Have just been talking to another member, and curiosity is getting the better of me.....:D

As a car driver I allways sing along to the music while I drive, I wonder how many of you do, so here is a vote lets find out :)

Whitewolf

I don't drive, but I do sometimes follow the beat of the music by hitting things around the car.Does that count?
I voted sometimes.

*sings* "Whenever, whereever.....Iīll be there and you...thatīs the deal my dear...dubidubi...."

Whitewolf
15-03-2002, 11:10
lol,that song.
There's one very wierd line in it though.....

Diablo
15-03-2002, 11:11
"my breasts are small and humble...so you canīt confuse them with mountains...." :bounce:

Whitewolf
15-03-2002, 12:26
haha!
How come everyone I come across manages to catch that line?

Diablo
15-03-2002, 14:48
Cause I love the song !  I bought her album...really great !

Warspite
15-03-2002, 15:07
Which song?

*Oh no!! Now all the kids will think I'm not cool anymore... *

Diablo
15-03-2002, 15:10
SHAKIRA ! OF COURSE !

"WHEREEVER, WHENEVER"

Whitewolf
15-03-2002, 17:11
Shakira's of middle eastern descent(or so I hear).
Oh,what's your favourite song,DaisyDuke?

ol'redeyes
15-03-2002, 19:37
I must confess, I can't help myself, i'm the guy you see singing and playing air-guitar while driving down the motorway

sorry if I've hit any of you, but the music just takes over me. I think I might need help :bigeye:

Whitewolf
16-03-2002, 10:36
Haha!
I don't think so. :)
Some people sing the songs so loud, that if you're right next to the car,you can hear them sing, even with the doors closed and windows up.

Diablo
17-03-2002, 00:56
okok...I not THAT loud ! :bigeye:

Whitewolf
17-03-2002, 06:44
Haha!
You'll be surprised......
There's such things as elderly people singing old chinese songs that loud in their cars.
Then, there're the elderly ones who drive sports cars and have stero system in their cars playing techno music at full blast.Their heads are usually bobbing up and down to the beat, and they tap on their steering wheels to the beat too.

Shakira's a latina girl. I believe she's Mexican(might sound dumb of me but she used to sing in spanish).

I sing sometimes when a song really grabs my attention.

Shakira is from Colombia, some say she is their second finest export...

Does anyone find the pan-pipes at the end of "Whenever, Wherever" a little out-of-place?

Warspite
21-05-2002, 12:21
Shakira? I'm pretty sure she was the talentless chimp I saw on Top of the Pops sometime last month.

She was attempting to sing live, and it was possibly the worst sung, and definitely the most po-faced performance I have ever seen.Sorry.

* I am armour plated, but I would appreciate you not throwing things at me.My nerves are not what they used to be...all that "KLANG"-ing really sets my teeth on edge..*

I sing along to either Dean Martin or Meatloaf.

Kolbeinn
21-05-2002, 22:59
I'm no fan of Shakira. Nor am I a fan of pop music. I much prefer Rock (but not Metal, Thrash, Nu-metal, or punk), Classic Rock, Rock n' Roll, Electronica (including Trance (for some reason, Trance is widely misunderstood; people think it is something else), house (yet not happy/hardcore), and a lot of **** from the 1980's (New Order, Peter Gabriel...).

My favourite band is Oasis, my fave album is Definitely Maybe. I sing along in the car because I know all the words to every song on that album
Next would be Guns 'n Roses - Appetite for Destruction. I know most of the words to the songs on that, too. OK, I'll shut up now...

DaisyDuke

Hey Guy's :)

Oh,what's your favourite song,DaisyDuke?
:( sorry for the late response Whitewolf RL-
Favourite song, that's hard to answer, all time fav has to be Tasmin Archer - "In your care"......

But for when I am driving I would chose something like - Girls at play, " Air head", or Savage Garden, "Affirmation".....I usually keep that album in the jeep, so many good tracks... :D

Guns and Roses and Meatloaf are good too :)

I like to listen to Rock. I'm only 19 so my bands may be different from the older people, but I do listen to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and others.

"We've got the World in Motion
And I cant believe its true

We're singing for England
ENGERLAND
We're singing this song
Singing for England
ENGERLAND
Arrivederci, It's one on one"

And wasn't John Barnes the worst "rapper" of all time?
Happy days..

Tenny, if you like New Order (and I had ALL their records when I was a kid, and still liten to them all the time) - go see 24 Hour Party People. I loved it, but then I'm a Manc., so it meant more to me..

First question was - do you sing while driving?

Yes of course I do

In the violent city I live it is great to sing Hardcore Rap like Rage against the machine or punk like UKSubs or Dead Kennedys and even the Sex Pistols.

To show that I am not one-sided:

I love also good old Hard Rock - like Scorpions, Megadeth, Motorhead or Rainbow if I am in nostalgic mood.

If I am in a very very silent mood - then it is Midnight Oil, Element of Crime, Fury in the Slaughterhouse or even Velvet Underground.

Brings me back to my problem:

As a Mark II driver (Ford Consul, build 1959) - I had some problems to install the radio - so I just threw a ghetto blaster on the back and connected it with the battery

The Stone Roses were a good Manc band :) "Fools Gold" is timeless.

I remember seeing the Stone Roses when they were a support act for James at the International2..(1986)..
And I even remember queuing up with all the other cool kids outside Piccadilly Records to buy their first album :rollani:

I have no preference when it comes to music.I'll listen to anything,so long as it's not noise.
By 'noise',I meant wailing kids,off-key piano music, that sort of stuff.

I mostly like New Age / Instrumental Rock music. My favourite artists are Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, Enya and Enigma. However I listen to many kinds of music. Currently I am listening a Scorpions' album when going to bed (I ALWAYS need to listen to some music when going to bed)

DS

Also, my brother is just considering getting rid of his enormous collection of LPs which date back to the mid 70s, for which he has no room, so I'm just having a look through to see if there's anything I want to transfer onto a CD or two, and I've just dug up his Pink Floyd albums...

Anyone care to reveal their age and admit to remembering ones like Julia Dream or Remember a Day? Ah, nostalgia...

Sure! I still have a LP player and looking for some old and rare discs from people like Duran Duran, Mike and the mechanics, Foreigner, Reo Speedwagon, Asia, Rainbow, etc...

Sorry if I misled you, folks! But when I said "getting rid of" he isn't planning on throwing them all into a skip – he's got a mate who he reckons will take most of them off him. (This mate having a house, whereas my brother has a rented flat).

If there's anything left over that has to go down to the tip I'm sure it won't be anything rare or he wouldn't do it.

He's letting me have a sort through them first, but to be honest I doubt if there'll be even an hour's worth that will be of interest to me – like I say, there's not that much music I like. I tend to prefer silence, odd though that may seem to music lovers. I'm more a visual person – I like paintings, photographs, films. And books of course!

There are just a few that stick for some reason – the odd favourite tracks from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Mike Oldfield, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Tangerine Dream, The Strawbs...

...more isolated cases where there'd be only one song by a particular band; The House of the Rising Sun, Nights in White Satin, Golden Brown, I don't Like Mondays, Vienna, Enola Gay...

...actually, now I come to think about it, I suppose there are quite a few in total... :eekblue:

Anyway, enough of that. The point is, there must be around a thousand LPs (certainly more than five hundred), many by bands I don't even remember having heard of. It'll keep me busy for the next few weeks if nothing else.
