Well, I finally got my hands on Fahrenheit and I basically played it non-stop yesterday. It is a very addictive and overall entertaining game. That said, I wanted to do something with it. I have been playing around with VB lately and I decided to make a little program with it for Fahrenheit. So thus, I decided to create the "Fahrenheit Launcher".

This program is a nifty little program which you can replace the desktop shortcut with. You can launch the game from it but it also contains a wealth of information too. I intend to have guides in this program, walkthroughs, general game information. Also, one of the selling points IMO, is the chat. I want to make a chat anyone with the launcher can enter. Why? Stuck somewhere in the game but dont feel like finding the site, logging into a forum, making a post and waiting for an answer? Well, I figure, you can just click chat, go into the chat and just chat away with any questions, comments or just plain old fun.

The launcher also contains a little news area that is often added to with the latest Fahrenheit news (updated by yours truly of course), so you can see it whenever you want to play the game!

Here is the layout of the program so far. There are many placeholders at the moment where I want stuff to be, and what is soon to come.

The program is expected to be in the place of the game on your desktop shortcut, this way you get all the information/news you need before playing the game, every time. ;)

Why am I posting something that isnt done yet? Simple, I want peoples opinions before I go through all of this. I suspect most of the longer stuff (guides, walkthroughs) will take a while, so they will come in future versions.

I want your opinions though. Will you use this? What kinds of features would you be interested in seeing in this? Something wrong with the layout? Is this just a stupid idea to begin with and should I just forget about it?

Will you use this?
I definately would use it, if it were released.

What kinds of features would you be interested in seeing in this?
Personally I don't know what more you could add... maybe a graphical fahrenheit guide?

Something wrong with the layout?
Simple as it needs to be.

Is this just a stupid idea to begin with and should I just forget about it?
It is not a stupid idea, yet I would suggest you forget about it, for a few reasons:

- Do you really want to make it THAT easy for people to ask for solutions to the game's puzzles? I admit, it would be good for people that really need help, but I think most would be lazy and ask for many solutions.

- This game does not have mod support (why release a software development kit for a movie?) and so I'm sure it will quickly be forgotten. Personally, I know I will play far too many hours of this game, but I know many others who will complete it, perhaps visit it again, then will forget about it.A

- Fahrenheit News, although I would love such a feature, would eventually become pointless. First of all, it is only single player, so players will eventually forget about it. Also, I believe that this game may receive ONE patch, if any... and we're not even sure if there is going to be a sequel, seeing as they already have two more projects in their planning phases. I think it's a safe bet to say they're not going to be making a Fahrenheit 2 any time soon.

:) Fair enough, and to be honest due to the 1 post after several days, I wasn't really interested in progressing with it much.

However it is somewhat nice to see interest in the tool itself, even if Fahrenheit isn't the most appropriate game for it. I have considered problems you have mentioned about the news and guide laziness, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to post here before actually putting the work/time into it.

Thanks for your honesty. :)

I do believe that you are a big fan of this game "so we are too" and for this reason you thought about your program/project...

Even if it's useless, somebody "like me" should Thank yoU for sharing your idea with us! :)
