Demofiles corrupted!!!!

hi all,

yeah i think finaly i`ve got it. I start the download from the offiziel homepage.........i wate more then 2 hours but when i install it.......some files corrupted. What a shame Atari. I never will download the Demo again. 2 hours is too mutch.

You probably downloaded it with Windows D/ler?
You need some download manager like Download Accelerator/GetRight/FlashGet or something like that.

Incorrect. Infact downloading large files (over 100mb) with download managers is not a good thing to do. When downloading, just make sure you are not running anything, or doing anything on your pc. Just click the link and walk away.

Why is it not a good thing to do? It's much safer, and in many cases much faster due to mirror search. I _never_ had corrupted file with d/l manager and file corruption (especially when file is above 100 mb, and server is overloaded) with Windows d/ler is pretty normal.

Safer? If a file is croupt, that does not mean it is full of bugs, just means that bytes were not moved correctly. You can ask any major internet c++ programer, even serverside coders, tell weill tell you the same thing. Usieng download managers are not a good thing. Why do you think that so offten you see sites that say; when downloading this file, please trun off your download managers.

I had the same problem downloading the demo from official website, except I'm using the Firefox downloader. I also tried grabbing the demo from Atari ftp, but they reset connection which caused the demo to fail. Good thing GameSpot posted the demo on their servers which I quickly downloaded from there and file was in tact.

One gripe... it be nice if the demo installed a shortcut =P

Just make a shortcut the the .exe of the game, Its like a 7mb file. Then move the shortcut to your desktop.

I used Fileplanets own damn downloading program and I got corrupted files. All I did was playing LOTR and Need for speed while it was downloading.

Fileplanets shity download program only supports crappy Internet Explorer.

That sux about the FIleplanet thing, I downloaded from FileFront played madden in the BG things went fine. Sometimes when files are corrupted is becaue of Ploss that may occur or issues on the servers side that messes up the way the file is packaged.

ROFL, well mate, thats why. You *only* played 2 major pc games while downloading another game thats over 600mb. You need to redownlaod the game and walk away from your pc. Do not touch:p:

I have never had that kind of a problem. Iw downloaded stuff like Planetside 1.5GB++ while useing the computer.

Anyway, why is the demo in a WinRAR selfextract? Why not make a proper install like every other game out there.

You can buy yourself a gamespy id. I think they are like 8$ now, and just get it for a month.They will gave you no line wate and no download cap.

I find that FileFront's free service is fast and very reliable, so try downloading the demo from there.

Gamershell has got lots of good mirrors. Those in The Netherlands should be fast in the rest of europe too, they are for me. :)
