RCT3 Retail: Securom Problem

"Please insert the original disc instead of a copy" error everytime I try to load the game.

Other errors include "disc cannot be authenticated". It's an original disc, installation was fine. Latest version of Daemon Tools will not play a disc image either when I make an ISO or IMG file.

Problem looks similar to the UT2003 errors that people were getting (and a subsequent patch was released to play that game without the CD).

Feel let down by this Securom problem, hope to see a patch soon as I can't play the game.

When I run the game with the CD it goes black for a few seconds and just crashes to desktop with"This program experienced a problem and needs to close" and sends a Windows XP report off. Happens with my Samsung DVD drive and my Plexter CD writer. :(

I'm getting this problem too, I've been playing absolutely fine for a full day, I exit the game and try to go back into it and now I keep getting the error "Please insert the original disk instead of a backup"

I have the UK retail version and I don't understand why I'm getting this error.

Any ideas?

OK, so I went out and bought a CDROM drive (I was using a DVD drive to play the game). Put the CDROM into an external USB box, put in the game, and it works fine.

This, however, should not be the solution :(

Possible faulty discs, faulty batch. I bought mine (UK) on 5th November and it installed and ran straight away without a hitch...

However, there is the matter of the sound problem I am having. (See my separate post)

Could RCT3 be the buggiest game ever?

disavle any antivirus software and that should sort it easily :)

Just uninstalled game because of this 'insert rct3 cd' error, so about to install again and turn off antivirus! Will edit this post once tested (am using Norton Antivirus and Norton Personal Firewall)

EDIT: Still couldn't get it to work. I can play just RCT 3 with the update 2 patch but as soon as I install Soaked, no more RCT for me :noooo:

Hi all, I had this message after installing Soaked. I have the Scholastic version (has P/n CDR9797810 PRINTED ON THE DISK). There is a patch for this version: http://www.atari.com/us/support/newfaq/rollercoastertycoon3scholastic.php?browser=1&osType=WINXP&pageDisplay=DOWNLOADS
Was e-mailed to me by Scholastic technical support.

Well mine was in the Atari Deluxe pack and other comunications with SecuRom and Atari, discovered the deluxe cd's weren't SecuRom protected while the expansion pack is. So when I installed Soaked, it was looking for an original SecuRom protected RCT 3 that didn't exist :mefiant:

I sent my CD off and got a replacement, not before copying it successfully though tonguegre That'll teach them!
