I am told that salmon swim upstream to the site of their birthplace to mate and to die. And so it was that with shields failing and hull integrity compromised, I bought the HMS Pinafore back to her home port at Liberty HQ to die. Unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to mate.
I am quite sure that those present must have been surprised to see a battered old repair ship hyper into the system and pull into the ruined shipyards of the shattered station; I suspect that they may have asked themselves "What's he doing here?" as they were blowing the old girl into space dust.
My presence there was deliberate, and my intention was to die. Not a glorious death in battle, but simply a matter of closure.
Many of you have known me since I was born in the MCA in the middle of the big base siege in Game 1. Whether or not that qualifies me as a veteran I leave others to decide. In game 3, I was reborn into the League, and served, as is my preference, as a repairship. When Hoffer's gap blew, I nearly left the game, but chance landed me in the the Navy, our only allies, so I decided to give it another go. However, when precisely the same thing happened to the Navy, I started to suspect that perhaps I might be a jinx on any faction that was unfortunate enough to end up with me.
But seriously... for some time now, this game has become increasingly onerous to me and much of the fun has gone out of it. I have decided that the time has come to bow out of the game, at least for a while. I will continue to lurk here in the forum from time to time, but I will not be returning to the game. Perhaps in a week or month I make change my mind and return to the fray; time will tell. Those of you who play TVS will still see me, fighting, at least for the time being, on the side of the Boraxians. Unsurprisingly, I will be piloting a repairship...
Unlike so many people who have quit this game, I leave with no bitterness or ill will. DiegoEscobar I salute you, and your faction have been worthy opponents.

PS. I wonder what is going to happen to the TTW-OMAN-MCA alliance now...
