View Full Version : Serious Graphics problem please read!
Hello there.
Basically once the demo is loaded I get flashing black squares right from side to side of the entire screen (not always in the same place, but usually fairly central), this happens in the menu, all the cut scenes and in game. This is my rig info;
AMD 2500 Barton /1024 Corsair / Leadtek FX5900LX 128 / Abit NF7-s v2.
Does anyone else know of this problem? Im really looking forward to playing this one so I hope it can be sorted!!
Ive tried altering the resolution to 800x600 then 1024x768 then chaging the quality settings
I am using the latest forceware/nForce2 Chipset drivers off of guru3d.com.
Best Regards.

I belive you had the some problem as me. Just reinstall to your hdd,ie;move the file to a hdd of you choice. Dubble click, install. If it keeps up, reboot.

can't really help ya there but updating those drivers and lowering detail settings maybe
cheers guys, ill try rolling back my drivers + Installing to a different drive when I get home from work. Was kinda hoping this was a registered error that was being worked on.
Ive noticed that it only does this in full screen, when the game is ran in a window I have no problems whatsoever. Still no ideas anyone?

Try alt tabbing or running in the same resolution as your desktop I remember when I used to work on my 3d engine when I was first learning stupid graphic artifacts would occur with the resolution change.

amd xp 2800+
Ati saphire 9800pro cat5.1

Same resolution as the desktop and it happens on all settings
black flashings where only a little squire is visible
Is there any news on how this glitch can be fixed?

Video drivers are usualy the key (update them)...if not...resintall latest dirext X.. and worst comes to worst, find motherboard drivers for ur card, and get the AGP or watever slot your card is, driver.

I tried this on a few resolutions, and windowed / full screen.....
My Resolution = 1280x1024 ; Using the newest nVidia drivers (6.14)
1st try... 800x600x32 (Full-Screen) - Did have the lines
2nd try... 800x600x32 (Windowed) - Didn't have the lines
3rd try... 1024x768x32 (Full-Screen) - Did have the lines
4th try... 1024x768x32 (Windowed) - Didn't have the lines
5th try... 1280x1024x32 (Full-Screen) - Did have the lines
6th try... 1280x1024x32 (Windowed) - Didn't have the lines
(I also tried each of these with and without programs running in the background. Didn't seem to help.)
Heres what struck me as odd though... I restarted my computer and now it works fine (with no lines, anywhere) on every resolution, windowed or full screen... so you tell me... is it something to do with the memory being full or something? (or video memory?)... =/
Edit: Allright! I think I'm was able to re-produce this. I played an hour of C&C Generals, then quit. I started up the AoW demo, and got the lines again. So its something to do with Generals... because I haven't had it happen with other games.
