View Full Version : A masterpiece ?
One of the best games ever ! I won't take any detours, it's near perfection. A good sreenplay, good characters, a good atmosphere. I mean, it's one of the only games that when you play it you feel as exhausted as the character, physically and emotionally. Even if some of the sets aren't perfect (one or two details don't make real at the backgrown or the curves aren't always smooth) the atomsphere is there : love, exitation, danger, stress, sadness, despair, hope. All of this melted with a hard winter, some charismatic characters, a great soundtrack, a restless gameplay and an evoluting hero taking all the story along with him. And even when you think "Aren't they going too far with this or that" you see that everything makes sense and goes perfectly well. And you understand during the game experience that you could know even more about the meaning of certain elements and that this game is filled with details making it really interesting and playable several times. Bravo to Mr David Cage and his Quantic Dream team for this film/game. A real masterpiece of the video game's world to put side by side with Half-Life, Warcraft or even Final Fantasy.

i am enjoying it but "best game ever....????" i'll reserve judgement...... weirdblue
Don't get me wrong it's ONE of the best, in the middle of 10 or 20 other games. I say that because this game refreshs the genre : limited time to answer, pressing buttons during the action, multiple possibilities in the story. Only few video games could say "I'm a movie, take part in the story and play me" and that's (for me) a really good quality, combined with an interesting story. Exept for Metal Gear : Snake Eater, I don't remember another game using the "movie" experience like this one.
There are some brilliant things in this game, like the way you control your moves with the mouse. Especially when you do things like mob or play with your yoyo :).
The action scenes don't get top graden even though is it a great way to make them more exciting.
But why i think the game is a masterpiece is really the story and the deept of the characters. The story just pulls you in and traps you in the game and the characters completes the story making the experience a complete and solid one. It also really helps you to connect with Lucas, Carla and Tyler putting you in their shoes. 10sur10
I hate, follow the colors, button mashing, it's really turning me off this game.
Too bad what a waste:mad:
As i read the other threads, I agreed on some points. It's true that even if the matrix-like scene on the roofs matches with the game, the "yellow-scary-A.I.-in pieces" character could have been improved. And it does seem that the game comes to an end too qwickly : the love scene at the end may seem strange, the role of the homeless isn't clear, and the final scene in the wharehouse is a little rushed to an end. It's true that the end is very important to appreciate a game. Disappointing ?

I agree...
The end seems kind of, fast. I mean, after all that she just shoots the oracle and hes dead. It's like, ok. The whole time I expected him to get up and do something, but nope. The end...
And the love scenes near the end confused me. Like a few days ago she hated Lucas blood and wanted to lock him up, then suddenly she loves him? Interesting.
"Your lips are like ice..." Naturally thats the sign to do the nasty. rolleyesa
Yes the Love scene and the Final bad guy suck making it like a typical Hollywood movie from the 80's
and did not fit with the brilliant scenario from the start of the game
Well i enjoyed the game but i do not see any reason to play it again(especially near the end)
#0 agree 100%... David Cage, you are damn good and your team... THX
The Best Game i have ever played!!!!
what i love about this game is the story, it's just an amazing one
the atmosphere, the sound effects, the music, the mood, + some cool action scene.
I also love being the character, kind of puts you in another point of view and makes you really walk his shoes and feel his emotions.(and playing both lucas and carla and tyler was a magnificent idea, how they see the murder so differently)
But the gameplay was less of an award winner to me, it was pretty simple and kept low key, and since i'm good at those flashing color button, i can pretty much focus on the action sequences.
so it's not as "fun" as other games, but i loved playing it, like when i read a captivating novel or watch a good thriller drama (that are getting quite rare these years)
and it surpasses other games in many areas. In my opinion, it's unique
I agree this game deserves to get a lot of attention.
It's got a few key elements that make the game stand out....
Personally, what i liked, was the fact that i didn't get so far in the game and then get stuck on a ridiculously hard level that i couldn't figure.
By that time,i was so immersed in the characters and the whole movie feel,i just wanted to see more and more!!!!
Another key element to making the game so enjoyable was the simplicity of the control system...and the ingenious implementation that worked really well.
The worst part of the game is trying to explain it to people, because it's nothing like any other game i've played before....so in my eyes it's definately very original, with a very high quality production to top it off.
There's probably more praise i could heap on it too,but these key elements are what made the game so good for me personally,
It's a game that i recommend to anyone who's looking for an enjoyable, original and captivating experience.
So,in my book,a classic,definately.
