SO IT ALL BEGAN.
"Sir, We Have identified the Alliance Navy Flagship."
"Good, now we just need some men to ambush it. Send a comms message to all ships: Request for volunteers for a most probably a suicide mission."
The comms chimed once again as I was just undocking from HQ to do some target practice... Request for volunteers... That sounded interesting, but I still had other chores to do first...
After some target practice I felt confident enough to fly to the L-Point that connected Longshot to Balley's World.
"Computer, initiate CJ, target Balley's World."
"Confirm order?"
"Confirmed"
"Capsule Drive online, power at 70%... 80%... 90%... 100% Initiating Jump Sequence."
And the known space around vanished as my ship jumped to the oh so familiar orange reddish "tunnel" of Capsule Space. Now it was time to read the comms backlog.
"One minute until re-entry, prepare for normal space pilot."
That damned computer always woke me up in the WRONG time, it had been wonderful dream.
A Flash of blinding white light erupted on the L-Point as my ship dropped to normal space...
"Computer, sector scan."
"Scanning... ... ... ... Alliance Navy ships on defensive orbits around Balley's World. ECM Decoys found, generating list..."
There it was, the remnants of the Alliance Navy Fleet that had attacked our HQ, I put full thrust to engines and swooped straight into the battle, there were other MCA ships here too, actually alot of them.
The battle was atleast for me quite one-sided, no-one fired at me, I could do my dirty work in peace.
"Pilot, two AN ships breaking orbit for L-Point, destination unknown."
"Forget them, there's enough targets here anyways."
The battle lasted for few days, then Balley's World was once again under the loving embrace of MCA protection. Comms were full of greetings for the victoriuos pilots and their ships, status reports etc. flooded the channels. Then I remembered the one message as it was repeated on comms. I decided it was time to volunteer.
"Computer, Comms, Message, To ... Samurai_1337, Reply to ... Request, Subject..." I typed the message in and encrypted it with the standard encryption.
"Pilot, you have a personal message in Comms." This soon? I didn't expect answer so soon, well... I HAD volunteered afterall.
So it was, I was invited into a volunteer squad... Squad that was to be known as the Suicide Squad. I got an invitation to visit the Squad Leader ship as it was also here in Balley's World.
"Computer, Locate Samurai_1337, engage AutoDock."
"Confirm?"
"Confirmed."
Shortly after I had docked, I was greeted by Samurai_1337 himself and by other squad members that were here in BW.
"So I welcome you all to the Suicide Squad!" Samurai spoke.
It took some time to greet all the pilots that had volunteered, now we knew each other. Samurai then went on telling us WHY this squad had been formed in the first place and what was expected from us in the future. Of course we ALL agreed, why else we would have even CONSIDERED volunteering...
It was then time to depart for we had a new objective, Toadskin.
"Computer, Undock, head for Toadskin L-Point."
"Confirm Undock?"
"Confirmed"
It was a short flight to the L-Point, there were nice little fleet of ships aligning for jump. Comms chimed responses for queue slots.
"Computer, initiate CJ, target Toadskin, wait in queue, fly shotgun for Samurai_1337."
"Confirm CJ, explain shotgun?" Damn... I had forgotten to load up my old command alias module for this new ship...
"Computer, Explanation .. Shotgun ... To fly as wingman for Squad Commander. Explanation .. Squad Commander .. Samurai_1337."
"Explanation stored."
"Computer, Confirm original order."
Now I could sit back and let the computer handle the jump, it had allready locked to Samurai's signature for jump sign.
Minutes went by and then the Capsule Drive hummed to life. I saw Samurai start to move and then the familiar engine flare as CD kicked in. It was time to go...
"Pilot, re-entry in one minute."
Again I had dosed off while in capsule space... it started to be a habit... a BAD Habit...
Flash of light and we were there, Toadskin...
"Computer, sector scan."
"Scanning ... ... ... Alliance Navy ships in defensive orbit's, ECM Decoys detected, sorting targ..."
"Nevermind the list, there's only one good target, lock on baalsabboth, all weapons.
"Locking on baalsabboth... Locked, Attack order?"
It just sat there... among the few ECM Decoys, I wondered if this was a TRAP... No it couldn't be.
"Standard assault."
"Executing"
Now all I had to do was to press the fire button when we would be on range, the computer would handle everything else.
"Computer, Comms, To ... ALL, Subject ... STATUS REPORT: TOADSKIN, Body ... Target List."
"Sent."
There it was, now everyone else too knew what we had here, it really wasn't much to bother.
.... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 2
It was now or never, baalsabboth had allready suffered great damage by all attackers, I was just coming in range as I saw a AN ship power up and vanish only seconds later.
"COMPUTER! Track that ship, did it JUMP?"
"Negative, no CJ trace from ship, location unconfirmed."
"Damn it must have powered down."
"Please rephrase order?"
Idiot computer, if you spoke out your thoughts it did think that an order was given... someone should do some major reprogramming on the Voice Control Module.
Then I was in range and let Baalsabboth know my ships full power, The Neutron PBCs did fast job of it's diminishing shields and soon the ship was shredding to pieces. A huge explosion ripped it, as the reactor core was breached.
"Pilot, Escape Capsule leaving target."
"Forget it, we're not murderers."
The EC made a hasty flight to nearest L-Point and vanished to capsule space, most probably jumping to nearest AN controlled system. There it was, the system was now clean, only few ECM Decoys left, and maybe some powered down ships that were to be hunted down soon.
MCA presence in the system had also grown as more ships had jumped in.
"Computer, Systems Map, Magnification 75%"
"Bringing up."
It was nice to see that Mwari home systems were once again all under the loving embrace of Mwari Colonial Alliance Defence Forces. Also the Alliance Navy had had some trouble with their home systems as the Ex-League ships, having their HQ blown to smithereens almost a week earlier now controlled St.Elmo. AN probably would push them out of there soon. MAAS Corporation now also hold only it's home systems, after being pushed out of Garden. The 3rd Way, those ultrareligious types controlled not only their home systems, but also FireFrost and two former League systems, Corinthia and Hoffer's Heel. Omans on the other hand controlled former League systems Alexander, Greenback and Hoffer's Gap and their home systems. Touchdown was a split between TTW, Oman and League.
"Computer, Systems Map off."
Comms were once again full of activity, ships reporting in kills, statuses and general messages of just about anything you could think of. There was a one message that kept popping up again and again, another request for a new Squad, Dragons Of Fury. Apparently the requester Crashpoints didn't get much attention, or he was just advertising.
I decided to take a look around the Toadskin system as the activity was now mostly over. Repairships were cutting the hulk of Baalsabboth's now destroyed Repairship into much more manageable pieces and generally hunting down those literally billions of smaller scrap pieces floating around, so that they wouldn't cause us any harm later.
The little fighter craft of Marinus was blown to atoms after it was send spinning uncontrollably by the previous hits of Heavy PBC bolts. No one did take the honor of destroying him, which baffled me, why not take the honor?
There was some comms chatter as my Squad Commander came online.
"Hey, you asked for kills, I got one half a day back, record that."
"Roger that."
There were squad members here, it was nice to see friends around. Warhawk and Lycanthrope floated waiting for action. Comms chatter on the squad channel was quite active, for everyone wanted to say something.

SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 3
"Pilot, Orders from SC."
So it was, and what nice orders too, though these were to be followed in secrecy. So I created a jump routine that the computer would follow.
"Computer, Execute jump routine One."
"Executing."
Comms chimed as The FC send in system scans. ****! There was a full fleet in St.George, departing now would mean Toadskin would be left defenseless...
"Computer, Abort jump routine."
"Aborting."
I turned my ship around and put a little thrust on as I jockeyed back to a stable orbit around Toadskin.
"Computer, Piracy Scan. Lets see if there's something of value floating around."
"Executing... ... ... WARNING! Marauder ships detected."
Moments later shields screamed as their PBC bolts tore into them.
"Shields at 93% and holding."
The Marauder Pack had gone as fast as they had appeared.
"Ship powering up, signature... Alliance Navy."
"Attack routine, Spearhead."
"Executing Spearhead."
My ship spun wildly around as I tried to get this AN ship into my sights. There it was! Anderson Class SnRV Repairship, shields already down to 33%. Second later they went down even more as numerous Neutron PBC bolts ripped into them. Only after what seemed a second the SnRV Exploded jettisoning an escape capsule that promptly jumped into capsule space.
"Computer, Comms, To ... ALL, Subject ... Kill, Body ... Last target data."
"Sent."
I flew through the debrii cloud as I went for a stable orbit once again. That ******* had tried to be sneaky and had tried to float unpowered to the L-Point and then jump only seconds after powering up. But it didn't help, he got wasted.
"Computer, Piracy Scan. Lets see if there's something of value floating around."
"Executing... ... ... ... Cargo Pod located, Self Training Module. Pickup?"
"Yes."
So I loaded that thing up and got a bit more experienced. The AN Fleet decided apparently to sit on their asses in St.George as there were no CJ traces incoming from there.
"Pilot, we have been repaired by a repairship, shields at 100%"
"Send a thankyou message to that ship."
"Sending... ..."
"ECM Decoy found, activating." There it went, slowly heating up to produce exact amount of heat that my ship produced, same level of EM radiation etc.
"Cargo Pod located, Self Training Module. Picking up." Another one of these babies, I felt wiser once again, these were good but true combat of course was the experience giver, it just was so that there was no one to shoot at now.
There was comms chatter as the day turned. A lone MAAS Corporation fighter tried to invade Darwin, only to find out that he was looking into the wrong end of HeartOfGold's PBC's.
"That's one less idiot here. Carl Nilsson of MAAS is history!"
Other incident brewed in Cassandra as Capt. Coyote of Alliance Navy jumped in and was greeted warmly by the waiting MCA ships, he was hit hard by Silversurfer as he had found a Gatling Cannon floating around
"Take that you S.O.B!"
The GC rounds tore into the shields buckling them under the barrage. RockersFist came into the fray firing it's Heavy PBC's that tore into Coyotes shields and made them waiver, it would not take much more to cripple them all together
"It's POSTAL time for you AN Scum! You get this for trying to Assasinate the FC!"
"Hey he's getting away! And only 14% of shields left."
Then the FC came in. "He's coming here boys, we'll finish him."
"Khehehe, you do that, Cassandra out."
Later there was comms again from the FC
"Got him, or actually Sparhawk got him, I just got few shots into him before he was too far away. Well, that's one less AN to worry about. Trash belongs to the trashcan."
HeartOfGold was quite anxious to get more ships to Darwin as there weren't many there.
... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 4
There were comms indicating more ships setting jump routes into Darwin space. Then the FC send some comms regarding the oncoming assault on Alliance Navy space, specificly St.George. It was so that the attack would commence half a day from the timestamp on the message.
Our beloved SC also sent comms that left some of us baffled as to what to do, als o he appointed me to stand in as Vice Commander in his absense. A little comms chat with the FC cleared what the Suicide Squad should do. So I started to act accordingly.
"Computer, Comms, To ... Squad, Subject ... ORDERS, Strong encryption."
"Encryption seeded, please type in your message."
I typed in the orders and then set my self on a course that would take me where I needed to be.
There some cajoling in comms from Cassandra, a lone NAVY fighter was inbound, to spy they presumed, but it would not get away they said. There was a lot of comms chatter involving the pending attack, ships firing up their systems to get ready, FC giving out orders to others regarding the fleet composition and attack formation. The FC also promised to provide up to date data on AN systems by his long range scanners.
SC also sent a message that reassured me of the choices I had made in orders so far. Though I maybe have to change them to some extent to remedy the situation, when on location.
FC sent in the Good guys/Bad Guys list, it was quite nice a read too.
It was boring to spend almost a half a day just looking at the capsule space "tunnel" whirling by. Just comms to listen / read. There certainly was something "in the air" as they say. Comms were more active than in the last day, pilots were querying info on where to go.
There was comms from Cassandra, pilots there had cleared the system from any enemy ships.
"Computer, Systems Map, 80% magnification."
As the holomap flickered to life there was surprise in Darwin, MAAS Corporation had acquired foothold there, otherwise the map was quite same as before.
"Computer, Systems Map, Close."
As I dropped from capsule space into Cassandra, I saw a blinding flash and then a growing ball of flame near the L-Point that connected Cassandra into FireFrost.
"YYyyeehaw! That NAVY ******* didn't even know what hit him."
It was RockersFist that had planted a Seeker Mine just outside the L-Point exit cone. The mine had promptly blown the AN pilot Mainsystems fighter into billions of ittybitty pieces.
There was comms chatter as pilots debated what to do with the MAAS incursion into Darwin, plans were suggested and abandoned, then new ones suggested.
There it was, RockersFist departed from orbit and headed for Garden L-Point.
"Computer, Formate with RockersFist."
I was not going to eat my words of supporting him. My ship lined up with RockersFist and then the CD hummed to life. Moments later I was AGAIN looking at the capsule space... It was coming way too familiar.
There was comms from a small task force that had jumped into Alliance Navy space just to find out that AN was expecting them to come. Fortunately they all got away in one piece.
On the other hand Darwin had come all red, apparently MAAS now had total control of the system, which was going to change... Soon. RockersFist was gathering ships from Garden to join in our journey to Darwin.
Our Squad was a little baffled at the location of it's members, as we were spread all over our own space. I assured them that the plan was going as previously told, maybe just a little delayed.
... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 5
I dropped out of capsule space behind RockersFist and some other ships that had followed us into Darwin. Sector scan showed just one lonely MAAS fighter sitting there. This was really a waste of time... So I just flipped my ship over and punched in the return coordinates.
Comms were alive again. The attack on St.George had met heavy resistance and had failed. Luckily no ships were lost. There was much chatter on comms why it had failed and what could be done about it.
Lycanthrope sent a squad comm that he had intel on the whereabouts of the Alliance Navy FC, but after a while this seemed to be proven false. A lone AN ship was spotted in Balley's World, but it was left unclear did this Executor get away in one piece. Then there was comms from Toadskin.
"That one was mine! One less AN ******* to worry about." It was Merlin that had the honor of killing Executor.
Coordinating attack to St.Elmo was harder than I had thought. It would clearly take a small miracle to succeed but it had to be done. It was now clear that the rumors of Alliance Navy harboring League refugees was true. AN used them as a shield, a living shield between us and them, it had to change.
Then I heard a familiar voice on Squad comms chan, it was our SC once again back in the action, and what a plan he had.
"Computer, Initiate CJ, target FireFrost."
"Confirm?"
"Confirmed."
"Setting course to L-Point, Capsule Drive online... 80%... 90%... 100%. Drive charged and ready."
So I broke orbit around Cassandra and flew towards the L-Point. Aligning for the jump took a bit longer as normal as it was FireFrost. The only place in the whole Cluster that was feared by everyone.
It was a normal star until a few million years ago it went BOOM as a SuperNova. Now the system was full of countless micrometeoroids, pieces of planets blown to smithereens by the nova, and a ElectroMagnetic Radiation to match. That bright white dwarf that was left of the star, pumped out so much EM that sensors were close to useless in there. There was actually so much debris in the system that you took damage in there despite every possible countermeasure you could think of. Moving around was even badder.
I decided it wasn't safe to be here, so I just waited long enough for the capsule drive to recharge itself and then headed out of FireFrost as planned. There were few of my Squad mates also following, so I wasn't exactly alone here even if it felt like so. So many of those Third Way ships trying to make out here, some Omans too.
"Shields at 99% and holding, light damage from micrometeoroids."
As the capsule drive cut out once again I was in Corinthia, former League sector, now firmly under Third Way Protectorate command. There were quite a many of their ships here too, lucky us we have an alliance with them, although I don't personally like them a bit. I didn't spend much longer here, just waited the CD to charge up and then jumped again.
"Pilot, re-entry in one minute."
Once again I braced myself for the impending CD cut out. A slight jolt and a bright flash and here it was Hoffer's Heel Asteroid Mining Base in all it's glory. And it wanted to communicate with me.
"Incoming Mwari Colonial Alliance ship, be advised that your stay here is only tolerated because of our alliance."
"Roger that."
Not so much of their forces here, few ships and one MAAS Corporation fighter too... What the hell... Well, I wasn't going to stay here too long either.
"Computer, Initiate CJ, Target Touchdown."
"Capsule Drive online and charged, aligning for jump... Initiating Jump Sequence."
Here I was in Touchdown and waiting for my comrades to get here so the assault on Hot Rock could start.
"Computer, Piracy Scan. Let's if theres something out there."
"Scanning... ... ... Cargo Pod found, pickup?"
"Yes."
Whoa! some old timer documents, very interesting and enlighting reading.
"Shields at full strength."
Ephahistos had repaired us and now he complained about the lack of work, sheezz...
"Computer, Start charging the Capsule Drive."
"Capsule Drive charging."
Our Fleet Commander was going to resign... A good commander but he had too much in his hands so he needed to take time from somewhere. In the instant a heated discussion broke out on the General comms about his successor. Romeo69 was nominated by many, so he humbly accepted. Now it was only waiting time to see who got the job when the votes would be counted in about two days time.
MAAS Corporation was getting pounded by both Third Way and Oman, they had lost control of most of their home systems and it would be a struggle for them to regain them.
"Pilot, re-entry in one minute."
A Flash and there I was with Lycanthrope and SparHawk. Hot Rock was virtually undefended, only three Alliance Navy ships and one lone MAAS fighter. I felt that this was going to be a good day afterall.
Alliance Navy ship ]Link[ concentrated his fire on Lycanthrope, so me and SparHawk were in the clear to use him as target practice. It was like a mini 4th of July there, PBC bolts, flares, missiles flying all over the place. I got in few good hits tearing ]Link['s shields with my Neutron PBCs. AN was probably scared stiff now, they KNEW we were here, and almost all of their heavy hitters were on the other side of their home cluster.
The FC also sent in Long Range Scan of St.George. It seemed that the Alliance Navy / League was making everything it could that we wouldn't be able to capture that system.
As Independence and FireBall dropped out of Capsule Space we contrated our fire on ]Link[ so he could not getaway. Then I got a message I didn't expect. I was to be commended and be given a new ship to commandeer. I had gathered enough combat experience it seemed.
"Got him!" Lycanthrope yelled into the comms as a fireball bloomed near his ship, the final bolts of his Heavy PBCs tore ]Link['s drive core open as it exploded in the same instant. Someone made Spartacus's little fighter to spin uncontrollably as it got hit by PBC bolts in rapid succession. With only a few percent of shields left he didn't seem to have any chance of getting out in one piece.
Capt.Coyote had acquired a new ship after his last demise in Garden and now he was driven out. It was now Mwari Colonial Alliance Defence Force Squad Suicide in control of Hot Rock system. The MAAS guy had also gained a new ship, and so far everyone had ignored him as a target.
I did some digging into the ships memory banks on Hot Rock and came up with the following from Encyclopedia Galactica.
"Hot Rock, a barren rock world orbiting aging Orange star. Orbital Radius: .43AU, Mean Average Surface Temperature: +121 Celcius, Planet is tidally locked (it means that it has always the same side towards the star.) No registered settlements, primarily used for mining."
No wonder the Alliance Navy didn't put much emphasis on protecting it.
... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 6
That was certainly fun to see. Noseque, the MAAS fighter went after the last AN ship and promptly disbanded it with it's Rapid-Fire PBCs. Pieces of the little fella started to spew everywhere as he spun around and got pelted with PBC bolts. Then a small explosion and he was gone. Noseque did a little 'I got him' maneuver, but now his days were counted, he wouldn't have enough power anymore to jump out, and before he could recharge it would be all over for him. Unless of course the Alliance Navy would get it's fleet in Brotherhood arranged and would attack.
Then Noseque got his share of the 'be in receiving end' deal as he got hit hard by numerous PBC bolts, after a while he stabilised his fighter but he had lost half of his shields.
Now most us were here and W.Commander had stumbled upon a powered down Alliance Navy ship. That was then promptly destroyed. Afterall we didn't want anyone to stab us in the back.
"Khehehe, I found a hidden weapons dump. Capt. Kirk is no more."
There was a fireball blossoming out in the darkness of space, marking Capt. Kirks demise.
The FC provided us a bit more recent Long Range Scan of Brotherhood and it was what we had hoped. Our assault on Hot Rock had drawn quite a few AN ships out of St.George. What was unexpected was the MAAS Corporation fleet there too.
Then there were traffic again on the comms, MAAS Corporation HQ had been destroyed, so now they were too near extinct. It seemed that Alliance Navy had done a deal with the MAAS Corporation too, as more and more MAAS ships end up in AN controlled systems.
"Computer, Initiate CJ, target Brotherhood, Jump on mark."
"Bringing Capsule Drive online, Drive charging... 90%... 100%, Waiting for mark."
I aligned my ship for the jump and started to wait, so did others. Flash jumped first, SparHawk followed shortly after.
"Mark."
The low hum of the CD became louder as it kicked in. Then the shaking... and I was on my way, again looking at that "tunnel" of capsule space.
A flash of light and we were in Brotherhood.
"Computer, Sector scan."
"Scanning... ... ... ... Alliance Navy and MAAS Corporation ships detected, sorting target list."
Whooaaa... and what a list it was. I saw from a corner of my eye how Honourable got pincered and was even hit by a remote missile, his ships was starting to quiver as the barrage shredded his shields.
"Pilot, Alliance Navy Fleet Commander located. Designation Wal_Nai."
He was here! We would do everything in our power to make sure he wouldn't get away alive. But Honourable didn't look that good, he'd lost atleast third of his shields and the ship had a few burning gas plumes emitting from it's surface, so he had taken internal damage.
Others of us were not targetted, but the sheer number of ships here made sure that sometime in the near future we would get our share of the barrage.
There they were! Our reinforcements dropping out of capsule space and Alliance Navy ships too. Our repairships went immediately to work so Honourable and Flash would survive longer, while doing it they themselves got targeted and were hit by PBC bolts, Gatling rounds and missiles.
Then it was all over for Flash, he was besieged by a group of enemy fighters and shortly after a great orange ball of flames blossomed where I had seen him last time.
I tried to contact him, but got only static on comms. I just hoped that he had gotten away in Escape Capsule. Honourable also did a U-Turn and raced to the L-Point, our task here was done. We had drawn quite a number of ships from St.George's direction and now we just wanted to stay alive. SparHawk made a retreat too, he was being smart, I wasn't. Stubborn as I was, I wanted to get some shots in yet.
Then it was Ephahistos... I saw a Remote Missile going in his general direction and after a while there was a light show in his direction, he had finally bought it, it took them over 5 hours to kill him. Sorry for loosing him, but hopefully he'd gotten into EC before the last explosions. I fired a barrage of Neutron PBC bolts into Spektyr while passing him by on my way to the L-Point.
"Computer, Emergency Jump, target Hot Rock."
"WARNING, this action will drain accumulators, ship will be left defenceless."
"DO IT!"
"Executing Emergency Jump routine, shutting down non-critical systems."
The ship shuddered as I flew through the debris that a while sooner was Ephahistos. Then I was in the L-Point and went through without aligning. I would come out blind but atleast alive.
... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 7
As I and others of our Suicide Squad jumped into Hot Rock, we knew that the Alliance Navy would follow us. Honourable got the worst part of it. There was also a word of joy, W.Commander had survived from the siege in Brotherhood. His ship looked very bad, it was missing whole sections of its hull, drive systems barely clinging to life. He made the wise choice and went straigth to Touchdown.
The losses on the retreat from Brotherhood were terrible. WarHawk, Lycanthrope, Honourable, Independence. Great ships, all destroyed by the Alliance Navy. But we had done what we were going to do, draw Alliance Navy / League / MAAS Corporation ships from the St.George front. Now we were going to do it again by creating a havoc on St.Elmo system.
Again we were faced with a Alliance Navy / League / MAAS Corporation joint fleet that outnumbered us almost 3 to 1, I ordered everyone to pull back into Hoffer's Heel. But W.Commander didn't make it this time, he was obliterated by a huge siege by almost all of the enemies.
I was also targeted by a number of AN ships, before I could jockey myself to the L-Point I had lost third of my shields in the barrage. Crashpoints had survived also! This was good news, as now we could make an escape. So there it was, we had succeeded in our diversion. The fleet in Toadskin had now a chance of taking St.George and they used it.
There was a huge debate on comms about the future of MCA, squads, plans and so on. As St.George was now ours we had a chance of destroying the Alliance Navy once and for all. Third Way and Oman were going to attack them through St.Elmo
Then the attack on Mercy began, at first it was just a scouting raid but after some hours it was for real. Huge fleet of allied MCA, Oman and Third Way ships jumped in started the war with the AN and MAAS / League remnants. It was just about a total chaos in Mercy space. Hundreds of ships jockeying for good firing positions, PBC bolts, Gatling Rounds, Missiles of just about every possible type, Decoys, Debris floating. The scanner was so overloaded that it was a small miracle you could do anything in there and not get killed.
Ships were destroyed from every side, explosions ripping them open like they were tin cans, crippled hulks ramming into others making kamikazi attacks. Small and deadly fighters swooping down on bigger ships and barraging them. The heavy cruisers and destroyers locked into combat, using their beam weapons to slice up each other. And amid all this the repairships tried to keep their own in battle condition. Losses were heavy, but the AN / MAAS / League suffered most, they were to be wipen out.
I myself got the attention of one group and my shields buckled under the pressure of their assault. The ship was dropping systems offline for trying to accommondate for the increased need of power in shields but nothing helped, after they were done with me, my shields had dropped down to 50% and I was practically blind and deaf as the computer had shut down almost all systems. Luckily the repairships were close and soon I was again in fit condition.
It had been a quiet week for me, I had to park my cruiser to Longshot HQ for personal reasons and not be out there in the action. That week saw us finally taking Mercy system with the help of TTW. I also relieved myself of Suicide Squad command as the squad was mostly gone now and transferred into TSWNN (The Squad With No Name) that had suffered greatly while taking the Mercy system.
"Computer, Undock."
"Releasing docking clamps." *Cchhoomm*
The ship shuddered as I undocked once again from Longshot HQ and set out for a trip to Mercy.
... To Be Continued ...
SO IT ALL BEGAN, Chapter 8
When I got to Mercy the attack on Liberty HQ had allready started, so I joined them. It was a furious fight as the AN fleet tried to hold off our cruisers that were pounding the station. Oman ships had come here too so the HQ really didn't have a chance. The automated defences tore up anyone foolish enough to try to attack the station without any support of other ships. Even heavily armed and armored Cruisers took a hell of a beating while attacking it. It took our combined forces few days to kill that station but after it had been wipen out, it was "Kill the AN" time all over the galaxy. Third Way had some nasty surprise attack to their HQ by a fleet of AN ships that managed to drop it's shields down to half.
We had trouble among ourselves with the now Ex AN pilots that we've scooped up after destroying their ships, they were furious to say the least and didn't want anything to do with the MCA command structure. But slowly it seemed that they accepted their faith and started to act accordingly too.
Then it was a debate of which one we should declare war next. The Third Way or The Oman. We decided that Oman were the enemy we wanted and made it clear to TTW that we would be allied with them. Bur only a day later the shock hit us, TTW declared also war ON US! They had decided that Oman was a better ally than us... Now we were facing a huge battle for our sectors...
There was then debate on what we should exactly do, attack either HQ or just stay put and defend our sectors. And then it started. At first Omans came through Mercy to St.George and all the way to Balley's World, from where they were repelled. TTW attacked Darwin and when we pulled out from there they came to Garden, where we had put up the defence.
There we wasted a few of their ships, but the force TTW had forced us to retreat into HQ and to it's safety. I was jumping into HQ with my cruiser barely intact as TTW had concentrated their fire on me and so I had lost more than two thirds of my shields and just about every non-critical system had been shot to pieces. After I arrived into HQ the repairers went straight to work trying to get me back into fighting condition. It prooved to be a "battle" we would lose. TTW Cruisers jumped right after me and when they arrived, they couldn't care less of the HQ, just went straight after my ships in the drydocks. I could just watch in horror from the station as the repair vessels sprung away when the PBC bolts started to slam into my already damaged cruiser. There were Missiles and Beams too when the cruisers got near enough to use them. Just under 4 hours and my beatiful cruiser + the drydock it was in were reduced to unrecognisable pile of junk.
"Sorry about your Cruiser, sir." The Station Quartermaster was really apologetic.
"Just assign me a fighter son."
"OK, let's see... There's one on bay 1102, I'll fetch a guide bot for you. Just a sec."
Few moments later a small flying thing appeared from the hallway, it looked like a two big dining plates stuck together and the center replaced with a fan.
"Hi! I am your guide bot. Where you want to go?"
"Docking bay 1102."
"Thank you. Please follow me. We must take a superlift down to level 11."
I watched from the clear windows how the battle raged out there, our ships were furious and wanted to avenge my ships destruction by any price.
"Bay 1102. Do you need my service anymore?"
"No. You're free."
"Have a nice flight!" The bot chirped while spinning around and flying off to guide someone else.
I entered the docking bay to look at my "new" ship. A lousy fighter! Well, I had to do away what I was given so off to work it was.
"Systems check ship."
"All systems on green, ready."
"Open bay doors. Disengage docking locks."
And then I was again out there amidst all the other ships battling eachother. I took a target from one of the nearby TTW Cruisers and let my Rapid Fire PBC do it's magic, but it was like bee trying to sting a tank, I did virtually nothing to it's shields.
There was much going on the Comms and I did add my own there too, with the suspicions that the TTW "assassination" squad was infact not after our FC but me. Slowly but surely it was more obvious that this assault on our HQ was to be repelled successfully. We lost another Cruiser in the process, but TTW and the few Omans who came here lost a lot more ships.
Then I saw something curious while cruising near the station...
Two mechanics are installing new metal shields....
They were planting plates into the hull. "Look here!", he took the plate from the bottom. His friend looked to this not completely cleaned plate. There was still a colored printed word on it: "Nuur, aee, Nurgiwon. What's that? Do you have an idea??" he asked. "I dont know exactly. Wasnt there a high capital ship from the turd Way called like this? A pilot called HardEyes or something like that .... Who cares!?". He took the cleaning laser out of his toolbox, and wiped this name out. "One moment please..." he said, took his phaser and wrote some words into the plate. After cleaning the plate with his arm and installing it, they are gone away for other works leaving this plate alone with some simple words written on it: "MCA rulez!!!"
It was a small testament to our Mwari Colonial Alliance mentality. You could always do bad things to us, but we would not succumb to that.

It is your choice and I truly respect it, but I've written a number of short stories before (and some of them posted to different forums) only to later find out that my work had been shamelessly ripped and used in other place with different credits.
This atleast slows them somewhat.
So did I
Sorry matel. It may be easier to read in paperback matey.
well i liked it :)
its always interesting to see how other factions saw events.

thx, and no offence meant btw... just that really puts me off reading anymore, y'know like "first impressions"?...
It's all complete nonsense, anyway. I don't see my name mentioned once - must be a history of some other Galaxy.

True true, we all know that world revolves around you Boris :)

That's Galaxy, if you don't mind, please, thank you very much!
I'm slightly scared to say something serious on such a silly subject, so I'll slip this in subtly. I was MCA Deputy FC, official or unofficial but always at the heart of operations, for about 400 turns while FCs came & went. Pity I was off-line for a week when our least successful Commander came to power...
None of which is very interesting or relevent. But I may reasonably say that I think Tombe0's story is a dramatised account of one pilot's experiences, rather than being a serious attempt at history. It should be read & appreciated in that light.

Boris it's typical - storys without your name have not been written?
Just thought I'd add this post to make Boris feel a bit better. After all he does deserve alot of credit. Throughout my time in charge of the MCA about 200 turns Boris was one of the bravest most tactically minded pilots I have ever had the pleasure of flying beside in the game. He was always there to issue orders when I wasn't around and he always made his plans and intentions known!!! He is one of the best pilots in the game and should be commended. Thanx for all your help in Game 3 Boris and I look forward to hopefully flying beside u in game 4. See all you guys then!!

Good to see that you're still around Romeo... got over your troubles?
I cut you and the MCA some slack after you told me... I had planned to launch a strike, but I wouldn't do that to someone with RL problems like you did...
SO... it was Boris I was pitting my wits against, was it? I hope we're on the same side next round Boris, I'd be interested in chatting - I don't think I've ever been on the same side as you so far... it would be interesting (people have my permission I said that when I'm about ready to kill him after the event, BTW...) :p
The Leauge History t-1 to the point were the Hq was blow up
"sir we have detected a incoming enemy fleet"
"Ready to fire on my mar......
BOOM
The end
:dark:
Yeah Im still here BFalcon I figured it was you who was the FC. Yeah everythings sorted and my shifts are beginning to settle down a little. Thanx for asking. Hopefully I'll see u game four. Perhaps maybe in the same faction. Who knows maybe things woulda been different if RL things had gone a little better. But congrats on game 3 u guys played a great game. Thanx
OK, that's it... I'm definitely not standing as FC this time... :)
I'm getting too well known - the TW FC (1st one after BigBen) had me pegged, even though I tried to dissuade him that it was me... that was why I stepped down.
It was a pity... I had a beauty of a taunt prepared, too... ;)
I'm here and waiting for the logins to start... I'm dying (hopefully not literally) to see which faction I'm in... :D
I'd like to be first in sometime, too... :)
