Why has a multiplayer online game got no servers or Gamespy room. have I just thrown away £30 on this game?

Thank god I'm not the only one having this problem in the UK! It's a fault in the game. It looks like all the copies of T3:WotM have been shipped with a major bug in it, claiming that there is an error with the CD key, meaning you can't join or create a server. Only about 3 other people have posted about it (on the US forums) and Atari have yet to actually respond with a proper answer. So far the only "help" I've found was them saying that if you couldn't play online and you use a router, you must change the settings of some ports. I've refused to do this though as all my other games work fine, so why change some settings for one game? I'm just hoping they bring a patch out before Friday, otherwise I'm returning the game and getting my money back.

Nope your not the only one having problems.

Lets see DVD released this week, was the game rushed out so that it was on sale at the same time to cash in ?, or am i being synical.

The game doesn't seem to be avaiable everywhere as well, my friend in Walsall cant find it anywhere. I was wondering if maybe only a few shipments got out before they realised there was a major bug in the game.

Thoughts on the game...

SP is boring shoot, kill, shoot kill some more....end.

MP when working this looks like it could be quite good.

The AI needs some work though, has anyone else noticed that none of the bots use the vehicles.

I noticed that. In fact, I got into the buggy, and 3-4 guys came over, and then just stood next to the buggy as if to say "WOW! He's in the buggy! THAT'S AMAZING!" and then they ran off as soon as I got out. Now, I like to see a bot that can appreciate a player and his ability to get into vechiles :D but that might have been taking the p**s just a little bit.

I too am looking forward to the multiplayer. I've played a local server game by myself with bots, and it looks quite promising, but i'll be a hell of a lot better with real players on the server, as it won't be like a Doom clone with the endless waves of mindless enemies.

I get the same cd key error every time i go online. what is going on!!! i feel cheated out of my hard earned £30, and i am seriously considering taking it back if nothing is done about this soon. I dont use a router or anything , jus me my computer n my modem, and there are no servers to join, and i cant create one. lets face it, without the online multiplayer theres as much chance of somebody actually enjoying the single player mode as there is of osama bin laden converting to christianity. it sucks!. cheap and nasty battlefield 1942 rip-off i hear someone cry, with a giant step BACKWARD taken in AI. whats the deal with vehicles!!! do the bots not have driving permits yet or something? god if those soldiers are the future saviours of humanity we are all pretty much doomed aren't we. not exactly the brainiest chaps ive ever seen.they pretty much forget military training in favour of the ' keep running straight forward without a squad to back you up and keep firing randomly ,' tactics. but seriously, the lack of vehicle usage by the bots is a serious problem . did some1 at atari in the testing department jus kindof forget about them. maybe they are jus meant to be set props for the soldiers to lean up against when they feel tired, or maybe they could use them as large gasoline powered paper weights, or even use them as a flat surface for making sandwiches on. anything but actually DRIVE them. no no, that would be far to clever. the enemy would expect that. ahhh very clever, it must be some kind of advanced military tactic to act as dumb as possible so the enemy terminators cpu powered brains jus cant comprehend the absolute stupidity of the few remaining humans on earth and simply overload themselves trying to work out what has gone on. it all makes sense now doesn't it. yeh, i wouldnt mind having a chat to that chief tester at atari, jus so i could shake his hand on doing such a wonderful job. the genius..... oh..... atari do have testers......... dont they?........... hmmmm. they all knew there was something they'd forgotten to do. damn! maybe a patch would be a nice little xmas present from atari to all their loyal consumers out there. and maybe ill send them a little email, just to say thanks of course. haha, i was going to say some things about the structure of the single player game too, about the pick any map from the list ,n forget about any hope of an actual storyline between maps apart from a few lines of text on the loadup screen written by a fairly legible, advanced for his age, four year old child. hmmm, maybe i am being slightly harsh, for i am from an age of gaming, ( call me old fashioned) when the last level was the last, and the first was the first, and each level unlocked the next. there was this thing we learnt in school.... ah yes, numeracy .....where u count from 1 to 10 in an order not 1, 25, 3, 2, 6. hmmm anyway, i have things to do, people to see, military tactics to thwart. at least i can sleep easy tonight n rest my worries that atari will take over the world with an advanced hyper intelligent sentient machine race known as the Atarinators. maybe a semi retarded machine race known as the 'too big for their boots escaped military can openers', but if that happens worry not, for an army of SONYs little dog robots will surely be our rescue and save mankind, with their advanced 'fetch the ball' skills. phew, all this talking has made me thirsty, im off to get a drink. hmmm if only i had a spare coaster to put it on.......... wow.... maybe the terminator cd isnt completely useless after all.

lol.

Actually, I had the good fortune to witness a bot use a turret the other day. I have to admit, it was a nice change from the assclown moves they normally do. I'm just hopeing that with the game finally being released in the US today, they'll all have the same problem and complain to Atari as well, and finally do something about it. What's annoyed me is that I've posted loads of stuff on the US forum, and even emailed tech support, and no-one has had any responce.

I thought it was just me. I started pratting around with my firewall. Turned it off etc... and all to no avail. I'm perplexed as to how Atari could launch a multiplayer video game (even thought there is a single player campaign, if you could call it that (boring !!!)) without ensuring that the online multiplayer would work.

Atari can you please sort this out quickly. I bought my copy from Game who have a 10 day exchange policy and I WILL BE TAKING IT BACK if you don't sort this out very very soon.

Btw, in case any of you want to discuss (or moan :D) about T3:WotM a bit more, I've set up a chat room in IRC.

Feel free to join and talk/idle/dance or whatever.

I dont like all the bad reviews about T3-War of the machines!!
But yet its so true!
Clevers have really messed up on this one!
anyways, there is a person called magnet mannen on the US forums who is willing to have a go at modding the game and bringing in allsorts of new things, so if ya wanna help or suggest new ideas goto the US forums and the general game chat and under T3... iam modding it.. or something.
P.S is there anyone out there who is actually satified with the game?

Well I've noticed that there is no Terminator 3 room on Gamespy. Thats probably why multiplayer is not working. Hopefully by tommorow they will put a room up and the in game browser will start working.

Strange but true. I managed to set up a game last night. I read somewhere, I can't remember where though, that there were no games because the US launch of the game was after the european launch. The game servers that host the CD verification are US servers and guess what, they probably weren't going online til those jammie americans get there mits on T3.

Anywhere where were you guys. I created an internet game last night and no one joined in. I will try again UK chaps at 7.30. My in game name will be MrDisappointed unless you chaps join in.

Unless noone joined because they can't see my game for some bizarre reason. 3 days to go before Returnination. I'll be back. Returnalagamea Baby.:biggringr

:p:

I'll call the game MrDisappointed just so you know. Just in case there
is a major server list tonight (unlikely). Is your ingame characters name going to be the same as your nick?

Hopefully I'll catch you online later. Is anyone else going to join in???? Up to 32 players can play so lets get Terminating.

Has anyone else noticed that according to Atari GMT is about 12 hours out on here??? I should be in bed in that case. I do mean 7.30pm UK as in GMT and not in the am. Weird huh!!!

Sh*t, Poo and Pants.

2 days to go. It was my firewall. There is a game online now but no one is in it because of "CD Error". I can now not create one because of "CD Error".

Atari, you have 2 days left.

Sorry Mal.

Damn it. Well, I still think we should all try and get on at 7:30pm. I dunno why, I just got a hunch :) I'll be trying for a little while. If I manage to get a server going, it'll be named "UK_T3_SERVER"

Update folks, i'm on a server as I type this! in fact, i created one! I think it may finally be working!!

Johnny Jackal

Finally we can play online, well all 9 of us in UK and Germany that have bought it anyway.

However I now know why the humans win the war, Skynet was laggy. For a multiplayer only game this is appalling net code.

I finally played this game last night properly with I guess some German peeps, I think they were German anyway as Richti was one character on there. I get the feeling though that the servers may have been up for testing or something cos it was weird the way peeps kept jumping in out and of games. When you guys got into my game last night you were reporting a laggy experience and then all of a sudden you all left the game.

Because I actually played a game and it all seemed to work ok eventually I don't understand why we all seemed to be having so much difficulty getting a game or staying in it to begin with. Its like were all on some Beta programme.

Wednesday and Thursday night is Beta testing time then. If by Friday the experience isn't any better I don't think I want to wait for things to settle down.

If you guys play any of these let me know and we'll have a get together on a less problematic experience:

Ravenshield
Battle Field 1942
Tron 2.0
Call of Duty
Hidden and Dangerous 2
Unreal Tournament 2003 (can't wait for 2004)

Have a good day chaps...To be continued...

Just to let you know. Atari have now responded to my support question and have said that the servers are now online and we should not have any difficulties playing online. :lightbulb
