I arrived today from vacations and I noticed that all the forums have a picture that is saying: "Forum Closed for Posting". Probably someone mixed up the pictures, because I see posts in the forums, so try to fix it. Not an urgent thing... :atari: :atari:

The avatars are fine, but I suggest you don't change it, unless you want to risk it going missing (like the last time the style changed).

Also it isn't Tenebras fault, I assume that the Administrators ideas are final, and Tenebra couldn't have stopped them doing it if they wanted to.

Anyway remember the outrage the last time the style changed? Well everyone soon got used to that, and I'm sure a similar thing will happen here. ;)

Well, if you count for the date "January 2002" it's more then 3.5 years. Now, this date is from when they changed the forums (an huge update that required the forum to be offline at least one month), I remember you modding already in the old forum, so it's much more than 3.5 years... :wink2:

Well, if it's an IP ban I think that it doesn't work totally fine. For example, since my ISP gives me an floating IP (that means that if I disconnect now and reconnect 5 seconds later I'll have a different IP) probably banning one IP doesn't affect the other, right? Tenebra, Fluxx, 2pots, can you confirm that?

With an IP ban you can't access the website at all. Static IP's are very easy to ban, variable IP's obviously vary, hence they're a nightmare. There is, however, the possibility to contact the Service Provider and report internet misuse.

We don't ban IP's very lightly at all though, only in really serious situations. I think we've only had one or two IP bans since I've been around.

For example, if you use a file share program and type the correct keyword you may find the IP adresses of those who have child abuse photos, videos etc... So why the ISP doesn't ban them (you may say that some of them have a fake IP...), report them to the police and arrest those *********.

Pyrostek, unfortunately there was another Pyros, as you suspected. The Admins guaranteed that all users affected by the non unique username problem have been notified. Have you checked your spam filters? Maybe Atari's email address is percieved as spam and the email was not delivered to your inbox. To avoid this in the future, you should add Atari's email address to your address book.

My inbox does not have a spam filter, and I was able to recieve the email from when I originally registered my Pyros account on the UK forums, and when I registered this account. In addition, I have corresponded with employees at the Lyon office within the last month, so I know that Atari's emails have been getting though to me. I do not believe the email was sent, because there is no possible reason that my account would have stopped it.

*mumble mumble* I'm quite confident the email had been sent, Pyrostek. I can't see a reason why it shouldn't have, since lots of people have received it and this is producing more work.
Personal addresses might not get blocked, but addresses like "administrator@xxxx.com" often are. I'll think about the possible reasons, in the meantime I'd suggest you add the address to your address book.

I can promise you that every email from an Atari domain gets through to me. As a previous moderator of the official US forums, I kept in contact with several employees of Atari, and as such, know that there is no filter or setting that would prevent me from recieving emails from them. In addition, my email is hosted on my site, and therefore, I configure the email program's settings, so it was not blacklisted or rejected, or else it would have still ended up in my email admininstrator account.

I don't work for Atari, hence I can't check the bounce backs. I'll bring that up with the Administrators and ask them to check. I've been informed of the procedures they used for this exercise and they were text book quality.

For the 1 000 000 time: users that didnt log in after 1st June and where not really active have been removed from the old UK forum.
Your user was one of them, that explain why Pyros is not in the DB now and he is not in the saved DB (saved just before the merge).
