View Full Version : C&C People
It seems as if a lot of C&C people will be getting this game.
Man i was in love with Red Alert 2 and Yuris Revenge. Two of my fav games all time. I just didnt buy into the idea of Generals. C&C is either Nod or GDI, or Soviet and Allies. You simply cannnot add chinese and GLA or whatever. NO SIR!
But since a lot of C&C people are looking forward to this game. Im wondering if the gameplay would be similar to the one in C&C. As in you deploy your MCV, and the start building the base.
Or is it like what they use now days. In generals for instance.
From the screens and videos I have seen, it looks like the base building will be like Generals and most other RTS games. The best way to describe this game is "they way Generals should have been done".

That's exactly how I would put it, although the playing style in Generals was not similar to any previous C&C game it still lacked in every sinlge other area for a game to be called 'C&C', AoW on the other hand at least has the balanced quality of a C&C (Balance between gameplay and story).
I liked it when you had the little sidebar on the right side, and u could just pump those Rhino tanks and then freakin take some doggies and rush the hell out of ur opponents. man that was pimp!
i like quick fast games. i mean reasonably fast. i just hate it when a game is like 2 hours long with freakin weather storm and stuff. i mean its fun every once in a while but dont wanna do that every game.
and do you know how well these guys r supporting the clans.
cuz clans were a big part of C&C world. and what made it sooo fun! if u ask me

I'm a C&C addict.
From RA all the way to G:ZH.
But, Act of War is going to blow away C&C. It's engine is insanely good, the units and gameplay will be better, and the AIs will be 'lifelike'.
I seriously can't wait!!
.......:yum:..........
****, I gotta change my pants.. got a little to excited.. :p:
The GDI/Nod story was great, especially when you figured out that the Soviets were used by Nod, and that the tiberium meteor was not a coincidence, but some alien terraforming plan.
A lot of peeps r looking for the next Tiberian Sun. Rumors are that it will be called Tiberian Twilight.
But the news is that they are working on a Red Alert 3.

Tiberian Twilight was being worked on, then EALA shut down the project to make way for Red Alert 3..
oh. i tell you, i am not a big fan of this EA LA group.
I miss good ole Westwood.
But how bout the clans. These forums are pretty damn active but you guys think a lot of people will buy this game.

I really hope this game doesnt end up being one of those super awesome games that no one buys. A big community (like Warcraft's) is key to a fun game.

Atari better do alot of exposure for the game then.

Half the problem is that it's developed by a company no one knows nothing about. At least they have Atari as a publisher, but Atari's propaganda is no where near as good as EA's. The other half of the problem is that they arent doing a very good job marketing it to the US audience. That's a HUGE mistake as the entire game is based around a US storyline. If the game was about a European conflict, that's a different story, but they're marketing the game in the wrong place tbh.
yeah i didnt even know about this game till i went hunting for RTS games. i needed something to bring back the good old memories.
and these forums are UK.

Yes advertise. THe only reason i found out about this game was because i read about it on military.com and was hooked immediately. I'd understand if they didnt advertise if it had a franchise name like GTA or sumthing but it doesn't. IGN rarely even updates their news for this game. Ya need to get it advertised on gamespy:madred: , IGN:tup: , and all those gaming mags. TV COMMERCIALS!!! that is where its all at. and of course the good, old G4 Tech TV

but taht costes lots and lots of $.they better invest the money in the game itself.instead of creating shitloed of hype around it(hammmm.....generals anybody ?)
I hadn't heard of this game until about 3 weeks ago. I just found a link on the EA Generals forum posted by some user. That is certainly not the way to market a game.
I'm a big Gen/ZH fan and am looking forward to something that doesn't have trolls in it!
I hope this game measures up, but to be honest I have my doubts.

True, they do need to get it out more like putting up previews on all the game sites helps. Here are some key ones Atari.
Homelan Fed,
Actiontrip
Gamespot
Gamespy
Firingsquad
Avault
Having previews will get people pumped up for the game. THe only way I found out about this game was through searching around on teh gamespot strategy channel and seeing the developer interview when it first came out.
Same here opensvr, I think the demo will indicate if this game is even worth a look

Depending on how I like the demo, a team and I are going to be opening up an Act of War replays site much like cncreplays.com, it's target will be the multiplayer audience that's interested in really getting into the game and getting good. It will feature a strategy section for each faction for discussion, and a replays section where replays will be reviewed and rated. Ill keep you guys posted on this after the demo, because if the demo sucks, I wont be buying the game and wont be interested in administrating a fan site for it.

the company ain't gonna make money if ppl don't know about the game. No one in my gaming clan has even heard of this game.
word of mouth only works so far, but look at it this way, i too found out about the game thru a board on cncreplays, and i later reposted the topic to promote it more becasue it wasnt picked up.
Anyway, from me finding out about the game, i told 3 of my freinds, who are also now nuts about it and are anticipating the release.
My 3 freinds are gona go ahead and tell 3 of their freinds (u get the idea), and so the word f mouth can continue..but no where near as effective as strong marketing. There should be huge ads on major sites, u know those real annoying ones that pop up over the whole screen, all they need to do is display some screenshtos of the game, and people will love it.
Atari needs to spend money to make money...atm im not impressed at all with there marketing strategy, or thereof, lack of one
