View Full Version : display problem- need help please
hello reader:) I've got a little problem with my game. after installing the game it started without any problem and the game menu appeared. i went to options and accidentally i changed the details to the best.. I didnt know that the game is going to change resolution as well.. my display monitor is a bit old and it doesn/t work with resolutions higher than 1024x768.. and now i cant see anything on the display, and as well cant change it to the earlier resolution.
does anybody know how to change the resolution out of the game???
or maybe uou could send me some files with correct resolution to put it into the folder..
dunno what to do..
please help:)
thank you

Maybe this will help (I got it from Frontier's RCT3 faq (http://www.frontier.co.uk/games/rct3/faq.html)):
If the game won’t run properly because you selected the wrong screen resolution, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3 and delete the options.txt file. It will then start up again.
you know your the man:) thank you for your help. that was what I needed. the game start properly:) I didnt actualy delete the options.txt file but i edited it and put my resolution and i it worked:)
thank you once more:)
hi...
i'm having the same problem you had 0$KA, but i can't solve it just by deleting the options.txt file...
first time i ran the game it was ok...then i changed the resolution and i keep getting the black screen..
in fact, in my options.txt is:
Language English
FirstTime 1
wasn't it supposed to be a field for resolution?
i can't play the game!!
could someone help me??
hey Coaster.. your problem is that you search wrong file. it is options.txt but its not in the game folder.. read bigland's reply:
"navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\Atari\RCT3 "
aplication data is a hidden folder maybe thts why you have problems with finding it.. but its surely there.
whats more you dont have to delete the file just switch resolution and save changes..
enjoy the game:)
Even simpler is to make sure you download / install update 1 (check out the support/patches link at the top of the page) -
Once this is in you can reset/change settings in game via the tools/options menus.
I use this a lot using medium settings for building big parks/v high for small to medium mainly when just browsing - my pc can handle more but I prefer to keep things running as smooth as I can, as I find a stutter when trying to add the finishing touches to a big ride with lots of scenery really annoying
hey Silkius you didmt get the point of the problem.. which was how to change resolution out-of-the-game.. but thanks anyway.. :)
