Windows XP SP2 introduces the NX security feature for athlon64 and P4 processeur which names end with J

This feature can make the game crash during startup, if so you have to disable it. To do so :

* Control Panel => System => Advanced

*click the settings button in the first field data-execute-prevention * There are 2 options, if the second one
(enable data-execute-prevention for all programs and
services except the followings..), enable act of war in the list,
or choose the option "enable data execution prevention only for necessary windows programs or services"

Also, get the latest AMD drivers for athlon64 from www.amd.com

Hi !
Not in my case: athlon 64 3000+ (winchester type) winxp pro sp2, all drivers updated, nx deactivated by ticking the box...
I simply applied latest AOW patch (even though the game crashed during loading) and it worked.
