I tried to launch first game, then it started to ask for disc into all my drives, including harddrives, giving name /harddrive/D .. etc.
Anyway, I have amd64 and that protection system on it, so I had to list act of wars to be not included onto this protection.
It didn't launch after that either, but it didn't ask from me anymore to insert disc into drive.
I only saw quick flash of act of war splash screen (loading logo) on screen and then I was back to desktop (it never initialized screenmode).
Solution was quite simple for me. I have two graphic cards in my machine and 3 screens. So I had to disable other screens by clicking on desktop and selecting to not extend my desktop on these other screens. and vola! then it worked just perfectly.
I've had so much trouble in past with atari games and this just proves it again, don't buy atari games. Temple of evil was last time one misery.
Anyway, hopefully this helps someone.
