View Full Version : Farenheit on Win X64

I have the new 64bit windows installed on my computer and Fahrenheit doesn't even install; it just starts installing and then immediately says that the installation has been interrupted. I read somewhere that this is because the installation file is looking for a installation of the 32bit version of Direct X and when it can't find it there's an error so it stops.

I was wondering if there is/will be something that gets around this.

Thanks

jt

There will most likely be a patch in the next few weeks, to address any issues ......... :respect:

I have the same exact problem and I would like a fix or work-around. Both the demo and game disc fail to install! I even tried manually copying the directory tree from the installation disc but the game refuses to run (I can only assume it is due to missing registry data).

At the very least this issue deserves an official response with some sort of estimated resolution date. The requirements state that the software is compatible with Windows XP.

Moggie, it's a known issue that no one can install Fahrenheit on Windows XP x64 Edition without a modified "Fahrenheit.msi" installer to bypass DirectX detection (requiring you to then modify the registry by hand to change the source location). Luckily, I managed to do this last night after several more hours of working on it.

Note that it doesn't matter if you have an AMD64 processor. The problem is strictly an incompatiblity with the x64 edition of the XP operating system.

I found the MSI file but there are no instructions on using it, or on registry edits needed - any clues?

I've got the game already installed (and half-played) in my Windows 2000 partition and should be able to just edit the registry to pick up the old install, but although I exported the registry in Windows 2000 before changing motherboards I cant find fahrenheit in the export file?
Same trick worked for MaxPayne 2.

Cheers,
Keith

Hi. I have this problem too. Is there a patch for this yet?

You have to copy the whole DVD to your hard-drive, then overwrite the MSI file with the one downloaded from http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=11930

after installing from the hard-drive you can delete the files copied off the DVD
