View Full Version : Removing Grids

Hi guys

Yesterday, i was trying to build some of the coasters from my favourite parks. I started with the Python from Busch Gardens in Florida. However, i came across a problem as soon as i went to go into the double corkscrew.

The problem is this (and its a little hard to explain). Using the loose curve (i.e. the one that turns through 180 degrees in, i think, 6 pieces), i placed 1 piece of track, then added an up section to start the corkscrew. The corkscrew special feature didnt pop up which stopped my from being able to build it as it would have been in real life. The problem seems to be with the grid system that RCT uses (and its not just an RCT3 problem, it hasnt been possible (at least, not to my knowledge) since RCT 1).

Basically, it stops coaster designs from being exactly like you really want them to be, so copying real life coasters is difficult (i had no end of trouble trying to get the first drop on the Montu correct, but thats a different story!).

So my question is 'Is there a way to turn off the grid system, to allow me to build coasters as i would like?'

If ive just confused you, let me know, and il try and think of another way of showing you!

basically - no - still not possible. Not sure why, not that they are supposedly in 3d space - but as it stands we still can't build items like corkscrews, loops etc., on an angled (x-y) approach :(

Right, ok, thats a shame.

I asked mainly because, if youve seen the Python from Busch Gardens, the double corkscrew runs parallel to the station (in the opposite direction). However, the best i could to was to get it to go, effectively, diagnolly, so it would either go way too far to the left or go too far right and end up going under the lift hill, which, in real life, it doesnt do.

Hopefully, they will decide to sort it out and we can make rides abit more real.

Also, do you have any idea what the Zero G Roll is? Every time i tried to place one it wouldnt let me, and i've no idea why!
