Man this game is going to be amsome over 60 character. This game much different from all the other Budokais. With ability to fly at will and such a huge maps there going to be plenty of strategies and ways to attack. It's not going to be just strait forvord fights anymore.

But I do not understand why they did not included IGT(In Game Tranformations). That not make much sense to me.

therea re no transformations dude, thier are only 'choose the form you want to be in before the fight' then you play as that form for the whole match you cannot transform and you cannot de transform if thats a word

Six game modes await you as well character illustrations, clips from the famous series, a more dramatic presentation which includes an enhanced story mode and new character voices, well over 200 Z-Items that can be used to customize your character, and the ability to use all of the fighters from Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 via special password. The lack of online play is disappointing, but there appears to be a lot to love about this fully 3D punch fest, making it a potential must buy for all fans of the classic series.

In-Depth Preview:
For the past few years Atari has been capitalizing on the rabid Dragon Ball Z fan base with a series of Budokai fighting games that, while not being the most technically sound brawlers on the market, are colorful and delightfully entertaining products that award the player with quick results for wildly mashing buttons. Each of them has been designed so all players of varying skill levels can jump right into the action and have a great time, and that philosophy hasn't been lost on Spike, the development team that's busy polishing the fourth iteration in the series, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.


Goku vs. Vegeta... good vs. evil... sort of.Much like its predecessors, Tenkaichi is a one-on-one fighting game where you match wits with a series of different opponents across a variety of exotic locales, the one primary difference being the action is in full 3D. No longer will you be restricted to only moving left, right, or side stepping. You'll actually be able to dash around in the game's rather spacious environments and beat the **** out of other players under the water, on the ground, and even in the air. The proverbial icing on the cake is the destructible environments that feature cars, mountains, trees, buildings, and other obstacles, all of which can be totally obliterated by propelling an opponent at ludicrous speeds in their general direction. Up close you'll be able to dazzle your foes with a myriad of punches and kicks, but through unleashing special attacks or even tossing a few energy blasts their way you can send them flying.

Tenkaichi's second most attractive feature is its retelling of the entire DBZ story, making it one enormous interactive movie/encyclopedia/interactive DVD box set to the stars. This also means that you'll have access to over 90 characters from the series, an unbelievable number by fighting game standards. A large portion of them will likely be different forms of the same person, but that's still a lot of different skins to cycle through. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, Goku, Buu, Trunks, Piccolo, Ginyu, the Androids, the Saiyans, and Frieza. Plus, new voices were recorded for all of the characters and their poly count was upped. They'll even take realistic damage when struck, resulting in their bodies getting scuffed and their clothes deteriorating.

There's also a pretty intriguing customization system. There are well over 200 Z-Items in the game, and these allow you to upgrade your fighter and enhance ten special attributes. But if all of this isn't enough, you can use a special password (which can be found online) that lets you use all of the characters from Budokai 3.

Aside from the insane number of combatants, the game also packs a few gameplay modes of considerable depth. Z Battle Gate is Tenkaichi's Story Mode but it doesn't place you on one set path with the same character. Rather, there's 18 different Battle Gates for 18 separate characters, and each of these is comprised of 10 missions each. Then there's Ultimate Battle Mode, where you enter a tournament of sorts and must fight your way to the number one spot from 100. Certainly, anyone who desires to get the most of these two very attractive modes will be playing Tenkaichi for quite some time.

In addition to that there's also World Tournament, Practice, and Dueling for up to two players. Sadly, the game only comes with a split screen multiplayer mode, and while that's enjoyable to a point because matches can go on for quite some time and feel like these epic contests, online play would have really made an impact within the DBZ community. I'm actually surprised that the powers that be didn't insist upon it, especially since vertically splitting the screen obscures much of the action.


Movie characters finally make it into the series!Gameplay is pretty mindless but that's in no way a bad thing. In fact, Tenkaichi is one of those titles that is great for blowing off steam. Dedicated players will learn its intricacies and will be able to pull off some crazy stuff, but button mashers such as myself can hop right into a match and execute a host of cool offensive maneuvers from just messing around with the DualShock 2. Of course, like in any great fighting game the block button is key, and administering the big hurt simply involves defending against an attack and then immediately exploding upon your opponent, though being the first to the punch, so to speak, is just as important.

Fighting aficionados searching for serious amounts of depth may be disappointed, but that's only if they go into this experience expecting Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. I found that several of the characters had similar moves, making them less unique than Atari will have you believe, but a 25-minute play session doesn't really scratch the game's surface, so more time is needed to determine whether Tenkaichi actually has some meat on its bones. The Z-item and bonus content is certainly there (you can unlock character illustrations as well as clips from the show), but the move lists may not be nearly as interesting.

Personally I think the game's a lot of fun. The cheery and colorful visuals combined with the special effects and wealth of stuff to check out makes it a must play, and the fact that I don't need to break out a strategy guide to understand what the hell's going on is even more appealing, because at the end of the day I don't want to memorize a string of button combinations. I'd just rather, with very little effort, chuck someone through a bus. However, I'm still bummed about the lack of online play. GameDaily will have more on Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi as we near the game's November 15 release date. the text says that we can play with all the characters of budokai 3 wiht a pasword so the omega shenron is in the game

Memory Card is right (in a way).
Each form of a character that's in the game is supposed to be a different character. See the select screens in versus mode to see what i mean.
But i think in battle gate mode you play for example first as Goku (normal) and then you advance him as SSJ4.

the question is... why there are no in-game transformations? thats 1 of the worst things they could done, if not the worst.

for years i was expecting for dragonball to be like BT. since ive played a game called zoe, Zone Of th Enders, i knew that dragonball could be like that. and here it is mdr1 !!!! but when i was searching for information i found that the in-game transformations had been taken out. it was like a sword in my back. they put all the things it was needing and had taken the best part of db budokai, or 1 of them. :noooo:

in my opinion:
they could just put something in options menu of the game to choose between in-game transformations and select character forms.
if they can create al these player, why dont have some kind of link too, between the characters and their advanced form charaters, changing their attacks and physical design, well something like: changing a charater for other character in-game, but the other character is his transformation form. well, of course can exist the prob of the cd cant old much more information, but i dont think so.

Dragon ball z legends has everything to do with this game ryo even told me a while back from the destructable environments, flying were ever you want, all of the characters and the controls. actually zone of the enders was the first game for ps2 to have this kind of gameplay! flying were ever u want, destroy all buildings and montains, of course there much more things in this db btenkaichi that are a lot better, like fighing with bodys and special moves, etc... thats 1 of the things i love in this game. but i've been thinking about it, and i'm gonna buy it, with in-game transformations or not. =)

Man this game is going to be amsome over 60 character. This game much different from all the other Budokais. With ability to fly at will and such a huge maps there going to be plenty of strategies and ways to attack. It's not going to be just strait forvord fights anymore.

But I do not understand why they did not included IGT(In Game Tranformations). That not make much sense to me.

lolblue: In DBZ B3 you can also fly at will. If you hold the up directional button while dashing backwards, you'll take to the skies!
