I already was having a problem with this game when I had to reinstall when I was having a problem just getting into the game. I finally started playing it and saved my game, but when I try to start it up now it gives me the message "Buffer overrun detected".

I have a P4-2.4, 1G of DDR-3200 RAM, RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB Video Card, 60G 7200 RPM Hard Drive, running Windows XP Pro SP2 with DirectX 9.0c. I usually start my game after a fresh reboot with my virus scanners disabled. I just cant understand why it stopped working when I made no changes or installed any new software. madred: Anyone?

Do you have CursorXP running? If so this should sort things for you:

Firstly, disable CursorXP (or like me you may have to uninstall it for the time being and reboot). Then launch Fahrenheit and you'll find you still get a windows error sound after the movie and a black screen (shouldn't get a Buffer Overflow error though. Hit I (for ignore in the quantic dream tools window you can't see) and the initial boot config screen should come up in French and then the game will load. Create a new login then pop into Options -> Languages and switch back to English.

You'll need to do the I for ignore each time you load it and it'll run the initial boot config in french each time but once you select your profile it's in English again and at least it'll let you play the game until there's a patch for this.

Hmmm....

Buffer overrun is an error I've not seen reported before... If anyone else has had this, please post eekblue:

Tom, please check out the 'Tips to resolve Technical problems (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=30424)' Thread, and or "Game crash on start (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=30331)".

Or, if none of this applies, try mailing uk.helpline@atari.com, there's some helpful guys there who tend to reply fairly promptly (within 24 hours)

Have you got a VIA chipset based MotherBoard, and if so, are you on the latest Hyperion 4in1 drivers ?? :mefiant:

Have you done everything in the suggested solutions thread? Especially the msconfig selective boot, that's what got things working for me initially.

Oh, and I'm using an nForce2 chipset board too.

Yes, I tried the diagnose option, disabled everything, e it continues to get BUFFER OVERRUN! Did you have the same problem? I already sent a email to the support, just have to know how many days they will leave to answer! :(

I didn't use diagnostic startup, used selective with startup items disabled.

I sent a tech support request via the web form on the 16th and a mail to uk.helpline as suggested on the 20th, not had a reply to either yet.
