as a moderator you should stick to it, unless the message contains inappropriate text.
I would not like my post to be edited ... but just as I write this text I cannot await the comment you will insert ... ;)
PS: Don't take this post too serious. To get back to the topic: No FC should have that option, but we need a rouge-faction.

Yes, SS, you should not abuse your post as moderator :)

Can I actually make a complaint about this?
I don't want to seem vindictive or anything, but surely what he's just done constitutes abuse of privileges?
I mean, I know he was only mucking about, but still, it's a bit crappy when the moderators start fiddling with people's posts for no good reason.

Yes I know, and it won't happen again. You can be sure about that. My apoligies.
