View Full Version : Updates - Smutdates, Drivers - Divers
I am getting sick and tired of this game not working properly, I have just re-installed the game after a Windows install. Previously it crash to desktop, came on here made sure I all the latest drivers, it work fine, did 15 scenarios no problem. Had to do this reboot because I tried some software out that corrupted some files. I had already moved all the updated drivers on CD so I could put them straight on, so here I am just started from scenario 1 again 3 minutes and crash to desktop. What is the problem here? I can understand people downloading software, because of the waste of money they have to spend opn these games only to be told, update this, update that. It stinks.

Windows XP Pro SP1
Sorry, I dont understand.........
It would appear that because of a fresh install the game no longer works, wheras it did before.
I feel the problem lies at your end.
I know this post sounds negative but, speaking for myself, if I have a game that works fine and then stops working after a driver update/install I try to correct the problem, as I assume that, since it worked before I did whatever I did, it must be something Ive done.
There is a new version of the patch.
Maybe that will help.....
PATCH! (http://www.uk.atari.com//?pg=game_detail&productID=149)
No what I was saying is that I got it working as I searched and got all the updated drivers, saved them to disk, re-installed Windows, put the game back on installed the drivers I had saved and it crashed, Why should it do this after installing the drivers that made it work previously?
Has your pc been changed in any way?
Are you running RCT3 at the same settings as before?
Yes the PC is exactly the same way as before, I do the same thing everytime I reboot, go to Windows Update and download everything from there first, except for SP2 then all driver updates the install the game on default settings.
Have you tried the latest patch?
(I know, Im clutching at straws here..... )
I have installed it, yet to try as I have been practising for a UT Clan match, so I will try soon and let you know, to be honest all my excitement has gone out of RCT3 due to not knowing if it is going to crash.
Ive got to be honest and say Im on my way to bed, but let me know how you get on......
If youre still having problems, post a dxdiag and i'll get one of the smart mods to have a look at it.......:)

Comes under 'The joys of owning/using a PC' I'm afraid :(
Sounds like one of your drivers/updates/game or even direct x didn't install 100%
The fact that it 'did work' shouts that something is not how it was - and the game being the lesser of the system running apps (i.e. it does not change the way your system works- whereas drivers do) - says that it is unlikley to be the game itself and therefore something else is at fault. Either the way a driver /update installed or one of the settings is not the way you had it before.
Do you have any anti adware or anti virus software running - some of these have registry\system protection sytems (which is good) but can sometimes un-intentionally stop a program from making a necessary registry/system change (which is not so good - but it is just doing its job - you can thank the hackers and virus kiddies of the world for this necessity)
Sometimes it is advisable to unload/disable any of these protection progs - prior to installing a driver/patch even installing/uninstalling some programs. (just make sure you put it all back on before going on-line)
I know this to my own cost (even after nearly 30 years of computing) either a driver hasn't installed uite as well as it should have or it has somehow decided to set something new somewhere.
