I now realise I need to buy a graphics card in order for the game to work. I have an integrated ATI Radeon 9000.
I'd rather buy the ATI Radeon 9600SE because it's cheaper, but is it adequate? Should I get a 9600XT instead?
You'll notice an improvement with a 9600SE, but you'll get a better one with a 9600XT........if you can afford it get the XT. SE's are cut down versions........:frownblue
How much difference is there in price?

I'm looking at Special Reserve and they have the SE for £62 and the XT for £130, double the price. It's a bit steep, but I'll try to get the XT as an Xmas present. It had better be worth it. :sour:
Special Reserve.........Bah,Humbug.......:madred:

Don't touch the SE with a 20-foot pole, even though the price is attractive. Is is s-l-o-w.
Go for the 9600XT, or if you can, try for a 9800 pro (ebay often has second hand ones dirt cheap).
Also, if you are upgrading from integrated graphics, make sure you have an AGP slot in your motherboard, as some boards with integrated graphics lack this.
I want to buy this graphic card - ASUS V9999GT GF 6800. What will be number of FPS on 1280x960x32, all high/on, AAx4 ANIZOx8 or something like that? My PC will be: AMD Athlon 2600+ Barton, ABIT NF-7, 512DDR 400mhz and ASUS V9999GT GF 6800

Your FPS will all depend on how much detail you have and how many people/rides you have.
It should be pretty good though.
Places to look at cards:

and ebay,
these are the best online shops. (my opinion)
if you can afford a 9800pro, dont get one! get a 6600GT instead!(make sure its AGP though)
SE versions of cards are ones where the core had a fault, so half of it is disabled, STEER CLEAR!
the best 6800 on the web at the mo is the one off http://www.lowestonweb.com/ if you want one, get it here.

I'm no expert but have you considered nVidia graphics cards? I have a nVidia 256MB Geforce FX5200 and thats brilliant.
the 6600GT is nVidia, if you can afford it its your best bet, as it will last for years to come.
other wise get a 9600XT (2nd choise), or a 5200. it all depends on your budget really, the 5200 is the lowest card i'd buy at the moment, its probably the lowest end card that will actualy run the game nicely.

The 5200 is a bit too far down the scale. It's generally for people who don't play games, and just need the bare minimum for getting by.
If you have to get a budget nvidia card, go for at least a 5700.
a note on nVidia graphics cards, NEVER EVER go for an LE version, its the same as an ATi SE version.
