View Full Version : A Suggestion

Ok, speaking as a man who just lost his Nova Class Cruiser (which I had for the whole of one turn) because I couldn't log on every 15 minutes to check my shields, I hereby suggest that when you die, you don't go ALL the way back to the beginning. Instead, we should loose a set percentage of our score, and be given a rank/ship equivalent to the lessened score. That way, recently killed pilots can actually have a chance of making a difference in battle. Maybe the % should be like 50% or 60%. That is a pretty big drop for a Nova Cruiser, but at least it isn't a damned level one fighter again!

I just lost my 9th level Capital Class Carrier after a mistake done by my last FC and do you see me complaining?

Alright, yeah, I cried myself to sleep last night, but no more!! ;)

Heh. 50% points loss? Yeah... no one ever wins an HQ assault again.

Think about it. Level 9 dies... whoops. Where'd that level 7 come from? (Level 9 32k, level 7 16k...)

Right now if you killed me I'd come back as level 9 with those rules...

No, the most I could see is letting pilots keep their skills, but not allowing them to get more skill points until they exceed their previous level. May for some tougher level 1 fighters... but still just level 1.

If you lose an ultra-expensive piece of hardware like a cruiser, it makes sense they aren't going to hand you another expensive ship until you prove again you can take care of it.

from my point of view - at the point we are in the game where there are Nova Class cruisers around it doesn't take too long to get back up to level 5/6/7 when you're hitting such high level ships.

Obviously from the start of the game, working up to one takes a while, but I bet it won't take half as long now...

Hehe, there's stark raving retards playing the game that would shoot their own faction if it wasn't disallowed by the code, and I've seen some of them flying lvl 8 ships.

There's a guy in our faction that hasn't even found the Comm button yet, figured out how to jump out of HQ and he's level 7 or 8 now. Maybe if we're lucky the loser will lose the address for EoCo...

But our good pilots absolutely scream up the levels... it's a beautiful system really, the guys who were smaller get gigantic under the protection of the big ships, those ships get destroyed and the previously small ships are now big to protect the new batch of level 1's.

Wingee is dead right, I died in T155, and if it wasn't for the lag I would have been promoted back up to a lvl2 the same turn. As it is I have just made lvl 3 in T159 and that includes missing a turn and spending another in jump.
Just a demonstration of how easy it is at this stage to rank up fast, I would have liked to come back with my 55 points in repair or 20000 points and a lvl7 but why worry, I'll be back there in no time

Leave things as they are I say - the challenge is part of the fun!
If it was easy to get a high level ship, there'd be no fun shooting them down.

I lost my level 8 destroyer yesterday (boo-hoo), but I remember getting from level1 to level 6 TWICE in the same week when the League HQ was being attacked, and I fully intend to do the same again if necessary. I move comrades. :coolred:

PS I am going to sink the entire Navy. I've just decided.

Sinking ships in space could be a bit hard.

I note your objection to sinking ships in space, but not to my blasting the entire Navy fleet. :D

You should be more confident in your ability to defend yourselves - you will be fleeing for your lives, so you'll try that bit harder:devil:

PS That was a lucky shot last night! If the rats on board hadn't chewed through a chunk of power cables you would have missed by miles :grntngue:

Some prannet killed me as a rank 9 last wednesday, took me 5 days to regain my rank 9 :-) Spektyr I am SO gonna beat you on the scoreboards...

What he said about the guy in our base...it seems our enemies are so scared of us and so sadly in love with this game that they have to cheat... [not accusing anybody because it may just be a demented guy, just saying it would be really sad if it was a cheat]

Oh, we're quite confident in our ability to defend ourselves. It would be foolish not to consider the possibility of defeat. Any remaining faction has the capacity to win or lose this game still.

However, I can guarantee you this... there will be a very high price paid for taking out Liberty HQ. And I'll bet you that one or more factions 'accidentally' fails to fully commit their fleet to the assault.

The Navy fleet has grown much stronger and very well organized under the constant wimpy attacks. Anyone jumping into Liberty will find their fleet severely weakened... making them easy prey for whatever factions convieniently suffer from a lack of organization or activity at the crucial moment. (Thus failing to put their ships in harm's way.)

All I can say is you guys had better be damn sure you can trust your allies... you won't be going home nearly as strong as you come in.

Sure, the Navy can be defeated just as any faction can be. But we'll take at least one faction down with us.

Who wants to be first?

Basically, we are currently owning, i mean we were a very bad fourth place, and now we are by far the largest faction.

I would like to add here a commendation to you Navy boys for your defense of Mercy. I now know how you felt when you were sieging OUR HQ, and you came up against those infamous "conditions beyond your control".

As you probably know, you managed to kill me once again, this time as a L4. And I was powered down too. I would just like to know, how the hell did you get enough gatlings and seekers to kill me in under 5 minutes? I am lucky to get a cargo pod in between my Nothing Founds every once in a while. Of course, gatling cannon+firepower of a Capital Carrier also helps.

EDIT: Just looked at the logs. THIS is what killed me:

Spektyr 163 -532 302
CelticFable 163 -3170 834 <-----HOLY ****

Only problem is, I can't find the log that displays "Ship Destroyed!" It isnt in there. Must be a bug. Don't know who to add to my "Going to kill you eventually" list.

THANKS Spektyr.

Actually I got a gat and did 3200 damage, and then found a seeker on my last turn which did around 900 damage.

Did you check out the size of our fleet, it would only take a couple of gats found by lvl 9 or 10 ships to sink a lvl 4, the odds weren't that bad

So you are the one that killed me? Could you confirm, cause my logs don't show who dealt the killing blow, damn seekers. I need to know who to have a grudge at.

By the way, NICE SHOT.

Sorry, i have a previous engagement - I'm trying to spot weld my 16 inch turrets to the front of my fighter.. it WILL fit , it WILL... :wierdblu:

Actually I was very impressed with the colossal barrage I took on the way out of Liberty. I daresay Wendyfoo wasn't that impressed though, as she is now wearing Orange instead of that lovely shade of Pink you Sailor boys were admiring at the time:p

Well, as some people know, we suddenly had about 6 or so new people join the Navy that do not respond to comms, move together, and seem intent on hunting down our allies and ignoring our enemies.

Anyone else see that as suspicious?

Oh, and thanks for the commendation Hamsterlord, I must say I'm damn proud of how the other pilots in the Navy are performing during this little siege. No need to thank me for that wimpy little gat I fired, Celt's 900 damage seeker would've been the end of you even if I hadn't fired.

Then again, if I'd managed to get all the rounds on target, that gat would've ventilated your hull quite nicely.

Gotta remember... these repairships have got some nasty pointy teeth if you don't keep them busy by damaging ships...

I would apologize for the Navy having killed you yet again, but I consider everyone duely warned... check the sig.
