View Full Version : The Bikes Will Let This Game Down
My gut feeling for this game is that the driving will be pretty good (eden were never far off the mark with the V-Rally series) But I've got to say that I think the bike riding will be p***poor. I've said it elsewhere on this forum, bike riding is a hard thing to get 'right feel' for in games. Climax, with the motogp series has got it right on the money. Let's hope that Eden can do the same.

i know that i shouldnt bump ancient threads from february *slaps wrist* but...
IS THIS GUY PSYCHIC!
i have no problem with the bike handling :mefiant:
its usable and i can compaire it to the PS2 bike games dynamics,to me its as good at the TT isle of man game
i dont like the motogp games handling
down to personal preferance i guess
I am a bit dissappointed with the bikes personally - but I do think 'Blade has the right of it it's all about your own flavour!
On the whole I think that the the game is absolutely amazing in scope and I'm certainly enjoying it - but the handling of both the bikes and the cars is not quite there for me personally.
Definitely still got some stand-out amazing gaming moments though - see you all on the island! :)

Nice necro bump tonguegre
Nice find. Kudos to the OP too.
I find the bikes OK myself. It's no sim but the arcade gameplay of the bikes is fine with me. It would be good if they were better but they're not, so I'll be happy with them how they are.

the bikes are fine, maybe they just need to turn faster, instead of always doing a long loop.

the bike handling is good with the exeption of looping turns, surely all bikes can take a simple turn at a junction without having to hug the outside line weirdblue.
reverse gear is a bit daft though, im sure a simple walking (or waddling per se rolleyesa ) backwards animation wouldnt have been too hard
I don't mind the bikes at all really, although I have to ride in Helmet cam. I find that if you switch to the exterior/behind cam it reminds me too much of Super Hang On from the Mega Drive, the way it twitches and leans excessively :wink2:
Anyhoo that is my opinion and not yours so shoot me down if you wish :salut2: Cheers

the steering should get tighter as the speed drops ,that would work! like it does on TT isle of man superbikes game
The steering at high speed needs to feel smoother so that its easier weave between traffic. It's like the leaning is handled in increments, and it would be nice to be able to get the rear wheel out and powerslide just a bit.

I also feel that it is only fair that I point out that I am only six - please reply out of school hours but before 7pm GMT because I am not allowed to use the TV or computer after 'Beddybyes' time......

I love the bikes.
I admit they do seem like an after thought but once you get used to them and realise you cant take corners at 80mph then they're lots of fun to drive... and fun is what all this gaming nonsense is about right?
Anyone struggling with the bikes should buy a Triumph Speed Triple or Kawasaki Z1000 1st as they're a lot easier to drive than the likes of the 999R or the MV F4 (which is probably my favourite vehicle in the game).
Also, you're going to be disappointed from the moment you 1st ride one if you expect the handling to be like MotoGP - They're totally different games.
There's no bike only challenges so IMO if you dont like them dont buy one... as I'm sure everyone knows, you can test drive them 1st to make your mind up.
"Speedo only" view is where it's at :)
Just my tuppence worth, not that it's worth anything.

the bike engine in this game is really bad. The engine in motoGP is how bikes handle. But the ones in TDU...so bad, they bounce around. dont handle or turn like a bike would. i guess its just to fill something in so they get more units sold. to the bike lovers and the car lovers. To the bike lovers, go buy MotoGP06. The bikes in TDU are just awefull.

Eden have said they have made the bikes easier to handle than real life for gameplay purposes.
Trouble is they are to "twitchy" not smooth enough for left right manouvering.

whats worse is that when you turn the bike. the turn has a certain amount of turn. like a script(animation) before you feel you have turned again. bottom line when you turn the bike in motogp a little. it turns a little. but in TDU. it goes through the whole sript of the turn. press it left once. let your finger of the joystick and watch it go through its turn animation...lol...pants...total pants

Agreed,it is poor handling,no rear, front brake,MOTOgp takes some practice but when its right it feels great, bikes just seem an afterthought in TDU.
And feel a little "light".

Actually there is about 10 bike challenges. There's one for every make and some standard mA & mB challenges.
The Agusta challenge is really fun, ten laps up in the mountains somewhere. After that motorcycle-handling feels all natural. :)

i quite liked the triumph challenge. the augusta one was a real bore in the f4 (or whatever the Mb A one is), so i did it in the brutale(or whatever the Mb B one is) tuned up to stage 3, then i enjoyed it.
i love the ninja, but the laqck of dials is really miffing me now :(
