Hi,
I'm unable to start the demo. Does anyone have got WinXP SP2 installed? I thinks thats the reason why it doesn't work :-(

I got XPSP2 installed, works fine. whats your PC specs? What version of Direct X have you got (latest is 9c Start>Run>dxdiag to find out).

killerzwelch

AMD Athlon 1,1 Ghz
Gforce-Ti 4200
512 MB DDR

I've got the latest Direct-X version 9.0c
I also have the latest driver for my graphiccart.

"The exception 'uknown software exception' (0xc000001d) of the executable appeared at the position 0x0095622e"
Click 'OK' to quit the program.
Click 'Cancel' to debug the program.
"

I got the message because i have installed MS Visual Studio.Net but I tried the demo at an other PC. The PC just loads for a very short moment but nothing happens.

I also have exactly the same problem (same offset). I have an AMD Ahtlon 800 MHz, Geforce 2 MX videocard, 512 MB SDRAM, latest directx and videodrivers. I'm running on XP.

This is the output:
AppName: rct3.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: rct3.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0055622e

This sucks  I was really looking forward trying this game out.

I am having the same trouble and so is a lot of people, i am guessing at least half of the people that have tried this demo agree that it is not working with their PC. This people specs are ranging from just about reaching the min specs to smashing recommended specs and taking them to school. I am on of them with specs that out do the recommended and I cant get any further than highly impressive main menu. This is not a good look for atari and for the potential sales that atari could loss because of this failure.

These are my specs and PC informations:

Age: 2months
Manufacturer: Packard Bell NEC
OS: Window XP Home Edition - SP2*
Proccessor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.07GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 512MB
Page File: 1gb
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c
Grapics: ATI RADEON 9200 SE AGP 128mb (With latest Driver)**

*I have uninstalled SP2 and had no difference it still crashed and restarted my computer so my conclusion is that SP2 is not the cause at all. Their is no Adware or Spyware or Viruses on my PC as I scan every day.

**I downloaded and installed the latest driver and this had no effect.

ATARI YOU SHOULD READ AND TAKE NOT OF THIS

I also cannot start the demo although I get the following message instantly:

IDirect3D::CreateDevice Failed

I am running the RCT3_DEMO_v010.exe file downloaded from the www.atari.com/rollercoastertycoon/europe/uk/ website

My PC is:

Fujitsu - Siemens
Celeron 1300Mhz
Windows XP SP2
Directx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Intel(R) 82810E Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation)
Device ID: 0x7125

again I have checked that all the drivers are the latest

I am interested in buying the game when it is released, but am now hesitant as it seams as though it will not work on my PC!

Hi

I havnt played the demo but a search shows LOTS of people with problems running it.

The answer for one person was...

I'm afraid it means your graphics card is below the minimum spec. and can't play the demo. Sorry. Apologies for the ugliness of this message. We did (until recently) have a check for the minimum-spec machine, and refused to run - but we removed this when we found some machines that were OK even though they were technically below it.

Theres a LOT of people with 9200 SE' s reporting faults.....sorry I cant be of any help there but Ill keep looking...:lightbulb

And Im sorry to say To Bet No One that your computers onboard graphics fall below the spec needed to run the demo......sorry:frownblue

Recommended System Requirements:
Operating System: Windows® 98/98SE/Me/2000/XP (Windows® XP recommended)
Processor: Pentium® III 733 MHz or compatible (Pentium® 4 1.2 GHz or compatible recommended)

Hard Disk Space: 600 MB free
CD-ROM Drive: 4X CD-ROM or faster (8X or faster recommended)
Video: Any ATI Radeon™ or GeForce™ 2 with 32MB or higher; or other video card with 32MB and hardware T&L (ATI Radeon™ 64 MB SDR or GeForce™ 2 Pro or other video card with 64 MB or more memory and hardware T&L recommended)*

If their is a problem with ATI RADEON 9200 SE's then why is ATARI advertising that ATI is perfect for play RCT3

And Im sorry to say To Bet No One that your computers onboard graphics fall below the spec needed to run the demo......sorry
Again no it doesn't

Video: Any ATI Radeon™ or GeForce™ 2 with 32MB or higher; or other video card with 32MB and hardware T&L (ATI Radeon™ 64 MB SDR or GeForce™ 2 Pro or other video card with 64 MB or more memory and hardware T&L recommended)
I'm sorry does that say "ANY ATI RADEON" up their with "32MB OR HIGHER" humm I think I meet that. Hey u said the 9200 dont work but that is in the catagory of "ANY ATI RADEON"

Strange - I changed my HDD so that I had WinME. IT DOESN'T WORK EITHER!!!
I can't imagine that a Gforce4 Ti-4200 is too bad for the game.
Why does it NOT work?!?
I hope the final version works...

My machine runs the Rome Total War demo at it's highest settings. That game is far more demanding on the PC than this game is.

AMD Athlon XP3000+ Processor
Seagate 320gb 7200rpm Hard disk storage
Micron 1024MB PC2700 DDR RAM
ATI 256MB DDR Radeon 9200 with latest Direct X ( yes this card does exists )
KT400 Motherboard
Windows XP Home edition with Service pack 2 installed.

If this PC can't run it, Then their is no hope for the game. Thing is, It does not run it

Topleya, shut the hell up you whining pansy. While you're at it, work on hitting puberty, then come back when you're mature enough to realise that the world doesnt revolve around you.

'Video: Any ATI Radeon™ or GeForce™ 2 with 32MB'

Again, I have a GeForce 2 MX 32 MB Videocard. If it is stated in the specs, then it must have been tested at some point. So it can't be that in my case. I'll keep an eye on this thread, hopefully a solution will be brought out soon.

(Edit > Just noticed the sticky thread.)

Wow - somebody got Fluxx riled! He's a really low temperature dude!:coolred:

As far as I can tell, the demo only came out yesterday - another couple of days, and somebody somewhere will spot the snarl up and post a solution

yo Fluxx, I wasnt aiming that at you either, soryy if it sounded that way dude, i am just trying to make the point that I meet the specs and still this demo will not work.

Cool it kids - no scratching, hissing or pulling hair. 2pot, please refrain from responding to above member - the effort would be entirely wasted I fear:coolred:

You know whats weird? I just installed the demo on 2 wildly under-spec PCs, and neither of them will run the demo obviously BUT - I got the exact same error code as everyone else! This was using on board graphics of 8 and 16MB.Just thought I'd mention that...

There, here's your coat.
