My dad has an alienware computer but the sound will not work when you are in the game. We have tested the speakers and they are fine.

Ok, thanks. I went on the creative x-fi website and looked for the specs but it said nothing about direct x.

I hate to "me too..."

but i have the exact same problem

Creative Audigy 2, latest drivers, no sound at all in game. Sound in all other games works fine, dxdiag shows no errors.

hope there's help for that soon, the game is somehwat dull without any sound.

it's not your soundcards/drivers... it's the game
when i played the first district using the no-cd patch the sound was great
but now that i'm playing the game in an 'official' way (see the no sound thread) suddenly the sound is gone
guess we have to wait for the EU patch :(

It seems to be a problem manily affecting Creative's Audigy 2 and 4 cards.

Support so far was VERY unhelpful with this rather dumb boilerplate reply:

Dear Sir or Madam:

There are a couple of things you will need to do initially:

Update your version of Direct X to the latest version.
Update your video card driver.
Update your sound card driver.

... (tedious unneeded instructions on where to obtain drivers snipped)

Atari Technical Support

I had told them in my initial support query that my DirectX and Sound Card driver very the latest! (DrectX files are even checked by the game installer) Sometimes I really wonder if they even read the support messages before firing off a boilerplate reply.

I actually tried several sound card drivers, to no avail.

I got back to support telling them that and also asking them what on earth the graphics drivers would have to do with the lack of sound (no using the latest NVIDIA drivers because they have problems with several other games I use) but the response was: Utter Silence.

I guess I'll hang on a bit and wait for a patch, definitely fire off another support query if I don't hear from them within a few days. ATARI Tech support seem to be really bad compared to other publishers that always got back to me very quickly. (They never got back to me about a problem I had with Fahrenheit, was eventually able to solve that myself)
