This is the microsoft LINK (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842465) dealing with stop 7f errors. It's not as scary as it looks - basically, it means you may need to update your motherboard BIOS, or your CPU may be damaged/overheating. If you don't know how to update your BIOS, get a friendly geek to do it for you - it can lead to catastrophic mobo failure if you do it incorrectly (I'm not trying to scare you, just letting you know!)

Yeah, generally leads towards hardware trouble, but doesn't mean its fatal or too much to worry about.

Next time if you get the error, write down the message in full ...post it on here.
Does it only do it with Act of War, or does it happen with other games too ...and are they generally Direct 3D and / or Open GL ....what make motherboard do you have, chipset etc ....post all of your details here and I will actively help you to resolve the problem as I know what a pain they could be. Had it months ago, turned out to be something daft .....an AGP driver infact for my motherboard.

:weirdblue The pop up is presented on a blue background with white righting.

“ A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

Run these checks
Check for faulty or mistake memory
Try changing video adapters

Technical information:
***stop:0x0000007f(0x0000000d, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
Contact your system assistance ”

I have done what it has insisted and I have found that every thing is in order, I think.

The problem doesnt effect anyother of my games just this one,
i have know idea what generally Direct 3D and / or Open GL means and i cant find the other info either.

I know that its a "intel pentium 3 processor, 927mhz, 384 mb ram, aptiva"
I have a nvidia geforce fx 5200 graphic card and only hell knows what my sound card is.

I have instaled "processor frequence id thingy which warspite told me to do but the problem still persists, maybe i should see a doctor. :eekblue:

Please help, and if you need more information tell me how to find it.

thanks :)

Pickle mate - I think you arte a bit underpowered. The system specs for this game need a 1.5Ghz CPU, and recommends a 3.0GHz CPU. You have a P3 900 - 600MHz short of the minimum recommended spec. The good news is that processors and motherboards are dirt cheap now - you just need a friendly nerd to rip your old machines guts out and stick in some new stuff

Solution:
-Install Microsoft windows XP pro/home with ******SP2*****(MUST)
- then install the game...
- do not download patchs form the internet explorer....
- double clik on ACTOFWAR.EXE and go to online and it will tell u that u need an update for a patch.. clikc ok and download it .. <<--- thats the best working and safest patch here...

then defrag ur computer and restart and enjoy

I also have a P3 1.3 ghz pc and everytime I try to play AOW
my pc crashes with that error message (same as Pickleman) particularly
on the Day after map.
All though this error message is usually a hardware error, in this case it is not
as the "D" in the message indicates an access vilolation buy the program and is an uncommon version of this error.
In other words i think the game has a bug in it that seems to be only a problem for P3 systems.
I know I don't have min specs so I don't think Atari will fix it any time soon,
which is a pity as I enjoy the game.
Any body else have this problem apart from pickleman ?
