A Massive Disappointment [Spoilers]

Up until three quarters of the way through the game, I considered Fahrenheit to be an absolute masterpiece. The characters were believable, the setting immersive and the game mechanics themselves flowed extremely well. And then came the plot.

Having only finished the game about half an hour ago, I am trying to restrain my frustration. Fahrenheit had so much story potential, yet I consider it to be ruined. The first three quarters of the game focused on "human" characters who you could relate to. Their relationships and actions were believable. We played an average set of people, who would react to extraordinary situations as average people would. Yet, this is suddenly replaced with a super-human, kung-fu, undead monk with virtually no personality, and the lead female declaring her love for him after knowing him for about 10 minutes. The Mayan/supernatural side of things I quite enjoyed; indeed, it was rather original. But artificial intelligence? Where did that come from?

Yes, I am extremely disappointed. Fahrenheit could have been an education to the rest of the games industry on how to do things right; to focus on plot and immersion over graphical bells and whistles, or a clone of an earlier successful game. Unfortunately, I fear this is another attempt which will be resigned to the scrap heap, thanks to an apparant lack of common sense regarding the plot's closing quarter.

I welcome any arguments to the contrary. I am trying hard to like Fahrenheit, I really am. I want to believe the game industry has hope left in it.

To the development team- You are on to something really good here. I honestly hope you will consider a sequel; minus the absurd storyline.

the fact that Carla falls in love with Lucas is believable IMO.
#1 She had been obsessing over the guy the entire investigation and she always suspected that he may have been innocent.
#2 They were obviously both desperate and lonely.
#3 The end of the world was possibly the next day.

Them falling in love didn't bother me. What did bother me was the love scene involving a dead Lucas and Carla. That's a little disturbing IMO. :wink2:

Also, the AI's didn't just come out of nowhere. They were always there. Remember the scenes at Lucas's work? glowing ants and beetles? I knew all along that there was something else going on. The bugs at the bank didn't really fit with the Oracle/Mayan theme at all.

That being said... i still think the ending was a major let down. the battle on the roof over the girl was sweet, but the end hangar scene was weak for sure. The ending keeps this one from being a masterpiece .

The end hangar scene actually has 5-6 different variations to it in total, so you might have gotten one of the less good ones.

yup. I had 3 different scenes in the hanger.

1: Lucas fights the AI (and the soldiers)
2: Lucas fights the Oracle (who captured Carla and put a gun to her head)
3: Lucas fights them both

2 and 3 i played when i gave away the indigo child (Jade) to the fake Agatha (AI)

i had the one where you do 2 strength tests against the AI and he blows up. no soldiers. the whole hangar scene took about 30 seconds

okay ive done this game over and over in about 3 days so heres EVER possible situation oky

1.When you keep jade instead of giveing her to agatha-ai)
you kill the oracle and kill the solider plus kill the AI. you get the bunny version lucas is a kinda god and everything is perfect

you kill the oracle lose to killing the guards then the AI comes kills guards and then if you lose to him you get horrible undergoud ending

if you lose to oracle then you go to conrtoling carla she gets gun of of solider then kills oracle then same as above if you kill the soliders the AI just apperas if you fail ot kill the soliders then the AI will come and kill them then fight you(but if you fail to kill the oracle you get noral ending carala and lucas in an apertment)

2.when you give jade away

if you defat the AI and the oracle bunny ending

if you defate the AI but then either choose to give the kid to the oracle or just lose to him you get normal ending with you and carla living normal lives)


if you lose to AI it and the oracle have a battle then you control carla cant rember what she does but its the same veriantions

isn't there an ending where you are sitting alone on frozen earth forever (unable to die cuz you are already dead)?
I can't seem to figure that one out, but the little chapter icon seems to indicate that it's possible.

i dont think so man if someone finds out how to do it tho let me know cuz so far ive done everthing imagianable i cant see how you can do it unless theres someway to get carla killed or make her hate you one of the 2

Fight the oracle and win

Fight the soldiers and win

The AI apears and ask for the child Refuse

Battle against the AI. (MAX out the physical meter)

now this is what happens you overpower your body thus the AI blast you down with your own built up strength(really weird scene IMO)

and AI gets Indigo child thus you have the ICE cold ending... where Carla is pregnant and in here woom a new indigo child is growing weirdblue

ah wel that was the very first ending I've ever goth :p kinda funny if you ask me :) but stil never new you could overpower an attack its only in that instance that you can do that nowhere in the game its possible and there it is...


ah wel i found out fixing the radio made a bit of difference. I couldn make him overpower even if I did the rest exactly the same 10sur10 hehe kinda though that whas a nice though just found it out a fwe mins ago :)

thats the **** ending im talking about when your back underground but as for the AI asking for the indigo child good call im off to do that now.lol
