Best HQ Defence

Who has put up the best HQ defence so far in Game 3?

Only 3 to choose from , but I think definitely some award worthy action has taken place.

If you think someone fought a more heroic struggle in game 1 or 2, let us know ( I can hear people tapping away to reveal all those ancient mysteries! ) :bounce:

I picked Other and i tell you what it Was. MCA Round 1 Fighting off the attack from TTW and The Oman at the same time that was good fighting. :tdown:

I am MCA, and I voted Navy. That was one helluva defense. They managed to survive twice as long as I had ever predicted, AND still carry on outside operations (Poor TTW) while being seiged by two factions (almost three but not quite) from either side. At least MCA only has to defend against two factions.

Can't I get an honorable mention about my boys??? Ok so it was sad. But you didn't even mention the MAAS. I thinkwe profected some technics for base defence. Anyway I'm glad that those guys accepted a female FC. :angel:

Anyway, as far as I am concerned Maas and League became the same as Navy as soon as their respective fleets joined with the Navy fleet. Without Maas and League, Navy would have been mercilessly crushed a lot sooner than they were.

But to tell you the truth the 3 or 4 failed attemps to destroy the MCA are quite impressive. I wonder how hard its going to get when there are only two remaining factions left...

MCA defence of longshot in game 1 about 600 pilots involved in the biggest HQ battle ever yet they held the oman and ttw fleets for turn after turn after turn without suffering significant damage to their HQ.

I have been most impressed with MCA so far - remember, they have held off both Oman and TTW, but also had to fight off Navy/Maas assault too. That shows a bit of character in my book -
someone over there in Smurf land must have been teaching smurfs how to fix bayonets and form a square! :)

Navy defence against MCA/Oman in this round. Rumour has it that TTW were involved at some point, but I think this is just idle gossip.

I remember the "Santa Romera - Assault here, die here" sig that... I think Spektyr?... was hanging around with.

I think that set the tone for the whole assault, really.

Also, I dont think you can really vote on the League HQ defence, since what they actually did was run away.

I just parked my crippled Corvette in HQ, and waited for the coup de grace.

I'm so glad I woke up orange, cos up to that point I had fought against the TTW since turn 3!Never saw the OMAN till they rescued me!

Now I'm proud to be in the Tango Commandos!!! :bounce:

no i wasn't I had to deal with RL for about 3 1/2 weeks so someone else was incharge. But thanks for the concern. :p

The only base defense is from the base itself and all the bases are equal, the question should be who has the best base attack team of the game and that boils down to who had the most people online at the time.
If it's numbers that's what should be counted but if it's opinions then the HQ that lasted the most amount of turns for the start of a seige would win. So far I think Navy did the best considering the 3 to 1 odds and the MCA but that was before anyone had high level ships.
But if you want the best offensive Base bashing team I think without a doubt it is the League hands down!!
Why? Because it only took a handful of their pilots to bring the TTW base to it's knees with the only help comming from a few of the Navy's finest. If they had had just a few more ships it would have been a different story. But those few did more damage in less time than I've seen entire factions do in a week long seige. :coolred:

The MCA are really the only faction to seriously attempt base defence in the last 2 games. Since we've proven completely indomitable, the theorists should maybe recheck their calculations.

The Navy defence was a classic example of how not to do it - after they'd lost the fiercely-fought field battles, their surviving high-levels all ran away & left Liberty to be destroyed. That certainly made our jobs easier while achieving precisely nothing for the Navy in the longer term.

BTW, before hordes of ex-Navy scream "We nearly..." - you didn't & you're all dead now, okay?

umm, I think you mean game1 + game3, or do you really think MCA should brag about their efforts in game 2 ?

Well its come down to Oman and MCA, with Firefrost as the No-Mans Land.

Personally, I think the Oman didn't do too badly just recently... attacking and defending at the same time is always hard... being the one with the remaining HQ is even worse...

Hats off though to the MCA, although again, there was the problem of the TTW trying to let the Oman take the brunt of the damage and not really committing as hard as they might have done otherwise... and then the Oman eased off to let the TW take some hits, since the MCA were aiming for us above all others...

I agree though that the MCA in g1 (after I left) was the best defense around, although again, alliance mistrust played its part there too... :(

I meant that nobody except the MCA (in this game) have seriously tried to defend a base for the last 2 games. Of course, there were a few attempts last game, but they were pretty half-hearted & ineffectual - with bases so small, it didn't seem to matter what the defenders did.

Apparently the Oman did defend successfully last night...

I don't know about you guys, but the idea of attacking christmas morning was nuts?? of corse all the details were fuzzy but hey... THERE is a stratigic time to attack, I think i recall a comm from the FC.. oh i'm not expecting an attack for another few days... Um, he forgot about the MAAS i guess, all I know is I woke up in green!!!! GREEN!!! THat was interesting... I wonder if I had wound up in a diffrent faction If I would have run the MAAS diffrently in Game 3??Maybe been able to destroy the MCA early?? or succesfully defended MAAS HQ... OR failed even harder???

was some of the best defending this game has seen of course we had help from the leauge and maas :madred:

but we had 3 factions coming at us :grntngue:

Best HQ defense was the Oman for keeping Shed at HQ so his former "faction" could get some back instead of taking out HQ/Repairing :devil:

That was indeed a stroke of genius, tekno monik, but the truly ironic thing was that we didn't come up with the idea! Shed was one of the first ships attacking Eureka HQ to go boom! It was the TTW who punted him back home and then told him to bend over when he got there.

It worked out great for us, and so we made sure he didn't go wandering off anywhere (you know how he is)... "Just close your eyes and think of Daru-HQ," we told him. :eekblue:

I think it was about 3 days, all told. The rest of the time was you lying on a beach somwhere, the breeze ruffling your hair & the friendly sun bronzing your body, while you were hankering after your wee room with the grey clouds outside but the PC inside...

You only dreamed Navy put up a fight... Certainly didn't happen on the server in this reality!

Do not worry, I only thought about for about 10 seconds, and relalized that i proabably prolonged the life of the faction..

Wish i could have seen the navy defence, but was stuck in RL.

Defanatly enjoyed the MCA repel of two seprate attacks. First from the Navy and MAAS and then just now from The T-Woman alliance. :D
