View Full Version : Game refuses to start
Hello i have just boyught act of war and, after the installation has completed, without any error messages, the game will not start. When i click o the icon on the desktop or in the start menu the spinning CD icon shos and then nothing happens. I have taken the game back to the shops and got a replacement cd and still the same thing is happening. I am running the fiollowing system:
Windows XP home
AMD Athlon 64 3200+,
1Gb DDR RAM,
GeForce FX 5600 Ultra (128Mb),
What is wrong with the game? is it the system or has the installation gone wrong?
has anyone else experienced this?
Sounds like the DVD's/game's own copy protection could be the reason. There're several guides on the internet to solve this type of problem but I would say that you better stick to this forum's threads concerning this.
First, install the latest patch (you'll find it here (ftp://ftp.atari.com/patches/aow/ActOfWar_DirectAction_Patch3.exe)) and then we'll see.
If the error keeps existing read the threads Disc Error (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=7500), Securom-EXE (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=8208) and Error after Patching (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=7522); also important: the FAQ (http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=455721)
Since you've got an Athlon 64, read these please: Problems with Athlon 64 (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=7521) and Athlon 64 + WinXP (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=6255)
If you also experience graphic bugs, stick to that (http://www.uk.atari.com/third_party/forum/showthread.php?t=7520).
Please read them carefully, there are plenty of people having problems with the game and we can't serve everyone individually. :yum:
