1. Check if your graphics card supports hardware T&L.
2. Make sure of is that none of the hardware is overclocked.
3. Make sure you have nothing running in the background and you don't have things like Demon tools or general debugging software running.
Some general checks:
Try uninstalling the game and deleting the folder left behind then
reinstalling the game to replace any missing or corrupt files.
Try reducing the acceleration on the sound card in DXDIAG. Go to start
run and type in DXDIAG then click OK then the sound option. Reduce the
acceleration to basic then close DXDiag and restart your computer.
Update your video card drivers. First determine what type of video card
you have. To do this:
>Click Start
>Click Run
>In the box type DXDIAG. Click OK. This will bring up the DirectX
Diagnostic
Tool
<When the tool finishes loading, click the Display tab.
In the Device section, next to Name is the name of your video card. You
may want to write this down. The Manufacturer is the company that
manufactured your video card. Visit the corresponding manufacturer's website for the latest driver set. Please read all the information on the website carefully.
If you are unsure about this you should contact you PC manufacture for
support.
Remove any game peripherals from the control panel in windows
If you have another CD ROM/DVD drive try it in there.
Try clearing out your Windows temp folder. (C:\windows\temp)
Try using MSCONFIG
Click Start, select 'run
In the 'run' field type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) and click
OK
When the System Configuration Utility window, appear put a dot next to
the 'Selective Startup' option.
At the bottom of the same screen, take the tick out of 'Load Startup
Group
Items'
Click OK and you will be prompted to restart you computer.
Once the computer has restarted go into the game again and the problem
should be resolved.
The utility 'msconfig' starts the pc with nothing running in the
background
at all other than 'Explorer'. This should prevent any background
applications conflicting with the game, but you should not attempt
anything
else on your computer apart from our software without resetting the
option
to Normal.
