My mate up the road has RCT3, as do I. However, he's come across a mysterious problem that I have not, he is unable to unlock new levels. He has completed several of the early levels up to Tycoon, but no new levels have been unlocked. He tried phoning technical support but apparantly they are closed for the holiday season, so I'll ask here, any ideas what it could be?

Any ideas? Anyone? He's completed all the basic levels now and has nothing to do. (Well he does, he should be doing exam revision, but we'll not talk about that :P)
I honestly can't think as to why this would happen - nr have I seen it mentioned here ior on US forum)
So unless you weren't loading your career profile - (i.e. completley starting a new game - never saving etc.,) I can't see why it wouldn't unlock new scenarios ???
When you start the game, & go to career mode, you choose what profile you want to use (especially if like me you have a few) which show how much of the game you have completed (i.e. Siliius = 20% with the three hats and how many of each you have done i.e. 4xApp, 4xEnt 4xTyc)
Also when you load that profile, you should be able to continue any park from your last saved position (I normally save for each level i.e. vh_l1, vh_l2 vh_l3, vh_done_y4 etc., plus an x and y for eXperiments and Years - force of habit from RC1 bug days)
Can you go round and start a new profile - play an easy scenario (i.e. something that takes minutes to achieve level 1) and then exit to menu and note if a new pic shows up (still shows a padlock but opened (i.e. origianlly you can only pick 6) but each new level 1 completed opens a new scenario - you only need apprentice to unlock levels (tycoon only unlocks coaster designs)
The only long-shot problem I could possibly imagine is if somehow they are playing it on an xp -pro machine under say a guest profile/windows login where whoever owns the PC has not given them the admin rights to save/change files - and it isn't writing the changes to their profile file. If this was the case they would also be unable to save games etc., (or even install them themselves) .
other than tat I would be at a loss and suggest they conact Frontier. (follow the link to the FAQ above and use the link in that for the e-mail addy)

Cheers, that helped! There's some program that is on their computer which restricts his access (not the default Windows XP admin/limited accounts) that was interfering with the game somehow. I told him to get it turned off, and voila, it worked.
Cheers!
