View Full Version : Trying to build lifts!!
hello, i am having probs building lifts. when i have completed the lift, it says it cannot open as there is not entrance or exit? i cant see where though! very irritating! can someone help!!
love the game, nearly completed, never built a lift, have you tried the normall way of building an entrance and exit ?:rolleyesa
some roller coasters require lifts for the peeps to access the little entrance and exit gates
either build a pathway with steps, zig zagging it around so not to waste space or, just been on and you need to build to entrances and two exits, one at top, one at bottom, am I helping.....:rolleyesa
i built a rollercoaster in sandbox mode, its in and out gates were high up, so i put in lifts, attached to them, and to the paths below! still no joy!!!
I would in this case deffinately build steps, not all peeps will want to travel on the evelator, plus you will have to make it free !!! try putting queing areas in for lift both ends and path way too........ any joy
Just been back into the game.... you need an entrance and exit for the lift, plus and entrance and an exit for the rollercoaster.... they can't come out of lift straight to rolloercaoster.... but that would be good if they could! Plus an entrance and exit on the ground, with queing area's and path ways in between.....:biggringr
toatlly agree Rachee - one area they still need to work on is the whole transport ride thing - even at the cost of them not being like other rides in the peeps eyes. (Ai) in some ways they need to be seen like paths.
At present even if ride is free - you must still make sure there is a path from both ends of ride joining to the main route - otherwise you run the risk of a group getting split and not knowing how to re-join (i,e, Johnny has decided he want to take ride to far end of park, but rest of group didn't but he doesn't want to take ride back - result 'I'm lost'
I am still trying to connect a water coaster to a lift. I cant work out which way to do it. Everytime i try and open the lift, it says its not connected to an entrance, when it so clearly is!! i even put a connecing path at either end of the lift. god this is irritating! lol, i know i dont need to use the lift but i like the idea, and what is the point of having a lift, if its not useable. didnt i see how to do lifts in the tutorials? which one though? i cant even see the option to raise the queues?

Made a ride with lift setup in the sandbox, and noticed a view things bout them, that i consider them useless atm...
First of all, they are a pain to setup, properly..
You need per level a exit and a entrance, the exit of the elevator of the ride exit can best be close to the entrace of the ride, and the exit of the ride to the entrance of the evevator..
The connect the base elevator path to a busy street, and (at least with me) soon a crowd gathers to ride the elevator up..
Till there no probs for me, but here it goes downhill fast...
When the elevator is up, dozens of peeps are waiting for it at the base level, and the elevator won't come down any sooner as there is a peep taking the elevator back down..
Making a second elevator didnt made any differents, only that i had now 2 cuelines :sour:
Also contructring a elevator is a pain, and exits are imho hard to connect to elevated paths and heights, in fact when i try to build a elevator, i often start with one, and build the rest around it, otherwise they even harder to build..
Considering the tweaking, un-practical use (no-return feature) i dont use them anymore, and hope they get patched in the next patch to more of a usefull form:devil:
like said before elavators should just be viewed as paths, no need for enterance and exits or any of that.
how about elavators in mid-queue?
Got to admit I have never used them because as they are technically rides, I have never seen the point - I mean I can see the attraction if they worked correctly (all too well) but not as is.
Not sure how AI actually works with peeps, but would've thought that if they can spot a loo on other side of park (and take three months to walk there :D ) there should be some way they could implement some kind of logic routine that goes a little like this:
[peep] I want to go from a-b
[ai] what is the most direct route?
if close to transport ride (T1) and this has a station exit close to b (T2)
then take T1 to T2 and walk from t2 to b
i.e. T rides stations are seen as short cuts or pathing routes and thus a continuation of a path - and when a ride is set to Transport (in the ride setup - i.e. at present we have choices for continuous loop/block section)
station 1's entrance is seen to lead to station 2's exit - 2-3 3-4 4-1 etc.,
I know this means they would still get on and off at each station (not sure how you would enter the logic for that too without confusing them) but IMO it would be better than what we have now.
(mind you T rides like Monorail should also restore some vitaility like sitting down - don't know about you, but in big parks I have been only too happy to jump on the railway or whatever to save my feet :) )
