Looks like the game is crashing for me on launch, just gets past the language screen and then onto analysing system specs, and there it crashes, with a list of hex addresses listed.. anyone else experiencing this problem? I've sent a note to tech support.
Whats your system spec? :mefiant:

Hey,
Thanks for responding. :)
My system specs are listed here: http://www.vaio-link.com/common/specs.asp?L=uk&H=yes&ID=1398
Only change from those listed in that link is that I have upgraded my RAM to 1024MB.
I did disable my anti-virus, firewall and any unnecessary background applications, yet the crash still occurs.

If you get it sorted out, could you post how to stop it up here? I've found that it happens every so often to my game when I continue from where I finished. But then, it's always a joy when I actually get the game to start.
"Please insert original DVD" ahoy!*
Damn good game, though.
*I spent 45 minutes trying to play this morning and then when it actually started up without the "Original DVD" thing, it crashed. Joy.

Do you guys know how to use "Event Viewer"? Look it up in Windows Help, and then look at the "Using Event Viewer" section. Event viewer is really handy for finding hardware and application errors - post the messages here if you can't make sense of them :)

Nothing is there in the event viewer. Just tried to play there and there are no events newer than two hours ago.
If you want anything to look at, have a peek at the error message I get:

I get something just like that message, only sometimes though - other times it just comes up with a windows crash error report dialog.. :( Too bad, I was really looking forward to playing this game.
I have exactly the same problem. FMV runs fine, I get as far as hardware autodetect, which detects everything correctly, then the game crashes with the same Call Stack / Buffer Overflow C++ error as TheCastrator.
My system runs other games just fine. The FEAR demo plays flawlessly, as does FarCry and Doom3.
My hardware specs:
AMD64 3400
2GB Ram
WinXP Professional, fully up to date
Nvidia 6800 GT (driver revision 77)
Nforce 3 chipset
SB Audigy
Kinda unhappy that the game doesn't even get as far as the menu. :noooo:
I'm also getting this problem every time I attempt to play, logo movies play (and the language detect/system detect on first run) and then it just crashes. Sometimes the call stack window and sometimes just a 'Buffer overflow' error message. I loved the demo and really want to play this... :noooo:
AMD 2800+ Barton
1GB Ram
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Ult (5.8 Cats)
Windows XP Pro (fully patched)
Onboard nVidia nForce2 Audio
MSI MS-6570 Mobo

What I'm doing for now is just choosing the "ignore" option when the error message appears, and the game continues. I have had it crash once in-game - rendering my computer completely non-responsive. Not sure what that was about...
I've tried ignore about a dozen times now, it's not worked once for me. :noooo:
When I do ignore the first boot config screen comes up again (in french) and then it crashes with a buffer overflow error after it's done.
I wonder if its an XP-pro conflict? :mefiant:
Ignore doesn't work for me either.

I'm trying to get some ongoing technical support in the forum, but for the time being please email uk.helpline@atari.com for major technical problems.
I'll keep you posted of any developments.

Please check Tips to solve technical problems (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?p=579196#post579196)
I'll try the things that you've listed - but I'm starting to think this is nvidia chipset related.
My system is usually pretty stable - however, I've submitted a case to tech support.
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks tenebra.
I did contact tech support via the web form (no reply yet), is that the same as emailing uk.helpline or should I try that too?

I'm not sure, it's probably worth trying the email address (I've tried it myself to see the response speed and got a reply in less than 24 hours  ).
Have you tried following the tips in the other thread? They come directly from the helpdesk after reading the problems you guys have reported. Try them first, please, as you're likely to receive those recommendations. If you've already done it and still no result, it'll be worth specifying in your email that you have already tried those tips (and add a link to the tips thread for their quick reference) but you're still having xxx problems. :)
I've fixed the problem.
I had CursorXP (by Stardock) installed. If I disable it, the game runs fine.
I thought you all might like to know.

Another player has had good results from installing the latest chipset drivers for VIA (quite a common manufacturer). The latest Hyperion 4 in 1 drivers apparently allow the game to run. :)
If you've got a motherboard that uses VIA chips, besure to check this out, I suspect its an audio issue weirdblue

hax85: re-install the game first. Should fix the profile problem.
