Hi,

I'm new to the forum and i've had a problem with my graphics card (SiS) and i found one that looks like it would work and i can afford it but can any of you tell me if it would work.

Link to page:PC World Components (http://www.pcwcomponentcentre.co.uk/invt/bfgr400064)

Thanks in advance :)

It will work IF you have an AGP slot on your motherboard.

Do you know if you have an AGP slot ?

If you have this (http://www.pcwcomponentcentre.co.uk/invt/a340t128) may be a better bet....

honestly i doubt that card will play the game well at all.

you'd be much better off with one of THESE (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/9500_to_9600_Series.html) (2nd card down, Avoid SE versions like the plague)

they still arn't exactly the worlds best card, but on a low budget its the best that can be had.

definatly definatly worth £20 more in the long run.

Thanks both of you;

I do have an AGP slot (The brown one) but i'm trying to look for a very basic graphics card, one that is the minimim really to play RCT3, I don't need a 'good' one as i haven't played a PC game in about 4 years and probably won't in the future except for RCT3.

If anybody can give any suggestions etc i would be grateful :D

have a look for a 9200 or a 5200, these would probably be the cheapest card that will run the game reasonably well.

the top one HERE (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/9000_to_9200_Series.html) looks to be a good bet.

Thanks for that Trafman :)

BTW; I have this graphics card that i've had for ages.. never opened it until now and i think it might be ancient, but could anybody tell me if it would work and/or with any extra 'newer' drivers..

Its called "GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB AGP" and under the name it says "2D, 3D & Video enhancement DIGITAL VIBRANCE CONTROL 2ND GENERATION CHIPSET" - Sounds good but is it with the technology needed these days?

- My friend has this exact card in his PC and he gets an error like "Graphics hardware or drivers do not meet minimum specs." and i just wanted to know if it might work for me if i got new drivers, because i don't want to install something that i'll ahve to remove again...

Any help is great.. Thanks :D

a geForce 2 won't have Hardware T&L wich is needed, so , no, it wont work

I think you should buy Radeon 9600 series (or higher)

I had a Geforce 5200 and the game did not run. So I bought a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro and I'm happy with this card

9800PRO is a good card yes, but there are such good offers on the 6600GT, its better to get one of those atm. same price, better card :D

I have a GeForce 4 Mx440, which runs the game no problem at all and can be picked up relatively cheap!

 surprised it can run it. it is technically a GeForce 2 with some added features (must be Hardwar T&L added). it cant be the snmoothest of gameplay can it?

i used to have one (still do technically it was intergrated), *shudders*

Well, im running with the GFX on medium. Its pretty smooth, although at times it does get a little jumpy, especially on some ride cameras.

My gfx card atm is good enough to run pretty much anything, just not up to its full standard. Besides, with the 2nd year of uni approaching in september, il be off to live in a house somewhere near the uni rather than at home, which will liekly mean a sparkly new pc for me :D
