I just re-installed Neverwinter Nights and it's expansions after buying Hordes of the Underdark, but when I go to play the game (with the Hordes of the Underdark CD in the CD Drive) it asks me to insert the Hordes of the Underdark Play Disc.
What can I do to resolve this issue? I have sent an email to Atari with my problem, but wondered if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it?

I don't have hordes (yet) but am a NWN player.

Nothing leaps to mind, unless you have more than one cd/dvd drive and you installed it on one and are trying to use the other to play (some games get picky like that)

Otherwise try starting it with the NWN play disk in.

Lastly you could try the NWN forums over at www.nwn.bioware.com (they are massive)

I would also suggest avoiding aDVD rom drive - if you have a CD rom, use that instead. Apparently copy protection on DVD players is a bit Rottweiler-ish:rolleyes:

I have tried the NWN forums already with little success. I have installed it through my CD rom drive and try to play it through that, but no go.
I have un-installed, re-installed, shut down, re-booted...

I do have a dvd RW drive aswell, but don't install or play game cds through it. Soley use it for backup purposes.

Also I have XP and there was a suggestion in the NWN forums to download a fix from Microsoft for SP1, but I have SP2 installed, so it won't allow me to install the SP1 patch.

I don't know what else to try. :eekblue:

Have you tried just installing/playing NWN on its own again? (i.e. without the hordes)

I would try that next and use the updater to make sure that is fully upto date. If all is ok (and it plays) then try re-installing hordes afterwards.

If it fails then, then you could try it via the other drive (I have a coulple of games that don't like one of my drives forcing me to use the other)

I also don't know whether there is just the one disk (cos I don't have hordes - but I have known shops to give me games with disks missing) - But I did see (via the NWN site) that you 'must' have done the FULL install of NWN (2gb)

I tried installing NWN, played it and saved a game and all was okay.
Did the same after installing SotU and again, works fine.
It’s only when and after I’ve installed HotU that the problem appears.

I will try the latest update from the NWN site for HotU and see if that helps. If not I got a reply from Atari, so I will try what they suggest.

I think I may have to try and somehow update my firmware.

I’ll let you know if it works.

I had the same problem when I reinstalled it all again. Sadly, I cant remember how I fixed it. Something to do with patching the game, I think.

Hello All,
I managed to sort the problem.

I downloaded all the latest updates for NWN and the expansions then installing from a different drive (my DVD-RW instead on the CD-ROM), I installed NWN first and patched it, then SotU and patched it, then HotU and patched it. Crossed my fingers and pressed play and it worked!
Not sure whether it was installing through a different drive that did it, or updating each install. Might have been both.

Either way I’ve decided to post all info I have incase anyone else has probs in the future. Thanks heaps to those who gave their suggestions, much thanks! x

It might be worth contacting Securom as they have sent out specific fixes for what is known by them to be a copy protection issue. Their website is http://www.securom.com and their E Mail address is support@securom.com. Just in case I have included some generic trouble shooting for this issue. Make sure you have the latest version of Direct X.
