View Full Version : Hanging Probs
Hi Everytime I Play RCT 3 It Hangs When Am About 5 Min Into A Game.
The Hole Computer Crashes And Locks Up.
Spec :-
Intel Pentium 4 "Prescott" 3.2GHz (800FSB) with HT Technology
DFI LanParty Pro875 "Canterwood"
Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256 Using DVI
3x 40 Gb WD
WinXp Pro ServicePak 1
Any Advice On This Would Be Greatful. Thanxs :(
PS It Went Straight To High Level Setting Could It Be That.????
Is it the full retail or the demo?
When it crashes do you get an error message?
Full Retail
And When It Goes It Just Hangs No Error No Window With An Exception Or Anything. Carn't Move the Mouse Or Do Control Alt Delete. Nothing Works. It Seems To Happen The Most When Using The Landscape Tool. Dont Know If This Helps.
Please Help Really Want To Play This Game It Rocks !!!!!!!
Im playing it on 'High' and I havnt had any problems (i know thats not what you want to hear....:frownblue )
You could try lowering the settings and if 'Bloom' is on, turn it off.
Could be your card overheating......
Thanks Fluxx For Time And Patients Mate Maybe My Card Is Overheating
Or Maybe My CPU
Current Temp Is
53.5 c } The CPU Temp
28.9 c } System Temp
Any Ideas How To Cool It More I Have 2 Back Fans "One In One Out" and Room Fan "You Know The Ones You Get To Cool Your Hole Room " Directly On The CPU Aswell As Its Own Cooler.
Sorry To Be Pain Its Just I Carn't Seem To Drop The Temp Past 50.0 c
The best idea I can think of is to turn all the graphics options in RCT3 down to their lowest and see how long it will play before it locks up (if it does).
So try this, from the RCT3 FAQ
- 800 x 600 resolution
- Un-check the ‘Reflective Water’ box.
- Set anti-aliasing to ‘none’
- Un-check the ‘bloom’ box
- Un-check the ‘Shadows’ box
- Check the ‘Simple Landscape Textures’ box
With all the effects on RCT3 is a very greedy game and is very CPU intensive.
Also make sure both your fans are clean and free of dust as this wont help your temps....:frownblue
I dont think your CPU is running too hot, but Im no expert. You may (or may not  ) just need another fan to blow the air around.......:bounce:
Edit: I assume you are using the Catalyst 4.10 drivers.....

I think 50+degrees is a lot for a P4, but it is 3.2Ghz, and under a big load. I would double check the basics -have you put the fans on correctly? You would be surprised how many PCs I've come across with coolers that blow air in instead of dragging it out:rolleyesa
Does your graphics card have plenty of space? Is there a card in the slot right next to it? Move it, and see if that makes a difference. There is definitely a heat issue somewhere - only a heat issue or damaged RAM would lock your machine like that (as a a general rule, those would be the first 2 culprits to investigate)
Thanks People I'll Try All Of Your Suggestions.
Let You Know How I Get On. I Hope Its Heat Related In A Way Because The Memory Is Brand New. So If ITs That There Will Be Some Nasty Letters Going Out. :madred:
Thanks Again For Your Time :)

I Feel Such An Idot.
I Took The Advice Of Warspite "Cheers Mate" And Turned My CPU Heat Sink & Fan Round And It Seem To Fit On The Chip Better. Anyway Went And Booted It Up And Am Now Getting
Temps :-
CPU 32.0 C
System 18.5 C
Thanks Guys For Your Info Wont Make That Mistake Again.
Happy Days Of RCT3

You crazy kids:rolleyes:
See if you can get some kind of hardware monitor loaded now to keep an eye on your mobo and stuff. If it HAS been running with incorrect cooling, you may have damaged your CPU - so keep an eye on it. 50 degrees is not SOO bad though, so you may have got away with it:tup:
With any luck your CPU's going to be ok.......
Like Warspite says 50c is too bad......:biggringr
