View Full Version : In A Bid To Improve The Game
In a bid to improve this game we can all say "this would be nice" or "that would be nice" etc.
However why don't we do something about it.
Don't put things in about how to improve it, leave that in another thread. This is a vote thread to petition on improving the game by sending the results to Particle and Infogrames so here we go.

I also think we need to ask them to give Wingee longer tea breaks, and maybe even free cakes , for doing all this out of the goodness of his own heart. Bless his little cotton socks!!! :bounce:
Hmmm, just looking at your profile Shed7, I always thought you where american, guess you never can tell just by talking to people.
Soon it will be our turn to fight again my friend watch yer back ;)

Actually, that makes 3 of us from the mighty North West - I'm a Manc though, so my accent isn't as daft as you two
Unfortunately I live over the border in Yorkshire, where some of the locals still speak viking....I feel like a civilised man stranded amongst barbarians :(

I make four He He this is a better thred.
"Were The Hell Are You From"
anyway back to the point yeah there are lots of little ways the game could be improved i think the way to make it ultmet would be a IRC for each faction a lot better for communication have the comms for orders and an IRC for idel chatter
That's as much as I can take.
Ha Ha. and Zrbyte my back is covered... is yours ???
good poll, and theres room for a sticky - this is the best candidate on the board, and i'd like to take the opportunity to ask everyone to vote.
195 views so far and 50-ish votes, so some of you ain't voting !!
tho it is a lot more than we've had for any other poll... but this is important, I'd say even the fall-off in activity on the board here is due to ppl beginning to get bored of the game, and that's only going to get worse... :/
the game needs to grow a bit if infogrames/PS want to get another 3 rounds out of it.
Personally I think its the best PR for Infogrames/PS that i've seen, I found EoCo first, bought Iw2-EoC afterwards, and will definately be keeping an eye out for Particle Systems developments in the future... Infogrames have also gone up in my estimation, and i'm more likely to buy their games...
also: EoCo has been the best recruitment agency for activity on Infogrames new forums, ok it's dropped off a bit lately, but it will rise again (join in a bit more ppl so they can see this plz, that may be the strongest way to show "the suits" the reward gained for more investment)

Erm... you guys are in the same faction? Or have I missed something here...?
Now... where's Kudos hiding to... ;)
Some peoples are complaining at HQ:s are a little bit easy to destroy.. ..so I was wondering.. ..what if;
Every turn you HQ grows for 10 shields for every planet you controll, it makes like 100 shields more for turn in 10 planets.. It do not sound much but at, let say turn 100, it make's 1 000 shields just for home planet.. ..and if you have a 10 planet it is 10 000 more shields..
I know at it is not so much as it might be but still, it is better then nothing, right??
One other thing what peoples are complaining is;
If you are repair ship and pick up a scrap, move you way back across galaxy and put it in you HQ you do not get even single bit of XP, not very nice or what you think??
Score for Scrap?
Scrap is part of the repair ships' duties... along with repairing the fighters.
As such, they *do* enjoy a certain amount of protection from the fighters, being their only real way to repair the battle damage done so far at high level.
It is also pretty funny to watch a fighter who thinks that they don't need repair ships actually getting to a high-ish level and then finding that their 150hp per move only does 750hp per turn - which works out at around 7% shields per turn... when repair ships can not only help, but also do around 3 times as much on average in the way of repairs.
Foolish is the fighter who upsets the repair ships... :)
I think that giving score to those repair ships who add the scrap to the HQ should only work if they also add a Dump Scrap button to the console... this way, a repair ship going back to HQ, could take the whole fleet's scrap in one go, rather than having 3 or 4 repair ships doing it.
The score shouldn't be too high though - it might lead to a similar situation to the kill-poaching we've all seen - where a fighter waits until the last second of a ship's life before firing on it, just to get the kill.
It shouldn't give points for picking it up - 1 turn doesn't deserve that much reward, but having a score for adding the scrap to the HQ would allow weekday-warriors (for example, those with full access only at work or school and part-time over the weekend) to still make the score, still be useful, but also still contribute to the faction.
One possible problem though would be excessive score increases... perhaps a maximum score might be useful here, or perhaps allowing a ship to go up 2 or more levels at once.
I would suggest a 10:1 ratio (scrap added : score gained).
I do not like idea of one ship take all the scrap and others keep rolling on.. ..I understand at low level ship wud prob. take the "honour" of it but still.. Maybe if max load of scrap is like 5000? [is there a limit, dunno never be a repairer  ]
No XP for picking up, 10:1 ratio and XP for installing scrap only;
That sounds good, and if we have max 5000 scrap what you can pick up (or if max get up for the level you are.. meaning 5000 for level 1 and you can add max load of scrap, let say 1 or 2000 per level? Level 10 only sky will be a limit?) the level 1 repairships can take only 500 XP max, and it take some time to pick up that much scrap anyway.

Every time you logg off or don't click in the forum for 20 minutes and visit this post again, the views go one point up!

thx Loccy, I really needed that !! it was obviously a failure of my natural pedantic tendancy, so how about " at least 200 EoCo players registered with this board, so some of you ain't voting !! etc..."=)
Taneli: Hq's already gain a variable amount of hp/turn according to the number of sectors held by the Faction. Points for repairships hauling scrap is a good idea for sure, tho i'd agree with BFalcon - let them dump it and and one person take it home - maybe with a limit to the cargospace....
BFalcon: catch me if you can ! nah-na-na-na-nah :grntngue:
=)
btw: there is loads of threads for suggestions, and we really don't need another, do we? - so plz try "Suggestions for game 4", if you want to discuss ideas... lets try and keep this thread for votes and opinions etc...
Catch you? I gotta FIND you dammit!! :(
I dunno... being Irish, I'm guessing that you're at the bar in Longshot downing Guinness... :)
well, I think this poll's been quite conclusive....
80 out of 97 Ppl Say YES ! Improve The Game Plz InfoGrames/PS !!
the most votes we've had ever on a Poll here, i'm stunned...
just do the same on your local election day eh guys/gals and maybe the world would be Improved too !?
[/rant]
=)
I think Kudos is right and I will write a letter in the next few days in light of the subject.
Thanks to everyone who voted. Thanks to my producer... [starts to cry] ... my family [collapses after rapture in audience]
INFOGRAMES HERE I COME.
How about an LDSi missile? Would that be too unbalancing?

in the game eoc2 someone made a fix so that you can remote controle another ship. how about pirate and get such a thing as that. also you could pirate and get a disable remote enable like a LDA. ?

A hold for unused equipment, missles, seekers. Often in a game, you will find LDA, ERDs, missles or seekers when you would rather not or can not use them. I would like to see an option to either use the found object or put into hold. Have a limit of 5 objects you can hold, you can dump an object in the hold if you find another object you would like to keep even more.
Found objects would end up using two moves. One when found, one when being used. So there would be an offset for this ability.

Wouldn't work. Everybody would constantly stock up on LDAs & gattlings, avoiding combat until prepared. It would get very silly.

Limit the size of the hold. 5 maybe too big, make it 3. Also, maybe use 2 moves when using stuf in the hold and 1 move to put something in the hold, so that it uses 3 moves total.
Sure, there will be people who would try to avoid combat until prepared, but that would be part of the strategy.

I have mailed Particle Systems with a nice letter detailing all that is going on here. And they have forwarded this onto Wingee and also to Infogrames.
I am gonna try and find somewhere for us to post a general spam for infogrames to take our comments on board (TRUST ME I ONLY NEED TO SEND BORIS =)
I will keep you all updated but wheels are in motion it's just a case of whether the good ship Infogrames has the inclination to move with the popularity.
Imagine if you had a game to promote and there was a place where over 500 dedicated gamesplayers regularly log into and can view the advert. THAT'S sounds cheap advertising to a concentrated audience to me =)

How about being able to hold 5 moves ie 10 moves so u could jump in with guns blazing now that would be cool i am open to critism but i cant see it getting silly.... :)
u couldn't jump in guns blazing as it takes a whole turn to get there... u could jump out guns blazing with 10 moves but thats a bit wimpy. :)
I think its pretty good the way it is now. I wouldn't mind seeing a carrier class that could take say 5 rank 1-4 ships in it and jump then all for the single cot of 5 moves to the carrier. It would make the lower ranked ships more of a threat if u could do that.

Would that work like this?
A level 6 could pick up/ hold 1 - lvl1 ship
Level 7 could pick up/hold 2-L1's or 1-L2
L8 : 3-L1's, 1-L1 and 1-L2, or 1-L3
L9 : 4 levels total
L10 : 5 levels total
All ships still docked to a ship that is killed die also. (this Would give the ship that gets the kill Multiple kills)
Cost of one move per ship picked-up/docked.(just like a repair ship picking up scrap.)
Undocking would be one move to the ship that undocks. Either the carrier or the low level.
a low level Firing will auto undock the low level.
Example: start of the turn 5 level 1 ships use four moves for fire/pirate. Then use one to dock to a level 10 ship. The level 10 ship jumps with all five ships. Next turn the 5 level ones use one move each to undock/fire. Then shoot 3 moves. Then use the last move to re-dock.
I do not think this would be a very easy thing to pull off for multiple turns.
this thread has served its good purpose well... I now consign it to journey to the deep... =)
+shed can lets us know in a new thread if he hears anything back.....
