Hello all,

I'm looking for any links on the UK Infogrames site that will give me a list of any job oportunities Infogrames may have but unfortunatley, I've found nothing.

Is there a place within Infogrames network of sites that I can find a list of UK job oportunities?

I tried www.infogrames.com but this only displayed a list of US jobs.

Thanks in advance.

Basil

Your best bet is to send a copy of your cv directly to the London office, I think :)

I'll give that a shot.

Do you have any idea whether there's a human resources department in the Manchester (Castlefield) office?

Hey all,
Im actually lookin to work within the industry myself, as a musician. Altho I was wonderin if Infogrames UK gets their music from a library of avaliable music or from an in-house musician?

I'd like to work as an in-house musician for a games company when I finish a Foundation Degree in Music Technology and Audio Engineering in 2004/5, however I am looking for work experience for in the next few months or for next year.

I am currently working on music for Resident Evil - The Escape (http://www.re-te.com) and more info about me can be found here (http://www.rhythm-attic.tk)

I was just hopin sum1 could plz tell me more about the role and how to go about gaining a full time job as a composer for computer games.

Thx 4 takin the time to read this, and hopefully responding :D

PS....No offence intended, but would some1 recruiting for Sony and other major developers really NEED to advertise here?

Rhythm-Attic,

I might be talking out of my socks (I do pr for musicians but mainly for film productions) but as far as I am aware no game developers or publishers employ in-house musicians, just free-lancers (much cheaper). Unfortunately, that's the problem with commercial musicians. As I said, I may be totally wrong, I just never came across with anything like that. Contact me privately for further discussion

I believe the game 'Silver' (developed by Spiral House and published by Infogrames) used an external composer as Tenebra mentioned...

The problem with keeping a musician in-house is most of the time they don't do anything unless they have alternative skills... eg sound effects, graphics, programming etc. The only possible places where you might find a in-house musician would be like in large corporations where a composer may simultaneously work on several projects (though that's extremely rare)...

I don't suppose there's any Info about getting a job with InfogramesAU (the Australian branch)? ;)

Hi, I live in Sheffield, I heard a rumor that Infrogames have an office in Sheffield. I was wandering if this is true and if they have any vacancies at entry level for graduates?

I've got a strong feeling that Infogrames wouldnt lower themselves to employing someone who feels the need to post ALL IN CAPS in short, pointless sentences. If any Infogrames bods DO happen to glance their beady corporate eyes on these pages, I doubt ALL CAPS will impress them.

You telling me that Sheffield doesnt have a Yellow Pages? The internet is not the be all and end all for finding information. Use your own initiative. If you havent got any, then you'll be hard put getting a job in any place that requires you to excercise your own judgement.

The above suggestion comes from an IT guy, who knowingly belongs to the category of people you call for a technical problem and they will turn up, looking seriously concerned, start banging on your hardware, switch your pc off, unplug it, turn it on again and finally claim they have sorted it out for you :lolblue: *2pots, you know I like you anyway

As a general tip: we mostly use specific agencies that work within the games industry, so rather than bombard various Human Resources departments, I would suggest you check out companies such as Aardvark and Answers. You can also find lots of agencies like these in the back pages of EDGE Magazine each month.

How about if you wish to be a designer though? I've never seen those jobs in the back of edge, where you make up the stories and characters, world, levels, etc.

I believe I saw a RareWare advertisment on that once, and there's an advert for Rockstar as well(although they didn't specify which position needed filling).

Management frown upon the banging of hardware, so generally I refrain unless seriously pushed.

They havent said anything about swearing at the hardware though, so I most often do that instead.

The rest is just about right.

my comments about the use of agencies was more to do with employment with publishers. What you're talking about (story wriiting, etc) is more the domain of developers, but many do still go through agencies or adverts in the publications I mentioned before. In the case of developers, direct application to HR staff is much advised, but be aware that the larger the developer, the less likely they are to deal with HR internally. Good luck
