jump combo help / helicopter part

right im into the game and ive just got my double jump bonus thing but when it says i have to combine it with the focus to reach the helicopter i just keep jumping over the edge and i cant do it.

ive got my jump bound to w and focus is x when i press x then w he just runs and the only way I can get a double jump is by standing still pressing x & w together but then i dont get anywhere near the helicopter

where i am going wrong?

hopefully this will help,

when runnig to the helicopter, there is a raised bit of roof (looks like a glass window) ((on the right i think)) when i did that part i ran off the glass window to get just a little bit more height... and it worked... other than that i am not sure what else....
