this sucks, I downloaded the demo from the Act of War site TWICE corrupted both times, then I got it from gamershell still corrupted, I then tried to get it off Bit Torrent, and the damn executable was "linked to a missing DLL file" jesus! what can I do to get this friggin demo to work?:madred:

Were you playing some game while you were downloading it, or useing any heavy running app. For the install, did you drag the file to a hdd, dubble click it, yes,yes and install it. Also try rebooting if you have not.
no I started the DL, and left, then I just ran the installer from the desktop where it put it, all 4 times lol, that and I rebooted before posting

Yeah i no. Im dl it second time, dunno if its gonna wotk or not. If not then i wont buy it, as simply as that. Hell if they cant it right with the demo i doubt the full game will be any good.

Yeah try updating your unpacker.
TanKiller - this is some wacky idea to just 'leave computer' for like 4hours when it's d/ling? I could do most of coding done by that time, not to mention games ;) D/l managers are checking that the files are moved correctly from servers, and unfortunately windows d/l'er just get'em without checking anything.. hell! sometimes it even finishes d/l'ing in middle of file because of overload of servers/slow connection.
Anyways: Khe try to download it again from official website, this time using some download manager and use newest winrar (found on rarlab.com)

I just wander ,haw the f@|< that relativly short
and small demo is taking up 1.5 gig of my HD.maybe there are more level,but they are not unlocked to us :cool: !and why I haev a gamespy.dll in the demo install folder ? there is no multi,so what is gamespy doing there ?

Hey, I am just giveing you one of the ways to not get the file croupt, if you have a bad connection, thats your problem. Just download it while your sleeping:bounce:
yeah I'll give it a try, any suggestions on which DL manager to use?

i downloaded mine with "GetRight"
well, I used a DL manager, it still said there was a missing DLL file, I cant win....

This is weird:o try using newest winrar/winzip. (rarlabs.com or downloads.com for winzip)
yeah I updated to what rarlabs.com said was their newest version, after I extracted it and ran the AoW executable, it popped with 2 errors, 1 saying that there was a missing DLL, and the other saying that the executable was linked to a missing file

I'm getting the same thing, using the newest Winrar and just letting the D/L work without anything else running. It says that it couldn't find something in a dll file. Are the mods going to address this or what?

Man that is a really wierd thing right there. With all those downloads I wish it would've worked for you, umm anyway you can throttle your downloads to possibly go slower?
you think that slowin the download might help? cause right now I'm considering not buyin this I'm that frustrated :frownblue

Address what, technical problems that you haven't even reported to us? Guys, we scan almost every post (but mainly for flaming, swearing and spamming) but if you have a specific problem you'll need to pm us, we can't be everywhere. We can try to help, but moderators are not technical support.

Well, I tried slowin the DL down, even tried a new DL manager still either corrupted or missing a DLL file :frownblue I really want to play this demo bah I guess I'm stuck playin DoW lol

Sorry man, guess you'll have to wait ti'll retail. Demo is pretty fun you get through it quick but you can find out and do other things by testing stuff.

Did you run the wmfdist.exe file once before running the demo ?

You dont have to open it with winrar,just open it and it will be fine.
I had the corrupt files thing too and used the GetRight download manager and it worked.Make sure you use the dl manager:biggringr
