View Full Version : Things I love about RCT3!
as an antedote to all the earlier complaints I want to start a thread about the good bits of the game. I have to say the more I play it the more I am enjoying it! In particular I love:
Family groups - particularly arguing families with little kids
Night time views of the park
Multiple options for shops and food stalls
Sandbox mode - at last a real chance to go mad
Terrain tools
Background, skies and shadows
peep editor
and of course - riding the coasters!
I must admit I kind of miss the cute little people all looking the same wandering about like little lego men but I think the new game is an improvement!
My only one big gripe at the moment is my antisocial peeps leaving litter everywhere even though there is a bin right next to them! Perhaps the option to serve an ASBO could be added to the next patch?!

Agree it is time we saw some more positive posts -
In my experience if you polite to people and treat them with respect, they are often more willing to try to help. Whereas if all you do is shout and scream they tend to put the barriers up and may still help albeit grudgingly.
Things I like:
New peep thoughts & actions even Bush Clinton (or whatever his name was) made me laugh. I also liked the original little peeps, but these ones are dangerously addictive to watch.
I agree on shop options - just wish you could save it and use across whole park. (same with prices).
I just love the whole look and feel of the game - the new interface is taking a little getting used to, but the game just looks and feels great.
I have seen JPOG and ZT2 and this knocks the socks off both.
Okay so some people have to rack the options back a bit, but it's always been like this - one of the bonuses of finaly getting a new PC was to load up some of your slightly older games and ramp it all to the max to see just how good it could look.
I like the graphics of some of the new thrill rides - and the reactions of peeps on them and the coasters to things like event items.
Staff area mapping - now you can mark it out to the square without stupid overlaps - I see the new patch will bring back the other staff areas - which will be great.
Fireworks - Now I can play with the big boys toys :coolred: - although we need a way to see the music track wave in the timeline - the interface looks to me very much like the Flash interface which does have this option.
Also want a cam point that allows you to see the ground fireworks too better - Saw a post somewhere requesting stands for firework displays (so you can also charge) think this would be good. I also would've like to have seen a couple of simple displays that you could take apart and work out how it all works - the editor is good, but uite a steep learning curve.
BTW Training Security guards up appears to have some effect on littering (would still like to see them grab naughty peeps by the ear and eject them from the park or fine them) I know we don't see peeps vandalise benches - I wish we did (I would drown the little ..........s :) )

... love the fact it doesn't run on my computer and it is costing me to try and run it supposedly!
Thought I would add another find - to add to the lists of things I like about RCT3
Post update there is a cheat (well not really a cheat, but it works the same way) where :- if you rename a guest jonny watts you get a peep cam (in other words you see the park through the eyes of a peep)
I've known about it for some time, but initially I thought it was ok....but..... Especially as peeps rarely go everywhere you want to -
However, today by chance I looked at the peep cam coaster cam controls (you get one similar to the regular coaster cam) and wondered what would happen if I clicked 'next' at first it skipped me to just another peep but then it flipped me to the park inspector (who if course goes everywhere)
Much nicer - in fact pretty darn good - I tried it on the next park and it did the same - tis a great way to view your park - (Framerate seemed quite good too - in fact marginally better than normal view - which kinda confused me - but nevermind)
Now all we need is a peep cam with 'wasd ' controls (fps style) with an 'enter' for pay or whatever and a HUD so you can see your peeps needs & you could really spend a day in your own park
:biggringr :biggringr :biggringr
Actually joking aside, the peep cam is a great way to see parks (although it is a little high - kinda sits about a head over the peeps head) - I sometimes used to like downloading peeps parks for the wow factor and occaisonal insperation - If Frontier developed this further it could be a realy great addition to the game.
Silkius you're right that peep cam rocks but what i'd really wnat is what i think you meant, you can control the peep all around the park and have to spend his money wisely to keep him happy all day, maybe a mini game lol
this is great option! Makes you realise how much time the peeps spend wandering aimlessly - even in a park packed full of rides! Complete peep control would be a great option for the add ons.
found a way to gain a little more control - not exactly FPS (first person shooter) but using the inspector as I said above - if you save/ select his options and remove some of the silly things you don't want him to look at (i.e evaluate staff) you can tour the park quite well
I agree though - being able to actually become a peep and spend a day in your own park would be a great way to extend the life of the games - and would be great for p[ark exchanges as although I like to look over other peeps parks - there is not a lot to do - however with people like frogee trying to do alton towers and other peeps doing great sandbox parks - it would be nice to not just see but visit them too.
If Atari/Frontier latched onto this and worked on it - you could even start things like park rating systems etc., via a new park exchange.
i think there was peep cam in one of the bullfrog theme park games however those games are nowhere as near as good as the RCT series

I agree, theme park is one of the crummiest games i have come across, it just doesn't have the smooth, sleek style of RCT. Theme park looks like it is designed for a four year old.
shame i cant find rct 1 and the expansions anywhere i have the urge to play blackpool pleasure beach again
teehee shame chrisa, but not to worry as long as ya have the game installed somewhere on this wide world internet is a d/l to overcome having to put a disc in lol. :)
And i also do remember the peep cam in theme park world, i remember the amazing **** (hmm 4 letters, 3 choices, i'm letting you decide) graphics lol!
