View Full Version : [PC] Solving the resolution issue
This message is to inform you of the steps to follow to resolve the resolution issue you may encounter with the PC version of The Matrix : Path of Neo™, which will be fixed in a patch available soon.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Issue:
Impossible to change the video options in game. As the matrixconfig.ini file cannot be modified (Read Only file), any change in the video options menu won’t be applied.
Solution:
If you are having problems changing either the Resolution or the Render Detail in the game Matrix Path of Neo please do the following:
For experienced users please browse to C:\Program Files\Atari\The Matrix - Path of Neo
If you cannot locate the folder please follow the instructions below:
Left Click on the Windows Start Button
Left Click on My Computer
Double Left Click on the C: drive (Please note this may also have a title such as Local disk C: )
Double Left Click on the Programs File Folder
Double Left Click on the Atari Folder
Double Left Click on the The Matrix - Path of Neo Folder
Look for the file called MatrixConfig or MatrixConfig.INI
Right Click and choose properties
Un-tick the box that says Read Only
Click apply
Now restart the game and change the Brightness, Rendering Detail and Resolution accordingly.

I had this issue, so changed the file then had the abillity to change the resolution detail etc. At first I was thrown off because usually when a resolution is changed it changes straight away but for me I think it only took effect in-game not in the menu's
One issue I did have after changing the detail and such was the complete inabillity to play the game, lots of textures and parts were missing, the first sequence with neo at his desk were all green and when you first fight the police guards in the hallway was pitch black just sounds and movement. I was wondering if the patch solves this?
To me this is quite a poor start to a game I was looking forward to, makes me wonder what other suprises I'm going to encounter, if I ever get it to run properly.

Which makes me think it has something to do with yours and your friends set up. Don't get me wrong I know this game has issues that need addressing, it just seems to be acting differently with different machines.
I find it funny how the yanks came here claiming their forum was better, then they get the patch early only for it to stop the game from starting XD
Are Shiny aware that even after this the control settings reset to default every time you quit the game?

I have identical issues here...
(Morpheus has a blue face without glaces etc.)
I use an ATI X800XT Platinum with the latest catalyst.
I hope these are not the "minor" visual flaws according to the read-me file that where possible on X800.
I have it fixed with the rendering setting,
lowering it to 8 will do the trick!
It seems only the newest cards can run in the 9 or 10, still the graphics are exellent in 8!
Now I' am only struggling a bit on how I can adjust the controls on my gamepad,(they wont assign...), it's funny, after 2 years of playing ETM I still instinctively press the focus and action buttons when fighting, only they are the wrong buttons in PON for now...
My first impression is WOW, great job Shiny!
The details movie-game are very high!

Catalyst is the name of the drivers used with ATI graphics cards. They're usually updated once a month and it can be good to keep up to date - the latest set (5.13) have some pretty nice performance increases!
They can be downloaded from here (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894)
If you have an nVidia graphics card, you can download drivers here (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp)
Hope that helps...
