Dear All

Recently purchased Boiling Point and I'm very early into the game (Basically done the first three Goverment missions and nothing else) spoke to most the people I can and still plenty to do so the game is shaping up nicely yet I've a couple of questions I could do with some help on

1) I'm trying to get a better understanding on how the game works, factions, relationships etc and the manual keeps refering to something called "The Poster" - what is this? Should it have come with my game, is it IN the game somwehere?

2) After three missions for the goverment, they like me yet I'm enemies with the Mafia and Bandits, all I've done so far is take out Bandits so why do the Mafia not like me? I guess I'm right in saying that If I stroll up to the Bandit leader now he will no doubt blow my head off so how do you get these people on side? Do you have to do missions for other people to balance out who likes you and who doesn't? Any way of knowing which missions help your relationship with certain factions or is it just guess work?

Apoloiges if it's a bit long winded but all help and guidance would be appreciated

Cheers

Cuzer

I can help with the first question - yes, the 'poster' is the map sheet that comes with the game. It folds up like a real map. On the back of the map (which bears very little resemblence to the map in the actual game, I've found!), there are 'pages' of info about the factions, equipment, weapons, vehicles etc., with the default control keys. Just like a tourist map.

As to the second question, I'm in the same quandary and would appreciate an answer as well. I started again in fact, this time following a slightly different route from the army quests - and have tackled the first few police, CIA and Indian 'quests' instead. Heck, you only (only?) have to hit someone whilst driving for the rating with their faction to go down, it seems - and it can be easy to hit people when driving fast past a gun battle across the road.

I find it strange at the moment that it is desperately hard to make stacks of money - when the game peolple seem to be asking for a small fortune for everything or anything ... its as much as I can do to keep the car working, and me armed adequately for the battles.

I've come to the conclusion, wrongly perhaps, that I'm going to be a deadly enemy of mafia and bandits, throughout. I've kept in good stead with the Guerillas, so far, but now two 'quests' want me to upset that relationship, so I'm not too sure about keeping on their good side for much longer.

And I can't find a bank ... I'm sure there must be one ... (maybe a little robbery?? :rolleyesa )

Thanks for the help with the poster, I'll give the shop a call and see if they can post me one out, knew something was wrong there somewhere

I'm sure some of the "seasoned pro's" can help you, and me, with my 2nd question and yours, I naturally don't want to start again so It will be interesting to what the rest of them say.

There is a bank, in the first town that the game starts in, I haven't personally been in yet, not sure if you can rob it, I know from reading on here you can donate money to bump up your rating with the civillians

Looking forward to some more feedback, cheers

Its a natural responce by the mafia and bandits that they start hating you the more the police like you, they don't want to associate with a police informer.

In the same way, I have been doing missions for the Mafia and have a good rating with the Bandits even though I have never spoken to them. they just know my reputation for law breaking and so feel they would like to know me.

The CIA and Indians are neutral for the main part unless you directly attack or work work for them.

As for the bank, its for donating money and chatting up the clerk only as far as i can tell. You cannot pull out weapons inside the bank it would appear.

Hmm. The mafia won't even give me the time of day now - shoot on sight. And I'm supposed to visit one that's just over the bridge - never get near to him even. Too late for me to butter them up, I guess. Never miond.

And the Bank ... now I'm intrigued as to where it is - I haven't spotted it yet, though I have found many other places (and a hacker ... guess he'll come into the story when he's stopped being 'busy right now...'.

the bank is west of the motel, about 20 feet away - you can't miss it.

I guess this is the right topic to post this in:
SPOILERS!!(Very early so proabably not really a spoiler)

After the Editor get shot, I want to ask the government guys at the exit of the city but my relationship is horrible with them so to patch thing up, I visited the commander in the bar and after getting drunk, he said "Visit the base, and I'll tell my boys so they won't shoot you" or something along those lines but when I go to the base,a t the gate they shout "You, show your face!" and then only option I have is to either run through the gate or "Fraud" (which NEVER works) so I am wondering if there is anything I can do?

PS: No help needed on the mission, this post is basically about patching things up with the government.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated

I've located my "Poster" from Gamestation!

Just to confirm them, if I've now got Enemy against Mafia and Bandit's its impossible to do any missions for these guys until I've changed this rating? Answer me that, and I think that I'm done! :)

Thanks again

Relations is a very good thing :)

If you want to get the government, cia, civilians, gurilleas to like you, you should go on a killing spree of the mafia or/and bandits. The government relation change here is most significant. The gurilleas next. But the civilians and the cia, although they like you killing mafia and bandits. The relation change is small.

If you would rather not kill them to improve the other relations. But want to keep on good sides for all. Then its pratically not possible. You need to choose alignment with some, and enemy with the others.

But for a quick fix. In the bar in both towns. You can find a guy working for the mafia, and you can give him money and it will improve your relations with them.

Also, if you visit the prison, you can break out any factions man and get relation points for that too. If i remember right, when you approach a mafia or bandit there who are currently enemies. You select the option to break them out because you want to make amends.

I played the whole game with only the mafia and bandits as enemies. If i had a mission that wanted me to go against someone i was friends with, i would do it but very carefully. For example if you have to steal something, I would take the item and run. Dont kill anyone as each kill hurts relations.

If i had a mission that wanted me to destroy something of a friends. Then i would destroy it from a distance. And the faction wouldnt get involved much as i didnt kill their men.

A good golden rule though. If you go to a place where you are friends. And do something to make them enemy you. If you want to remain friends. Get what you came for - stealing a item, or vehicle. Then run with it and complete the mission. Once the mission is complete, if you are still positive terms with them, you will find that if you go back to the place they are no longer shooting at you.

Example - Gurellia mission to steal a government helicopter. I went in, got straight in the chopper without killing anyone. Flew it straight to the gurilleas. Completed the mission. Checked my relations with the government. Still positive. I drove straight back to that base i just stole from. And they didnt remember at all.

If you do a mission against a friend but by doing it you make them an ememy. If you want them to be a friend again. Firstly keep the killing down, and secondly to make them a buddy again. Go on a killing spree of the mafia or bandits or whoever, and your relations will become good again.

A comment about driving. If you run someone over, it will only effect your relations if you actually kill them. And if you happen to drive over someone and kill them. As long as your relations are still positive dont worry about it. As soon as you leave the area its all forgotten about.

You are only an EMEMY in that location. If you leave. Its all good ;) (as long as positive still)

Hope some of that helps :)
