Ok, so i do not own the game yet, i have been addicted to The Sims 2 so therefore, no other games have been played. Sadly, i have begun to grow bored of The Sims 2 and my memories of Roller Coaster 1 and 2 have brought me here. I remember how i enjoyed the games (even with the bad graphics) and i was tempted into buying the new Roller Coaster 3 game when i get paid on Thursday 23rd as a christmas present from me to me. ;) The major question....... is it any good? What is new with it? I know the weather is new, the nighttime is new, but rides, most importantly, are they just old rides made into 3d? I would be very grateful for your experiences with the game and the best things about it, because i am not sure i want to part with my money for a game that i will get bored of within weeks.
Thank you!
;)
IF you have a good internet connection - download the demo (I think the US one was improved i,e, via http://www.atari.com/rollercoastertycoon/us/index.php)
And/Or the UK website does show the game quite well
If not scan the latest computer mags and see if they have it on the cover disk (pre broadband days - I did this for nearly every game I bought - especially good for spotting how tough it was to get a game to run -)
Overall the game plays pretty much as pevious versions albeit with some diferences on management - and of course the fact it runs in 3d) and falls into three camps - love it, hate it, can't get it to run because PC is not up to scratch - unlike RCT1&2 it is pretty demanding on the specs.
I like the game and think it is a vast improvement on the old game (even if most of the rides are the same - how they are done makes the whole thing more enjoyable) I can't comment on comparisons to Sims 1 or 2 - as I cannot understand the facination with that game. (i..e I was bored with the demo - never mind the game)
Basically it is as challanging or as open ended as you want (and/or your system can stand) some people race through scenarios to get them done ASAP - others take their time and continue to build up the parks welll past scenario objectives.
I like 3d vewrsions of all the rides - I like the extra micromanagement - I like the new peeps and grooups - _ I am not quite happy with the scenario and building editor, but hopefully they will improve with new updates. And I will like the improved firework editor (update 2) if/when I get the time to play with it.
Like any game it is what you make of it.

Oh right, I suppose like the Sims, you love it or hate it. One thing though, does it still have scenario manager, so i can make myself have lots of money so i can build super parks or has this feature gone. Also, i am guessing as the sims is a pretty space consuming game (i actually had to buy a whole new computer to run it  ) that it will be a case of one or the other. Does RCT3 require alot of space. I have a good computer now, but i no more and more games are getting alot more demanding. Quite sad really, that games are getting so big they are requring top of the range stuff to run them. Anyway, thanks for your help. Is there somewhere on here that tell you the specification for this game??

WHAT! I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY YOUR ASKING IF RCT3 IS BETTER THAN THE SIMS. THE SIMS MUST HAVE BEEN MADE BY A MAD PERSON. WHAT WITH THE GRAVEYARDS ECT. THEY SAY ITS LIFE-LIKE. LIFE-LIKE MY A*S. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PERSON WHO LIVES A LIFE LIKE A PERSON ON THE SIMS DOES? RCT3 IS MUCH BETTER (WELL DUH IT WAS CREATED IN CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND. ) YOU WILL SOON GET BORED WITH SIMS. ITS ONLY FOR LITTLE GIRLS WHO WANT THIER SIMS TO GO ON DATES. SO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, BUY RCT3.
ps sorry about the caps, just want to make my view be heard :)
b.t.w. I don't think RCT3 takes much space (i was expecting it to be on DVD looking at the ads but it wasn't) the space it takes on your hard drive is around 700MB

1: moreso there is now a sandbox mode (unlimited money etc.,) or scenario editor so you can make your own scenarios.

not hard to find .... honest.:rolleyesa
As I have said many times, and probably wil untill PC's are no more - there is nothing new about the latest games demanding the latest machine - it has always been that way and always will - the games industry has always led the field in PC and website tech and lept on every new gfx or sound fx devlopment to push our experiences further.
If you want forward thinking, inovative and groundbreaking you pay the price - if your happy with stagnation and the same game in a diferent coat - buy a console (not you personally, I mean anyone who will only be happy when games are plug and play) A pc is a working machine that you might just be able to also play games on - but when it comes down to it - it is still a workbench.
However saying that - I have never understood the need to design cd/dvd drives that can hold upto 1-gb of info & run at such high speeds and create data transfer types that can do similar and then use that to copy gigs of info to your hard disk - or failing that the inability for someone to design a way to install the game and then not need the cd to play it (surely if we can come up with startling new ways to do everything else - they could manage this small task) or if you must have two copies to play a co-op game at home - why you can't buy a cut down licence version that will only work in a network. (he says flying off into one on the price of 2x games like NWN)
Mind you - I have also never understood why someone can't design a PC that uses rear/flap like plugin slots for things like RAM and other upgrades (i.e. the RAM comes in a protected shell that plugs in like a SD or CF card) i.e. a non-techie upgradable PC
but now I am getting seriously off topic:dark:
