Hello,
I have a real problem running this game. These are the minimum specs:
Processor: 2Ghz
OS: Windows 2000/XP
Memory: 512mb
Hard/Disk Space: 4gb
Gfx: 128mb T&L
Direct X: 9.0c
and these are my computer's specs.:
CPU: AMD (Winchester) Athlon 64bit 3500+
Gfx: Dual 6600GT Chip 256MB Graphics Accelerator PCI-e x 2
Mobo: Gigabyte GV-3D1 with GA-K8NXP-SLI
Memory: OCZ Premier Dual Channel Kit 2x512MB DDR400 PC3200
HDD: Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200GB 7200rpm Serial ATA150 8mb Cache x 2
My graphics drivers are up to date, but I only get an average frame rate of 5(!) on the lowest settings possible: 800x600 resolution 16bit colours.
Obviously there's something wrong here, my PC plays Doom3 on ultra settings with no problems. Has anyone else had problems or do I need to take my copy back to the shop?
Thanks in advance for any advice
Try upping everything to full (it shouldnt worry your hardware)
I tried it at default and it didnt run too well......
I upped everything and it seemed (for some strange reason :lightbulb ) to run better and faster.....
Give it a go.........its worth a shot..... :)
Nice PC by the way....... ;)

Cheers
I usually start new games on max. settings anyway  but when I had just 5 frames per second I dropped the settings and dropped them some more and it made little difference :frownblue
I have also done a full defrag, virus scan and nothing has helped. Everything else works fine.
I will probably go back to the shop and get another copy to try out. The one thing that bothered me was that the game wasn't sealed when I got it.

The game wasn't sealed? :lightbulb Something not right there.
(Notices X-Fire) hmmm. :)

I have had games that haven't been sealed. It won't matter if they are or not. The game won't run because your PC is playing up. Take it back, get another copy - but it probably won't fix it.
It has nothing to do with the disc, the game itself is just awfully buggy i run it on a similar rig. And still its jerky as hell... hopefully they will patch this soon cause the game itself is great!
Cheers,

I took this back to the shop today, but they didn't have another copy so they gave me my money back :frownblue
If the game is really this jerky at low settings and there's nothing wrong with my PC then it's a huge disappointment. I have been looking forward to this game for months. I don't think I'll be in a hurry to get another copy just yet though. I will probably format my PC and wait for a few other people to get the game to see how it holds up on their systems.
As for the comment about not being sealed, the reason for that is in case that a CD key or serial number is needed to activate it I know it won't have been used (although that's not the case with BP). Some of you may have heard that Half-Life 2 was released in France with the serial numbers on the outside of the case, so people were just writing them down without buying them. The honest people who then bought the game found they couldn't activate it via Steam because the CD key had been already used.
I know this is a relatively new game and not overly popular at the moment, but is it possible for the admins of this forum to start a BP section please?

Ok, I wish I hadn't taken it back now! I have found out on some other forums that a lot of people are having problems, even with high end PCs.
Recommended settings are:
Video Options:-
GFX=Very High
Click on Custom Effects.
Lighting=Vertex (the regular setting is what makes the game jerky!)
Dynamic Shading=Yes
Particle System=High
Weather Effects=Yes
Bump Mapping=Yes (if your card supports it)
Water Reflections=Yes
Static Geo=1000m
Glow=On
I have also read that the developers are making a patch to make this a multiplayer! :D

You'll be even more sorry when you read this, I've just found this post in the other off topic section we have here
AMD 3200
1Gig Crucial Ram
Audigy Sound
Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb graphics
Graphics Settings:-custom Gfx, evrything FULL except for the LOD settings which i put about halfway
custom Effects, EVERYTHING MAX except lighting which i had to put on Vertex or the game was choppy.
1024x768 32Bit
Results:-
GRAPHICS: 8.5
The game looks BEAUTIFUL with the graphics set as above. No jerkiness whatsoever, No ragdoll effects (which is dissappointing). Sometimes the blood pools appear on a table, or up a lampost . Weather effects are absolutely stunning. Day and night cycles very realistic (attacking a settlement at midnight is a sight to be seen). Weapon models look good (not quite CS quality but very good all the same). The jungle looks great, very dense vegetation. Tracer effects from the enemies weapons is real good (if you have the Static Geo set to 1000m you can see a firefight happening from a massive distance with Binoculars). The scenery (Bridges, Mountains etc.) Is STUNNING (VERY Far Cry).
SOUND: 7.0
The sound was quite buggy when it came to the speech, some of the time there would be no speech at all, just captions (but this is easily rectified in a patch). Weapon sounds were very realistic (the AK47 actually sounds like an AK47) Wildlife sounds and Vehicle sounds were accurate and not annoying. Just needs patching is all.
GAMEPLAY: 8.5 (will review IF the Multiplayer Patch arrives)
You can choose to do the main mission (which requires money to get the required info as to where to start hunting for your daughter) or you can do Sub-missions for the various Factions in the gameworld(which earn you the money required for the main quest),The missions are very diverse (Assassination, Theft, Surveilance, Escort, Infiltration etc.). Plenty of Factions to affiliate with (Each with their own missions and agendas) Generally if you side with the CIA, Government or Civvies then you normally end up going against the Mafia, Geurrillas and Bandits. A HUGE World, now i mean HUUUUGE. I took a car 7KM out into the jungle, got jumped by Bandits (I was working for the CIA) who blew up my car (yes they abumsh you as you drive past) nearly got killed but escaped into the jungle, THEN had to walk about 3.5KM (which took me like 15 mins or so) before a car came by, CarJacked it (Shoot the driver in the head as he drives by) and drove the remaining 4KM back to the CIA base (that took me about another 6-10mins) BTW i got lost and ended up behind some AMAZING looking mountains and had to walk like 2KM round them last night, but i didnt mind cos i ran into some Mafia in a car , and they WEREN'T kidding when they said it was Seamless with NO Loading, I didnt see ONE loading screen after i srated the game proper. AI isn't too bad (some people have criticized it) then enemy do forward/side rolls to avoid your gunfire, sometimes they shoot aimlessley but i was playing on EASY so it is probably more accurate on NORMAL or HARD. The Voice Acting is a bit rubbish i must confess and i mean what was the deal with the **** song during installation OMG!. Annoy one Faction/Group and they will remember it so be warned, choose your allies carefully. Eac time you kill an enemy a row of boxes appears on the left of the screen showing how your act has effected your relations with the various Factions. The POSSIBILITY of MultiPlayer has got me drooling, IF they can utilise the hole are in MP games then this will BLOW the current MP titles to smithereens. If i had to make comparisons, i would probably say, Deus EX+Far Cry+Operation Flashpoint (For its expansive area).
REPLAYABILITY: 9
Due to the fact that once you choose your allies it makes it virtually impossible to do jobs for the alter Factions plus the fact that the world is so huge, it will take you a LONG time to finish the game and wont see even half of the missions.
OVERALL:8.5 (With the possibility of a higher mark after a bugfix/multiplayer patch)

Wow -I might try it now.I avoid new games like the plague, till the people with high-end gaming rigs have screamed the place down and got patches made :D So..errr..you think it will run on my overclocked Duron 1600 with a Geforce FX5200? Or do I need to re-mortgage the house again? :frownblue
Hello, i've bought boiling point this afternoon, but when i want to play it, it says first that i haven't got enought RAM, but that i can try to play it..., but when i press ok, then a few moments later it says that i haven't got the right driver or a videocard that is unsupported, i am sure that i've got the latest drivers, and i do´nt see anywhere that the Geforce MX4000 is not supported.
Can somebody help me with this?

No.
Mainly because this is the 3rd thread about the same problem.
Oh, by the way, GeForce MX cards are **** no matter what series they are. They're a waste of cash. Either buy GeForce FX or switch to ATI.
Warspite
24-05-2005, 17:08
MX4000 might be a little low powered for this game - the specs seem very high.
Recommended spec is a 2.0GHz processor,512 Ram adn 128MB graphics card. I think the absolute minimum card needed is probably a true dx 9.0 card like the FX5200.hell, you might get yours to work, but if you are short of ram AND using a low end graphics card I don't think you stand a chance. With just one item below spec, you might have a chance, but not 2 items below spec. :(

I have scoured the web to find out more information on how to run this game properly (unpatched).
There is a lot of useful information here (http://www.boiling-point.net/). However, some of their improvements include altering some of the game files and not running the game in full screen mode
Already there is a patch out for the US version, but the rest of us will have to wait :frownblue
PS: Cheers tenebra for making this thread a sticky

Hey tenebra, did you get my last PM?
Is there a UK patch coming?
What will happen if I download the US patch?
I can't try it because I have just ordered the game today and due to being Bank Holiday weekend, it will take ages to get here :frownblue

A very good game (if u like Morrowind size games) but with some bugs.
I run a perfectly servicable game with my rig set to max ingame settings 1024x768 32 2xAA on radeon 9800 pro, athlon 2500 xp-m (o'cd to 2.2gig)
and 1gig corsair matched pair ddr ram, dfi infinity board set to 400 fsb.
Overall an excellent game, a bit choppy on occasion when driving but nothing too sad.
I second the vote to open a complete 'Boiling Point' section, more ppl will chat then!

How can i cheat? :P
cant find any cheats

Kuggar,
Open up the cheat console by pressing Alt+F4
my problem isn't in the framerate, it's in the game taking nearly 1.4GB of memory with the lowest settings or the v.highest, same on both, this causes the game to try to load a lot from swap file and makes it jerky (pausy :)).

Is there a UK patch coming? I don't know
What will happen if I download the US patch? Nothing you just get the patch...so as far as I know you guys could just get the patch from the US. I'm not really familiar with downloading patches from a different country, but as long as it's in english and the same game there should be no prob...
i tried to play a little with game.ini and found a solution for the jerkiness or to be precise "pauses", here u r:
PreloadTextures=0
BackgroundTextureLoad=1
PRECACHETEXTURES=0
these solved it a lot with using "vertex shadows" also, so try and tell us if it works?
The games runs well on my PC, a couple of stutters mainly, going from jungle to city or visa versa.
CPU: 3.06Ghz Intel 512Kb Cache
GPU: Geforce 6800 GT
RAM: 1024Mb PC 2700 (333)

I have all settings on high, grass on 50% and 1280x960
Grass on anything high kills my PC

Yeah, press 'I' to bring up inventory box then if you have two Uzi's for example, drag one on top of another, enjoy.
Also, I think it was the Gamespot forum, apperantly, the French HQ of Atari said the Patch for Europe will be released by the end of next month.
Anyone knows how rise a relations whit indians?I just can´t go on on this game.
I must talk a village elder to continue the game(no any other options).
I tried to talk that chief he tell that white man has betrayed us and he wont help? Is this a bug?

I dunno, I have no idea why theres a patch in the US when it wasn't the first place to be released in :weirdblue . The fact that the www.deep-shadows.com site is dead doesn't help a lot. The fans there where cursing Atari for bringing the game out in that state. The fact that there is not a boiling point forum on this site does adds to the confusion of the relationship between Atari and Deep-Shadows as well as a thorough good reason why the game was released in the first place, it just doesn't add up, somethings wrong :dark:
To your question, no you can't use the US patch if your European

I'm really p****d off with this boiling point joke of a game. Got it 3 days ago and it won't run. Installed no problem but nothing happens on trying to start the thing. Even tried the us patch, though why thats out when the game isn't even released there yet is beyond me.
Yesterday I was being advised to wait for a uk patch on the deep shadows site and now that site is down. I'd just love to have a go at this game but the signs are bad.

What more do you need ffs
It's not your specs, the only thing I can suggest(hardly know anything about PC's) is to press CTRL + ALT +Delete, click on Processes tab and maybe it's already running in disguise in there, end process if you see it and then reload the game. This helped me with Counter Strike once(there were two Steam processes running and CS wouldn't open)
Although, that might be totally useles advice in this case. :lightbulb
Oh, I am so annoyed at this game, cause I play for the Mafia and the government controls most checkpoints so its hard to go anywhere :madred:
And if I try to drive past Checkpoint, the stupid helicopter starts chasing me! And if the helicopter doesn't chase me, sometimes, even though I break that long red and white barrier, the car keeps hitting an invisible barrier and my car gets shot up by the government people. :madred:
Really stupid, so should I start a new game and work for the government or is there a way to avoid the problems listed above?

I've got BP:RTH running ok on my machine,
(AMD 3200+, 512Mb RAM, FX5700 256Mb)
the odd jerk when i re-enter the town, i think mainly coz im goin fast in the car and its trying to load a lot at once, and of course there are many bugs in this game. however, i still keep playing it which must say something for the game itself, as there are many games that i will load, it will run like poo and i will just bin it.
As for the US patch, i installed it a few days ago and the game still runs like it did before.
i've got all options set to low except for res which is 1024x768 (which wouldnt be too bad if i didnt have a 21" monitor :|)
Hopefully Atari will get on top of the other problems and start throwing out patches to solve the problem. does anyone know if there is anywhere to send the crashlog.txt file so the devs can look over them, im sure that good feedback would be essential to creating a decent patch.
Just so you all know, I dont like having to edit posts for swearing.

Argh, site down again. :(
Can anyone tell me how to fix my weapon? To be honest, I haven't researched much :rolleyesa but the gun shop in the 1st town doesn't seem to do it??
Just received my copy today (UK version) and used the US-Patch....seems to work fine, except for one error-message "old file not found. blah, updating anyway..." and the update-progress finishes. so dunno, it updates but with an error, lol, making it more worse/more buggy ?
well.....since its new, i can reinstall it.....but i find it weird, with nearly all games i know/got you can use the US/UK - patches either way !

Well to me, this isn't the best first impression
I would just love to hear the reason from the horses mouth, I mean its not like its going to get a good roasting from the reviewers in the next issue of magazines
hm, played the game for some 30minutes now. the content seems to be cool and might be worth playing it, but hey, the gfx. is very boring.....:/.....can only play with the standard settings, because when trying to change anything in the gfx-settings i cant go back to the main menu or save anything ! its stucked.....only way was RESET to get back control of my pc.
any1 knows of this bug or when it will be fixed ?????
Don't set your hopes high for technical improvements with the patch. They are going to improve bugs such as "Dissapearing Inventory/map screen" "Cars dissapearing after you leave the 200km range" and that's all I've heard of (I think it was in the french site of Atari, some guy translated it)
But don't believe me, just wait until the patch is released.
I will and then I will start a new game because:
The map is messed up. The map when I press 'M' and the thing on the top right corner when I press 'Tab' are both messed. The M screen shows the bottom left corner of the map and I cannot move anywhere else, the location names move but the map doesn't.
The Tab thing just shows the grey "snowy" screen, thet same pattern as the unknown bits of the map.
This has happened to me after I've saved the game in the gun shop. Unless there is a qucik fix to this, I'll guess I'll just wait for the patch and start a new game *sigh* :(
Oh did I mention that I can't save?

Ok thanks for the reply (antena too).
I click the icon for BP and .... nothing happens. There's nothing going on in task manager processes either. I've tried looking in the game CD and the folder in my hard drive - where do I find the install directory ?
Never had this trouble before with any game
i just going to post this here
boilingpoint runs fine on my computer no slow down whats so ever sound sometimes acts up no speach etc
however i cant play it any more as if i look at a object that can be searched my controls freeze and i cant move however the world around me carrys on so i get shot to death etc but when i reappear at the hospital i still cant move i hope this bug is fixed in the upcomming patch otherwise the game is going back to shop.if this bug was fixed the game would be ok however the amount of driving you have to do is a real pain and most missions conflect as you can kill this boss guy like 4 times on different missions and the missions are very samey. how come the jungle is so empty anyway i know off 4 animals in the game 1snakes 2tigers 3bees 4fish and thats it.
i think this game was rushed could have been way better
saving grace is that its not as buggy as farcry :tonguegre
Hey guys
Just bougth the game, but I am having some problems.
My pc is old, so I have the minimum settings for this game. I bought it, cause it said on the bag of the box that it would run in minimum settings. Heres my hardware:
Windows XP - home
Pentium 4 - 2.4 ghz
512 ddr ram
128mb Ati Radeon 9500 PRO
But its laggin like he**, and its not "enjoyable" to play. Ive put it on LOW settings, and every thing is OFF. But its still laggin, plus the colours keeps switching from green and black to the original.
Any suggestions?
I was hoping that my pc would be fast enough...But do I need a new graphic card or??
Is the Ati Radeon 9550 256 mb a good card? Cause it seems rather cheap...
Its specually laggin when im cars... :frownblue

Maybe I am being too lazy to fully read the manual, but is thera way to quickly search a body? I am doing a mission and run out of ammo but get shot while I seach and drag things to my inventory.

Surely this is enough? especially when you consider that we have 994 posts in our "Technical Support" (again just eng) ?
I mean this is more than the total posts for 11 of your 17 "dedicated" games.

We've only seen a handfull here, I'm afraid. It's not like anybody is against having a Boiling Point section :confusedb

Well there are probably only a handfull here because there aren't any forums set up!
If there had been a forum set up ready for the game's release there would have been many people here - i guarantee you! ;)
Just look at this thread - 54 replies - more than some of the dedicated forums on it's own! :)
What do you lose by setting it up? games always benefit from having a good community.

So, another forum will appear soon, if the admins approve.
And what is the game about? Can someone give me a quick over-view of what the game is and what you can do?

From what I've heard you can do pretty much everything.
It scored quite highly in Games Master (the magazine)
But basically as far as I'm aware it involves guns :biggringr
Good enough for me, if only my comp didn't have difficulty running games with HL2's low minimum specs :lolblue:

3d shooter, your daughter has been reprted missing in South America and you go in to find her.
HUGE map to travel around as you please. Play missions for different "gangs" incliding the local police and mafia. Drive cars, boats and helicopters to aid your progress. Earn money and use it for side quests eg. new car or house.
Very like Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, with less car stealing.

Well Deep shadows have said on there site that the new ATI catilyst 5.6 driver will be out soon and that that should fix fps probs apparently. So thats good news for ATI users i think NVidia users will have to wait a while longer. Plus with the first european patch being released hopefully soon we shall have a fully operational program that can then be called a game.

Well Deep shadows have said on there site that the new ATI catilyst 5.6 driver will be out soon and that that should fix fps probs apparently.
I doubt it!
I think they are referring to actual bugs as opposed to anything else - graphical glitches etc.
I've got an ATI card and not had any problems. I get 40+ fps except when driving where it stutters. I think it's purely down to not having enough ram - the faster you move the quicker it has to load.
Unless there is a qucik fix to this, I'll guess I'll just wait for the patch and start a new game *sigh* :(
Oh did I mention that I can't save?
ah, well, my hopes were high, indeed......damned....
my specs., btw.:
P4 3.2
1GB RAM
GeForce 5590Ultra 256MB
SB Audigy 2
WinXP (SP2)
DX 9.0c
newest drivers
so, there has to be done s.th. with the game....pls. ATARI or whomever gets the paycheques.....fix that menu-bug (besides them others, of course !), i really like to change gfx-settings without freezing the pc !

I've been playing boiling point now for about 6 hours and have already witnessed/done the following:
Countless soldiers stuck in rocks/floor/water.
Flying snakes, rats and fish, citizens.
Grenades that double in size as soon as they leave your hand.
Negative money - I purchased an upgrade I couldn't afford, not a problem now I had negative cash, problem was I couln't sell anything any more, apparently I didn't have enough money to sell goods for a profit....
Walking accross the middle of a suspension bridge a jaguar literlly flew out of the jungle and through the air to attack me.
Soldiers driving boats across land untill they get stuck, when i can push the boat (from behind - it still shoots me if i go round the front) anwhere i like - such as into the middle of a enemy controlled town.
I stole papers from a goverment base - nobody saw me do it but EVERY single gov soldier knew I did it and tried to kill me... untill i walked out sight of the base and returned when they accted like they had never met me.
Entered a deserted room (very small, nowhere to hide etc) covered the door waiting for the maifa who were chasing me - one just walked through the wall behind me! I shot him and then went back outside - his friends seemed surprised to see me but acted as if they had never met me.
If I hear one more guy say "oh its the reinforcments" and then ask about "stick a grenade down his throat" i'll scream!
If I leave my car parked on the pavement then when I come back pedestrians are stuck to it! Driving away kills them and makes you an enemy of the people.
A goverment helicopter circling a rebel base - only shooting at me. If I shot back the rebels attacked me, even though I was in thier 'good books'
I convinced a guy not to commit suicide and he told me to go meet him in a bar, I drove there as fast as I could but he still managed to walk there and beat em to the bar, funny thing is he is also still hanging onto the edge of the bridge telling me to meet me in the bar....
3 days ago (in game time) I gave a guy a spare tire so he could fix his car and go home, he is still there and thanks me everytime I go past....
There is an old man fishing from a bridge that has been there since I first arrived, he has not taken a leak, eaten or drunk, moved, or even caught anything for 7 days and I get the feeling he never will....
Buzzing flies or bees that can eat through your body armour!
snakes attacking rocks, trees, the ground etc etc
Already there are many other 'bugs' like these, many more than can be fixed with a simple patch.
also it runs like poo on my pc, which isn't great but is higher than all the minimum specs.
Its a pity - the game has such great potential but as it is I can't believe tehy released it in such a state!

Manofmilk, please don't kill me for my cheekiness - I hear your pain, but your post was absolutely hilarious :lolblue:
If you get a chance, it would be grand if you could post screenshots of the flying rats or you pushing your boat around :lolblue:
I'm gonna hide again. Just for everybody's info, I've emailed the admins as promised, I'll keep you posted.

It used to be a good idea to read the reviews and/or play a demo before buying any game, however this doesn't seem to work anymore.
Its a sad affair for game reviewers, this comes from one of the ones who's opinion I used to respect. All the good ideas in the world can't save this road-accident of a game, and it's obscene that it's been released in its current state. If you buy this you're doing the equivalent of jamming a tube in your mouth and paying someone to pour silage down it. For God's sake, don't encourage them.He then proceded to give the game an overall score of 8/10. :lightbulb

yeah this is the Kieron Gillen (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=59379) review right?
I think you probably missed the point. He reviewed it from 2 perspectives - The 1st as someone who is willing to accept the bugs (9/10) and the 2nd as someone who isn't (3/10). He then concludes with his own personal review, giving it 8/10. For me this is the definitive review of the game.

Has anyone completed this game? Cos i reckon im pretty close to the end, so beware of spoilers if your reading this and havnt finished yet.
After you find lisa in the base in the volcano, then have to go off and blow up eight generator things, where do you get the explosives? Im sure there was something about a stockpile in the cutscene, but i cant remember where it said it was, and i cant find it anywhere...

Sorry that doesn't mean anything to me! :P
Catalyst 5.5 would mean more!
There are apparently some problems with the latest drivers that are meant to be fixed in the next release but i don't know if freezing is one of those problems. By freezing do you mean your whole system locks up and you have to reboot? or just a momentary freeze then it's ok?
There is a troubleshooting FAQ HERE (http://www.deep-shadows.com/fullnews.phtml?id=278) that might be helpful... in fact i should probably post it in this forum!
system not freeze and i dont need to reboot it i set some setups in boiling point to low its working beter maybe may card is to old?
maybe RAM is not enough 512?
ShadowMoses
07-06-2005, 14:44
yeah, ram is definately your major bottleneck... the game really needs a minimum of 1gb - even then it stutters

My computer runs it with almost no stutter at all - and I only have 512mb ram. :)
Here is my computer:
Intel Pentium 4 processor 530 with HT Technology - 3.0ghz, 1MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB (I have no idea what it all means)
512MB Ram PC 3200
160 GB SATA 7200rpm Hard Drive
DVD+RW (Double Lair)
16x DVD-Rom Drive
Card Reader - Smart Media, xD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital, Multimedia Card, Compact Flash 1 & 2, IBM Microdrive
128MB Nvidia Geforce FX 5300 PCI Express
what that suppouse to mean your card much lower then mine  i think could be drivers faulty

The game doesn't stutter for me funnily enough, it just doesn't load. I've been told to shut down rage3dtweak, but I don't have any rage3dtweak on my PC, let alone running in the background.
