View Full Version : Proper Foley Sounds ?
If you [the makers of this game] adore cars as much as some of the players, and indeed the drivers of such amazing machines, I hope you realise how important authentic sounds of engines\exhausts are.
Its the same for people who love guns, if you've seen the excellent film 'Heat', you'll know about the sounds I’m talking about.
I think the makers of PGR3 were closer than anyone before, but it still sounded synthesized and made by someone who didn't really care all that much.
Example, if your lucky enough to put your butt in a Zonda F, leave it in 2nd or 3rd for a bit while backing off the throttle and check out the almighty over-run back fire from the exhaust.
Same goes for any TVR that’s been de-catted, immense gunfire right underneath your bum + flames to boot :D [out of the car]
So all I am trying to say is that, as someone who's passionate about cars, its not just the way they look, or who built them, or even how much power they have but a combination of every aspect and the sound being far more important than most of the other factors.
PLEASE DON’T FORGET THIS !
:atari:
A TVR doesn't need to be de-catted to produce flames.....
Thats right, but when it is... you get plenty more...and thats what we all like :bravo:
I've heard from a secret source that who has played TDU and he said that all car sounds are real and have not been cleaned. :)
Now thats EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.
One thing tho, where the hell are the ferrari's ?
I thought it was meant to be Lamborghini that were a pain in the butt to get a licence from.

Where are your manners?
Say "please"!
Yo, for some reason im RobGTO and RobF50, lol not sure what happened there [probably beer].
Anyways.
Just been playing the demo... Gotta say - Im impressed even at this early stage.
The sound is REALLY good, but one thing I haven't heard yet.
BACKFIRE ON THE OVERRUN !!!
I know not all cars are going to do this, the Gallardo that I've been in didn't, but boy did she sound good. The Exige I've been in backfired on up-shifts as well, and that was just with the sports upgrade [was really strange hearing it pop going up gears :D ]. I dont know if they will, but Ultima, Marcos, Noble and Radical all deserve to be in this game as well. I've been in all apart from any Noble yet, and I tell you NOTHING is more fun than a Radical SR3, well, cept an SR9... I loved the SR3 soo much Its on my shopping list. My friend kick started the Gumball in London this year in it.

GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are obsessed with backfire
It makes me shiver when i hear that nice down-revving sound and then the backfire, like on my crosser, ITS CRAZYYYYYY!
Simon...
Yes, yes I am obsessed with it :D
The thing is with games, what usually makes them stand out from the rest is little details that normally get missed out...but these details make games far more immersive... just think that when we see a film and it has 3d graphics in there...we notice the mistakes immediatly...same goes for sound but its more subtle. I just get really miffed when developers miss this vital part out...and most of them do because they aren't petrol heads.
But hey, im impressed so far.
:bravo:
