Crash to desktop bug found - or possibly one of many
Can someone please confirm the following?
I was able to duplicate a crash to desktop (CTD) five times in a row this weekend when using the rowing boats ride.
Do the following:
- Build a rowing boats ride. (Any length track – did not test open plan)
- Put more than 1 boat on the ride.
- Open it and let peeps on.
- Once there are a couple of boats moving, close the ride.
- The boats with peeps on should still continue back to the station.
- NOW – with the ride closed and some peeps still on boats – ADD or REMOVE some boats – TADA - CRASH TO DESKTOP.
This happened to me 5 times out of seven. Scenarios or sandbox
Could not confirm or duplicate this with Canoes or Peddle Boats – Got fed up and want to save my computer from all the rebooting – (unless Atari/frontier would sponsor me a PC)
System Spec:
- RCT3 Euro Version Patch 2
- Windows XP Pro SP2
- AMD Athlon XP64 +2800 (2.1Ghz)
- Samsung 512Mb 400Mzh DDR
- 256Mb Geforce 5700

Hooch - like you I would not want to try to replicate this, I don't do anything that causes an unscheduled reboot more than once if I can help it (so thanks for the heads up)
Out of interest - if you close and allow peeps to totally depart/empty ride - THEN add/remove boats - does it still crash? or is it okay?
If = crash then would guess safest bet for now would be to close/empty/delete ride then put in new one (don't tend to be that complex) .
Have discovered some CTD's doing things that when you think about it - are not surprising (as in asking the game to do something wrong) for e.g spliting rides into two (prime example was go-karts in chequered flag - trying to turn them into 4x go-kart tracks ) or even removing some track sections from one end ,then the other leaving a sperate section to delete at end - and lastly taking part of one track running it to another ride and vice versa with the other )
I was miffed when it did it twice to me - then I realised that what i was doing wasn't very wise from a computers logic point of view and stopped doing it (well instead I did it the hard way, deleting and building as I went - leaving a gap at all times) = no more CTD's
In other words (I think) these are things you shouldn't technically be able to do, but can bugs - in your case it realy should have a pop up or something saying 'you cannot do this as your ride is not empty' When you add /remove cars they reset at station (no matter where they are) so, with peeps still on it probably gets confused as to what to do with them - still a bug though and still worth chucking at Frontier.

I have only been able to replicate this with peeps on the ride. If it is empty their seems to be no problem. I guess it has something to do with the fact that this kind of ride does not have a “test” mode. So you can not put the ride in test – and then close it. Pre patch 2, peeps got lost if you closed a coaster with them still on it, this has been fixed now and they all appear at the exit. They don’t like this though.
Try this for fun – build a medium – large mini golf, wait for it to fill up with peeps – it takes a lot of peeps – then close the ride. They all appear at the exit – and it looks like they are having a huge queue line fight – they all “twich” and say “ouch –that smarts” – mindless fun.

Oh, and another nice to have would be to allow these water rides to take only one peep. as the ride exitement drops, there is always one poor sucker sitting alone in a boat for hours on end waithing for someone else to join.
