View Full Version : Nine Days To Wfc Final
And the questions are:
Who will get it this time?
Who will be the biggest surprise team?
Who will be the biggest disappointment?
Which teams will make us happy?
My bet on Number One spot:
Argentina
Croatia
Italy
Biggest surprise team:
Ecuador
Denmark (going to top 4)
Japan (but that is not a surprise anymore)
Biggest disappointment:
England (will get out in round one)
Germany (will get out in round two)
Poland (will loose eveything)
Happy - so attractive football:
Nigeria
Brazil
Denmark

They spend 90 mins kicking a ball around. sounds like a good time to catch up on some sleep :bored:

Admittedly, the Italian League isn't too attractive, but through watching a couple of their international games, they can play some really attractive football...

Hello? Where were you in the early 90s?
Today, they play more technical football, but they used to be able to match Brazil for flare. Speaking of Brazil, it's a shame they are not looking in tip-top form. AFAIK, Ronaldo is back to full fitness, and they've got Rivaldo... the list goes on. Should be fun to watch.
I reckon it's going to be France vs Argentina in the final. I sure hope the French win, too. Just something I've got against Argentina, you know...
Cameroon should do well. But as I'm expecting them to do fairly well, do they still count for me as a surprise team?
Japan have home advantage, and that often works in a team's favour, but I still think they will show their mediocrity. Taking a cynical stand, Inamoto couldn't make the Arsenal first team this season, and he is (was?) considered one of Japan's brightest stars.
It looks like Spain will disappoint again. :(
Germany have had such a downturn since the late 90s when most of their 1990 World Cup winning team retired - Lothar Matthaus was better than the pundits gave him credit for. Klinsmann had talent, too. Since then, they've lacked the passion and apparently the skill of the Euro 96 team. I never thought Mehmet Scholl really deserved the hype, for a start.
Italy should make the knockout stages, but it's hard to say at the moment.
From where I sit, it looks like all the other teams will be also-rans.
Apart from England, who stand a fair chance of getting at lest to the quarters, especially if Beckham reaches full fitness. We could really have used Steven Gerrard (just look at how effective he was in the 5-1 win over Germany in Munich *cough*), and Murphy is quite a talent, too.
