Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me. Before i upgraded my pc from a athlon 1600+ 1gb ddram 2100, nvidia gefore ti200, creative soundblaster
to a
intel p4 3.ghz with HT, xfx geforce 6800 ultra, 1gb ddram 2100, realtek audio ac97
my rct3 worked fine. you know when you first play the game and on the frontier sign when it comes up theres a rollercoaster which is animated goes around the sign...well mine's no longer animated and just features a still image of it, i no longer see the game introduction screen either and when i get to the main screen, the background images are no longer moving with real-time footage from rct 3 parks but several stills of different scenarios scrolled through. That's not the only thing, there is also no music in my rct 3 anymore. It worked fine before, i have both patches. the only sounds i get are the buttons and rides moving but there is no music watsoever. has anyone else experienced this problem??? does anyone know how i can fix it?? HELP!

how do i do that?? what do you mean?? disable the realtek audio ac97 or through rct3? if so(rct3)..how?

Not through RCT3
Run dxdiag and try dropping sound acceleration to standard.........Im not saying it will work mind you.......

nope, didn't work. guess im gonna have to upgrade my soundcard, was going to anyway...
UPDATE: i've made some revelations, as for the atari and frontier video screens not showing up, they are DEFINITELY in my rct 3 folder, because i've just been watching them & and as for the music, well i'm sitting here listening to the rollercoaster music now! so what's wrong with it!? any ideas?!

Hmm......'tis a strange one, to be sure........
Have you got anything overclocked in your system? (not that you'd need to...:lightbulb )
Uninstall/reinstall?
*Clutchs.........at ......straws*

Seems like something has changed on your system between original install and now ???
Joining Fluxx in straw clutching, but you could try deleting the options file - on an xp system this would be in something like:
C:\Documents and Settings\Silk\Application Data\Atari\RCT3\options.txt
(I tend to move to another folder rather than delete - so I don't loose anything)
This will force the game to use the default settings and write a new one.

still doesnt seem to work. i think a problem maybe my psw not supplying enough power to my gfx card as it keeps telling me ALTHOUGH i have a 550w psu!
yes it is the 66.93 installation file..

550w is a fair beast of a PSU and should be more than capable of providing sufficient power. The fact you are getting reports that you are not getting enough power to your gfx cards is very suspicious.
Some new gfx cards actually require extra power and thus have a socket for providing this (i.e. have a power connector too rather than just taking the base voltage from the slot - like the older ones did - for e.g. http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-012073.htm
sorry I'm a bit out of date on the latest new fangled gfx cards and devices- (I really must find some time to catch up a bit)
Fluxx? is this the case - if so - might want to check it is actually connected, and to a good lead.
If it is new and bought complete, I would be looking at getting some tech support as there is no way a pc with a psu this size should have ANY power problems (other than on your leccy bill :D )

it does have two power slots yes, well it is a q-tec psu after all. I thought i'd save money.....:rolleyesa

The 6800 Ultra needs 2 molex connectors to work........:eekblue:
(Its a hungry beastie, 'tis true)
Theres various post in all sorts of forums that say you should have seperate leads for each connector (Not shared with anything else either....:lightbulb ) and loads of tech stuff like this....
With your hardware if you dont have AT LEAST 25v then your screwed.
you need a psu with a minimum of 25v on the 12+v rail. and i mean MINIMUM
your hardware is gunna run way better if you had 2 individual 12v+ rails.
but also remember if it aint broken dont fix it.
Etc, etc.
Are you having problems with any other game?
If you are it might, as Mr Silk says, be worth checking your power leads.
I dont think its a driver issue, as my 6800nu runs it on 66.93's just fine.

ye, i went onto the xfx site and noticed it needs both to be connected. both now are connected and the power required insufficient message has gone..but those animated loading screens still do not show up. I really have no idea what could be wrong with both that and the music screens....how about i install the demo and see if that works again?

--marty
You could try...........:lightbulb
I see youve asked in the US forum as well (with no luck as yet)
Are your other games working ok?
xavier2k3

ok...so i tried the demo and yeh, that doesnt seem to work either....i really have no idea what could be wrong so i'm guessing that it HAS to be my gfx card, it was all working fine before i upgraded. I'm getting a new soundcard though so that may solve the music problems but as for the animated loading screens of frontier, atari and the in-menu moving screens, i really have no clue. nope, had no luck with us forum either.

The menu screens have never been animated, in my version. I just get a slideshow of screenshots, including any pictures I or my peeps have taken. I thought moving images in the menus was a feature dropped from an early demo?

I think that your RCT3 has set itself to use a lower spec graphics card - ie whatever your underpowered 6800 was equivalent to (FX5200:confused: )
If there is a game file that stores the options for your hardware, I would rename it, and restart the game - see if it picks up new settings.
One more simple thing you haven't mentioned -did you install the drivers for your monitor, or is it just listed as a generic "Plug and Play"?

well i've deleted the options file which is the settings rct 3 picks up when you first start the game. i've uninstalled and reinstalled to change this many times, i really have no clue what to do.
for my monitor, yeh, i installed the drivers off it the cd. In display properties in properties, it says its plug and play but when i go to NVIDIA display tab at the bottom right on my taskar, it comes up as AOC LM929 which it is. Any other ideas?
